The Church of St. Nicholas and the Wonderworker Nikolai and the Queen Alexandra's Orthodox Church is an Orthodox church of the Western European Exarchate of the parishes of the Russian tradition (Patriarchate of Constantinople) in Nice. Construction began in the winter of 1856 on the initiative of the widowed empress Alexandra Feodorovna, the wife of Emperor Nicholas I, and with the participation of the Russians who are under treatment in Nice. Landmark Cote d'Azur and Nice. The first Orthodox church in the city and the first parish Russian church in Western Europe.

(Translated by Google) The Saint Nicolas and Saint Alexandra church is the first church of the Russian Orthodox rite in Nice. The construction of this church results from the presence, in the 19th century, of a large Russian colony which came each year to take advantage of the benefits of the Riviera's meteorological clemency. Following a request from Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, the construction of this church began in 1857. This church was consecrated on December 31, 1859. Currently, it is only open for services, on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. For clarification, vigils take place on Saturday at 6:00 p.m., and mass on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. Discreetly, during services, you can see, of course, without taking photos, the beautiful iconotasis of this church. Attention, the church being on the first floor, the access, is done by a pretty double staircase, which unfortunately, makes the access impossible to the PMR!

(Translated by Google) The church is beautiful. The people who work in it are also very good. The grandmother working in the church shop is very mischievous. I didn't buy a cross there so as not to wear the negative on my body and not remember it. That there are bad grandmas in Russian church shops, that in France. That's right, you can't leave the habit at home. Crosses and icons are very expensive, 50-70 euros, except for metal and wooden crosses for 3-4 euros. Also I don't understand why it is not allowed to take pictures inside. After all, this is not private property and there is a YouTube video. Also, I will not say that the parishioners glow here with goodness, even on Sundays.

(Translated by Google) This church is the oldest in Nice dedicated to the Orthodox rite; if the exterior seems austere, the interior is worth a visit because its iconostasis is quite simply a masterpiece of religious craftsmanship. Moreover the pope and the parishioners welcomed me just after the Sunday service.
