Must visit place. I’ve travelled a lot, and it’s a first place with a crystal clean aquarium glasses, which makes a huge difference in perception of wonderful sea creatures. The adventure atmosphere is in every museum corner. Before visiting, please check in advance the main exhibition and 3d adventure open hours. Enjoy!

Lovely place. It is not the largest or most rich museum of this type, but it is really worth seeing because it has interesting specimens and an aesthetic, interesting way of presenting it. The service was okay, the prices were not too high. In my opinion, it is worth an hour or two for sightseeing. And there is a nice gift shop at the end - which also sells interesting books.

Super place! This is a great museum with huge aquariums with a great variety of sea life on show (downstairs). There is also a natural and general museum on level 1&2 that are pretty interesting. Not world class but very good. Level 3 has a reasonable panoramic view of Monaco and restaurant. The signage between each level especially finding the stairs to L3 is pretty poor surprisingly? Well worth a visit for 2-3 hours. €12 for adults, group rates available. Wheelie friendly and audio and real guides available.

The Oceanographic Museum of Monaco is one of those places that is recommended to be visited when you are in the principality. The museum has two lower floors and three floors above. The lower floors are the aquariums, which I would describe as the sea creatures zoo, and, irrespective of in what glamorous condition they are kept, is animal abuse in glorified clothes. The upper floors, though, were very interesting as they focused on polar exploration and the role that Monaco has played and is still playing in conserving the oceans and the environment.

Amazing place with varieties of sea life & endangered species. Best collection of corals I have seen till date. The turtle floor is very interesting & informative. The immersive experience is amazing. The location is top notch with a great view of the Mediterranean sea 😀 Totally worth a visit.

Best aquarium I have ever seen! Way way better that the one in Barcelona! Would recommend to everyone. Make sure you go at the top floor terrace after you are finished to see a great view on the city of Monaco! 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Truthfully, we had low expectations of this museum, but needed to pass some time in Monaco (that didn't include eating/drinking) - and what a pleasant surprise it was! The aquarium was varied and well laid out, with gorgeous aquatic life. The rest of the museum is quite charming, with an old world feel (the large stairwell with the hanging squid & octopus were stunning.) We particularly enjoyed the immersive and interactive exhibit, hanging out with whales, penguins, and sea lions. While not a "must" visit, it was certainly a pleasant way to spend a few hours in Monaco.

Great place to visit with kids. It is not too big and won't take the whole day. Also you must visit the roof top terrace with a wonderful view

Nice aquarium and museum all in one. Prices are not bad, especially for the 1 year membership. Good place to take your kids. Lots of different species which is nice.

Such incredible species of creatures can be found at this aquarium. It is amazing how immersive the experience is and for an additional fee you can truly immerse yourself by feeding some of the many different types of animals.

It is must to visit. The building, the views, the feeling is unforgettable. We were limited on our time and two hours felt little, we could see so much more.

I spent about 3 hours here. They have all the fish aquariums you’d probably expect to see, and I loved all of it. It’s easy to get caught up watching these marine life. Make sure to also go upstairs! There’s information on Prince Albert’s explorations of the ocean and also a semi-interactive experience of the north and South Pole that I really enjoyed. I posted some videos of it as well.

The museum is housed in an impressive building, right near the sea. The exhibits themselves are ok, but below what you can see in Valencia for example. The view from the top terrace is really nice.

Great museum, so many interesting sea creatures! We loved wandering around the different fishes. the exhibition upstairs (about Antarctica and arctica) was very important and nice. some tablets didn't work, so we couldn't read about the fishes, and the interactive activities weren't so interesting. this museum is great for children and people who love sea creatures

If you find yourself in the glamorous city of Monaco, there's one attraction that simply cannot be missed – the awe-inspiring building that stands as a testament to architectural excellence. This magnificent structure is a must-visit for tourists of all ages. From the moment you lay eyes on this building, you'll be struck by its sheer beauty. Its design seamlessly combines modern sophistication with timeless elegance, making it a true marvel to behold. The building's exterior is a work of art in itself, with intricate detailing and a grand façade that exudes opulence. It's a place that leaves a lasting impression on all who visit Monaco, and it's undoubtedly a must-see attraction. So, make sure to add this spectacular building to your itinerary when in Monaco – you won't be disappointed.

The museum is great, you get to see a lot of lively aquatic species (fishes, crabs, corals, jellyfish, plants, etc). The jellyfish aquarium was wonderful. It's a bit smaller than I imagined but great nonetheless. Make sure you don't visit it last minute, they close ticketing 30 minutes before the museum closes

Beautiful live settings for beautiful sea creatures! Our entire family, from the youngest to the oldest, were both educated and entranced. This was the first facility in the world to be able to sustain live coral. Oceanographic work of Prince Albert I, Cousteau, and Prince Albert II are highlighted. I highly recommend.

A very neat experience! The Aquarium was quite crowded, but it had a lot of specimens and lots of aquatic life that I don't often see displayed. In addition the museum was interesting to go through. It had lots of information about Monaco's involvement with sea exploration. It also had a lot of information on climate change and how we can make an impact.

A place that is worth your visit. The whole building is stunning. On the basement there is an aquarium and on the first floor there is a periodic report on climate change awareness. The best part was the the aquarium with the waste as an awareness of the pollution of the seas that unfortunately few stopped to see and explain to their kids.

I would give 50 stars if I could. A fantastic place not to be missed by anyone visiting Monaco. Beautiful cleanliness everywhere, they are very kind. Whether it's part of the museum or the aquarium, it's an unforgettable experience. The most wonderful was the Mission Polar exhibition, it was incredibly wonderful! Thank you very much! I bought the ticket online in advance, so it was a good price with a combined ticket with the prince's car collection. It's very interactive. It was the most memorable place for us in Monaco. The building is beautiful.

Amazing building with an amazing view on the sea and a bit of Monaco. The first part is a little bit boring. Every aquarium has an explanation of the animals in it. Outside, they have a very nice section with a turtle, which is supercool. If you're lucky, you can see them get feed, it's worth the wait to experience that! In the end there is a very nice little shop with a lot of great stuff which isn't that expensive!

This place is worth a visit, a very good Aquarium. There is the usual indoor section, in addition there is an outdoor section and a large museum upstairs with a lot of naval history and interactive attractions and articles within. Price was reasonable, individual prices and not a family deal. Tickets bought at the entrance and access was straight away. There were barriers for busier times, so I anticipate it gets busier. There is also a large room upstairs with all the walls being screens and plays a number of videos about the north and South Pole and tether climates, also with interaction

An absolutely amazing experience, there were so many exhibitons. I spent 2-3 hours wandering through the entire museum. Unfortunately, I went over the weekend, which was quite crowded so I'd recommended going earlier in the day or over the week. All in all, great experience, stunning views, well worth the admission price

Went on a Tuesday afternoon. The aquarium is on the small side but has some interesting sea creatures. On the up floor there was a sea exploration exhibit that I wish was larger. But overall it was something to do for an hour. It's also notable that the views are excellent. Worth the admission fee.

Nice and interesting, aquarium part was the best. A couple years ago you could pet sharks but we didn’t find the tank now. It’s not cheap but it’s understandable, there are many animals to take care of. I do not recommend going on the rooftop without sunglasses during the day ! It’s gonna blind you.

Beautiful museum/aquarium, with a rooftop to enjoy 360* sea view. The only regret: I hope the sea turtle in the exterior turtle aquarium could enjoy some company of its own kind, or even better, be set back to the sea…

The aquarium is very cool for adults and for kids. They are clean, it's easy to find and recognize the animals. The time of visit depends of how fast you like to check each animal.

The trip to the oceanographic museum was fantastic. It was Monaco's greatest attraction and location to visit. There were information boards regarding each type of animal, and the area was immaculate. The museum's compact size appealed to me since it made it easy to finish viewing every tank. The location is lovely overall, and watching the fish was entertaining.

In my opinion this is the main attraction of the “Rock”. The “Temple of the sea” built more than 100 years ago by Prince Albert I, how was a passionate navigator and explorer. Inaugurated in 1910 after 11 years of construction this 4 story building looks like is carved in stone. More than 4000 species of fish and 200 invertebrates calls home more than 90 tanks. The lagoon is the main attraction. One floor is dedicated to the career of navigator and marine researcher of Prince Albert I who led 28 expeditions. One of the first submarines is exposed here. In a shape of a wooden barrel and rudimentary ways of powering and maneuvering its incredible that was able to submerses.

one of the best things we have seen on our European trip this September. Honestly it is a fantastic sight, the building itself is marvellous, and the setting is outstanding. You get briefed views of the beautiful ocean and sunshine. The area where the turtles are housed, is one of the nicest thing I've ever seen. This museum is a must. It is rather inexpensive, and worth it. The building itself is over 100 years old! And you would never know. We spent about 1hr here, but you could spend up to 2 taking your time. There are areas where you have really breathtaking views, almost panoramic.

(Translated by Google) Due to the lack of a filter at the entrance, we found ourselves en masse at the aquariums. Not at all suitable in times of covid. In addition, the aquariums are much too small for my taste for the animals that are present inside. I was particularly disturbed by the two sharks in a poor pool (they circled around very quickly) and the turtle (outdoors) also in a small pool and alone. I was very hesitant to go for ethical reasons. I let myself be convinced but really I regret. The museum part, on the other hand, is quite nice. The architecture is truly magnificent. The building itself is an architectural masterpiece! I was here 15 years ago and feel it was more impressive that it is now. The tanks look smaller which makes me feel bad for the fish inside, but you do get to learn a bit about them, which is good but could be updated with more info. As for COVID, I’m sure in a week or two the will add the mandatory health pass check but there was no social distancing which was odd for such a large place. They also have a new escape game that I wanna try soon.

Fantastic place for kids. Aquarium exposition is very good but the museum part is even better, very interactive and informative. Price is also very good. 24h parking lot right below the museum is also in a very low price. Whole museum complex looks very interesting but we only had time for this one. Overall highly recommended while visiting Monaco. A breather from all that glamour and wealth.

The building is very small, and going through the aquarium itself took 20min... Otherwise, the type of fish and animals they have anf the way they arranged the place is very beautiful. Take your time and look at the fish and their environments to see the creatures hiding in the rocks. The living coral is a rare sight in tanks. Go early and enjoy!

Really interesting place! But they do not limit people number inside the museum so I felt a little bit insecure during covid time...

Wow!! A must visit. Approx 50€ for a family of 4. We spent over 3 hours exploring the many areas including an outdoors aquarium with fish and a 60kg turtle, Samy! Lots of different species to look at with explanations in English which was helpful! Very clean and lots of toilet opportunities. Once out of the aquarium part, make sure you explore the 1st floor, it has lots of interactive things to do with children.

Fantastic museum and fun for all ages. Entrance fee 16€ for adults, 10€ for students. Had a great time!

Great museum. Must visit place in Monaco. Science and nature better than casino and all that luxury stuff.

Nice selection of live fish and invertebrates, but elevator was difficult to find (had one in party who had difficulty with all the long stairs). The historic museum was a pleasant surprise and wished we had planned to spend more time there. Good to have a big parking garage, but look around for elevator at far end of mall area that will take you to the entrance of the museum. Otherwise, it's a long climb!

Very interesting destination in Monaco.. the aquarium have a lot of sea world animals.. we all enjoyed the experience and the kids were very happy and wa had a really great time. The terrasse was beautiful and view was magnificent.. there is a restaurant on the terrasse but it was closed

People were waiting in long lines to buy tickets but it was very easy to buy tickets on ticket machines in front which almost no one used. Aquarium is great but the rest of the exhibition is a bit of let-down. It's a grand building, the size and style are magnificent so maybe that influenced my expectations.

Beautiful museum in Monaco. Also explained in English. I especially liked the old ambiance and the aquaria with the jelly fish.

Fun museum for little kids and parents alike. The first floor is an aquarium of the Mediterranean and then a tropical seas aquarium. My kids were so excited to see an axolotl. The next floor was historic artifacts and a traveling exhibit. It was crowded and hot but definitely fun. There seemed to be inconsistent air conditioning. The building itself was quite impressive as well. There was no cell reception but free wifi was available.

It's an enormous museum. It has a lot of fishes of every kind, and every one of them has its description and some extra info. In another room they have the whole Prince Albert's story. All his sail trips, all the animals they investigate, its instruments. All his story. If you want to see every peace of the museum you'll need 3 or 4 hours, but it's totally worth. Finally they have 20% of discount if you buy the tickets before 11 am or after 5pm or if you're a student you can have your ticket for 12€.

The aquarium is ok. Many much better around the world. The tanks are mostly small with not so many fishes to see. It is also really crowded (at least during holiday season). The building is fantastic though, perched upon a cliff side in Monaco with dramatic views from the roof terrace, which almost make it worth the 18 euro admission price. The other exhibits were a hit and miss but the polar experience room was very enjoyable, our toddler had a real blast. Bottom line, don't go out of your way to visit but if you happen to be in Monaco or need something to do on a rainy day this is a good idea.

One of kind oceanography museum, stunning display of polar animals in animation and videos, lectures and workshops regarding their challenges and existential crisis. Ancient marine equipments are displayed. Skeleton model of extinct species of huge marine mammals. Aquarium is wonderful with lot of variety of species from very small. A must visit location in Monte Carlo.

One of the best aquariums in Europe I have been to. A great selection of sea life and the turtle enclosure was amazing. I would definitely recommend a visit if you're in Monaco 🇲🇨

A nice aquarium with mostly small fishes display. Very nice terrace area and outdoor display of the sea turtle with beautiful view of the sea right next to it. Museum is full of information and interesting design as well. Worth a visit in Monaco but have seen better one before.

Amazing museum, great technical solutions, informative signs and beautiful creatures in the aquariums. Fits for all generations, everyone should visit and expect that's big so can spend inside 2-3 hours or more easily. One tiny minus is that related to the recent royal family there is bit too much hype, for my taste (installation, footage, even a painting).

Nice aquarium. Maybe a bit expensive but cheaper if you buy a 72 hour card and take this as one of your activities. Toilets were most amazing I've ever seen in a public place so had to take a picture 😂 Kids enjoyed it, especially the youngest who has aspirations of being a Marine Biologist. Definitely catch the bus up from the Casino or port area and don't walk like we stupidly did!

Had an amazing time with my partner. There are some really cool fishes and sharks etc. To see so if you have spare time would recommend. I did think that the pictures on the internet looked more exiting as the aquarium itself was not that big but the museum part was pretty good.

Was okay. A little repetitive. Similar to The Deep in Hull and other Marine places really! I would definitely skip the museum section. There's a nice outside section with great views, but small. The CGI room wasn't as amazing as people say it is.

Not the biggest or most interactive marine museum in the world but definitely one with the best ambience and views! Panoramic view of Monaco while learning about marine animals was definitely a highlight. Interactive polar exhibit and environmental conservativi sm exhibits was also fun.

One of the best aquariums I have been in. Have some rarer fish and very clean windows. The top floors of the museum are quite interesting too.

Really good for families with young children. The aquarium had beautiful sea creatures, including small fish, different species of sharks as well as a giant turtle. Really well coordinated, with a great oceanic museum, a nice outdoor restaurant and a mini play area at the above terrace with a beautiful view overseeing yhe coast. Highly recommended when in Monaco.

My family and I arrived at the Oceanarium on a rainy day at 1 o'clock in August 2023. There was a long queue for tickets at the ticket office. My husband stood in the queue for an hour.I with three small children was looking for a place to hide from the long rain. It could have been done in a souvenir shop. On the internet it is not possible to buy tickets day after day, only for the next day. We were very tired of all these events before we even got to the Oceanarium. The aquarium with the fish was beautiful. But it was very stuffy and crowded due to the sheer number of people. The museum was amazing with interactive games for children and a huge room with projectors that create the effect of real presence among whales, penguins, stars. You can also go up to the roof, where you can get an incredible view of the sea!

This is my favorite place in Monaco! It is huge, and the mix between the marine world and the history of oceanographic exploration is unique! I recommend this place and it is not very expensive and worth all the money!

  • 5/5 Greg M. 6 months ago on Google
An extraordinary display of sealife with so many rare and unique species. Well signed for following the direction throughout, ending up at the gift shop / exit. Best to allocate 1.5-2.0 hours and to pre-purchase tickets online. Access is easy if using the hop on - hop off bus (stop 8) Caters for guided tours, which can be somewhat noisy. Each display has accompanying information on the species showcased in each aquarium.

Very cool Aquarium, lots to see and the building is amazing as well. The location right at the cliff is even cooler. Go check it out

A very impressive aquarium and a feet of modern engineering. The aquarium boasts a wide range of aquatic creatures that are both familiar and alien in nature. If these creatures don’t cause you to drop your mouth in wonder then the view outside will! 😎 The museum is located on the side of a cliff which is a marvel when you step foot inside. Highly recommend this if your in Monaco! 👍👍

Highly recommended to include this museum in the ticket package! To me, I felt like it’s an aquarium + science museum. Do go to their terrace and take some good photos of the beauty of Monaco.

My visit to the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco was nothing short of spectacular. This museum is not just a showcase of marine life but an immersive journey into the depths of the ocean. The exhibits are beautifully curated, offering a blend of education and entertainment. The highlight for me was the aquarium section, where you can get up close with a diverse range of sea creatures in meticulously maintained habitats. What’s particularly noteworthy is the museum’s commitment to conservation and education about marine ecosystems. The interactive displays and educational panels provide a wealth of information that is both fascinating and enlightening. For students, the museum offers discounted ticket prices, making it an accessible and enriching experience for those on a budget. This thoughtful touch ensures that more people can enjoy and learn from this incredible institution. The architecture of the museum itself is also impressive, with stunning views over the Mediterranean Sea. Whether you’re a marine enthusiast, a student of science, or just looking for an interesting and informative way to spend your day, the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco is an exceptional choice.
