Erected in 1893, the Centenary monument commemorates the decree on the attachment of the County of Nice to France and the creation of the Alpes-Maritimes department. Unveiled in 1896, the monument commemorates the incorporation of Nice to France in 1793. At the top there is a sculpture of the Greek goddess Nike.

An icon of Nice commemorates the annexation of Nice to France. Built 1893 commemorates the decree declaring the Comté de Nice to be part of France and the creation of Alpes-Maritimes départment. It's at Jardin Albert 1er.

Sadly there is a peace memorial next to this monument - with all the hippie peace signs, asif they will stop religious based violence. J'taime Nice-ville

The statue is located in the park named after Albert the First (former king of Belgium), and it commemorates a century since the first annexation of Nice (Nizza) by France during French Revolution. The area around this monument is used for the Christmas Fair and the Nice Jazz Festival. The statue of Victory goddess Nike at the top symbolizes the name of the city that was founded by ancient Greek colonizers!
