Mercure
Nice
les
de
Angais
have
thieves
working
for
them.
Great
part,
the
management
staff
is
there
to
protect
them.
I
seldom
write
reviews,
but
this
one...
sure
I
was
waiting
for
this
to
get
over
and
review
it.
I
had
£200+
stolen
from
my
room
from
my
wallet.
First
day
of
my
stay,
I
checked
in
to
the
hotel
in
afternoon
and
went
out
for
a
stroll
at
about
4-4:30
pm...
leaving
the
room
in
perfect
condition
requiring
no
service,
neither
did
I
request
for
one.
When
I
came
back
though,
to
my
surprise
found
£200
missing
from
my
wallet
and
foreign
currency
(SGD)
put
upside
down.
With
a
few
other
personal
items
missing
(my
spouse’s
designer
shades
worth
$400
etc).
While
confronting
the
front
desk
staff,
about
this
misdemeanour,
I
got
biggest
lesson
about
French
law.
Anything
stolen
from
the
room
“while
unprotected
and
not
in
the
safe”
is
not
responsibility
of
hotel.
The
hotel
or
its
staff
can’t
be
liable
for
anything
missing
from
the
room.
Except
if
it’s
protected
-
“that’s
what
the
safe
is
for”
he
said.
The
staff
was
rather
unperturbed
by
my
report
and
easily
shrugged
me
away
with
my
fault
that
I
didn’t
use
the
vault
(no
poetry
intended).
While
I
had
no
hopes
of
getting
my
money
or
other
belongings
back,
when
my
spouse
enquired
about
follow
up
action
from
front
desk.
The
answer
was
-
“we
are
checking
with
the
lock
manufacturer,
who
entered
your
room”,
they
didn’t
really
have
a
log
of
who
entered
my
room
while
I
was
out.
Now
after
reading
this
if
you
still
would
like
to
live
here
please
keep
your
$1500
Tumi
check
in
bag
in
the
vault
because
you
know
what
it
won’t
fit
in
the
vault.
And
while
someone
will
take
that
away,
the
hotel
would
stand
by
firmly
relying
on
French
law
that
protects
thieves
from
anything
outside
of
“the
vault”.
Nevertheless
it’s
a
“valuable
French
law
lesson
I
had
at
Mercure
Nice
des
la
angais”.
Great
sea
view
room
by
the
way!
Sic!
