The elevator is kinda broken. I was stuck inside for few minutes 🥲 Bed is comfortable. Good location. Sanitary depends,it’s okay for few night since it’s cheaper than others.

Pretty dirty. The matrasses were awful and the pillows too. Over priced for such a bad hostel. Only 2 wall outlets in an 8 bed dorm and not even close by the beds. The moment we arrived in our room we bumped into the first bed :/. Tiny bathroom, a bit nasty. When i woke up the in the morning, gum was sticking against my toes 🤮. And it can't be mine because i NEVER buy gum. If you're planning to stay in Nice, go for another hostel.

The rooms were nothing like show in the pictures. The walls are mouldy, beds are uncomfortable and rooms are disgusting. For the price I’ve payed I expected better quality. There is also no wifi, and my security locker is broken. I would not come here again and would recommend to Avoid this place

One star for the location, another star because the room was as described and had functioning air condition. That's where the positivity ends. The place was treacherous. An hour after we arrived we got stuck in the lift, which felt like a terrible nuisance for the reception staff. We are sorry we got stuck in your vertical coffin trap. When we arrived back after our evening out, we were greeted by the now-tipsy receptionists. We weren't about to risk the elevator again, but the heavy rain had turned the stairwell into a slip-and-slide, made even MORE fun by the lack of any lighting in the corridors. The whole thing felt like a giant escape room. The only lighting was from the lightning outside. We had a sleepless night thanks to our neighbours from across the pond. There might as well just not have been any walls. Also, the mystery of the giant bang in the middle of the night was solved in the morning, when we saw that the roof had literally caved in. That being said, it was cheap. But if you value your life I would stay elsewhere.

Beautiful charming French rooms, fun lovely staff and really good local recommendations! Perfect location to explore the city, beach (15mins walking) and only a few minutes to the trains. If you want a real backpacking experience in Nice, I recommend this place. Also I saw some of the reviews and wasn’t sure to stay…but it’s not at all like some described. It’s really clean everywhere (also the bathrooms), the kitchen has everything you need (even free tea) and a charming pizza oven. And don’t worry there are blankets (not just sheets). It doesn’t feel old at all, more like a real French experience with cute sized cozy rooms and a beautiful staircase. I will come back!

Perfectly fine place to stay for the price. Obviously it is not a 5 star hotel, but it has all the requirements: clean sheets, fresh towel every day, cleaning in rooms, bathroom and kitchen every day, wifi, luggage room etc. Also a great location. Met lots of nice people there, bonus is that the female only dorms cost the same as mixed which I liked as a lot of hostels take advantage and charge more. Was supposed to be in 8 bed dorm but ended up in 4 bed which I was happy about. Go here if you want to save money and don’t need anything fancy. Don’t go here expecting a fancy place and then get mad (a lot of the bad reviews seem like this to me. If you want a nicer place spend more money). Definitely recommend this place to young travellers looking for a cheap and handy place, especially solo female travellers.

My friend and I were upgraded to a private room (from a 6-people-dorm). So all in all it was definitely worth it because we ended up paying like 20 bucks per night (per person). The staff is really nice but a lot of things seem to be out of order (payment only in cash because the machine is broken, Wi-Fi didn’t work the first day of our stay, no warm water in the shower on the first day either). The room also was a bit run down and small for two people. As I said before: for 20 bucks definitely worth it but I don’t think the private room would’ve been worth twice as much (which would’ve been the regular price).

Just a terrible mess. Were supposed to sleep there for a night but had to leave instantly when we arrived and book another hotel nearby. No lockers for personal stuff, 8 person dorm had 9 beds from which 8 were full (we had reservation for two... So no bed for the other) Shower was leaking and looked really unhygienic. Weird smell throughout the hostel. Beds are like old hospital bunk-beds. No personal lights or personal plug-ins. Elevator was not in use. The whole hostel seemed so dirty. Would give 0/5 if it was possible.

Hostel Baccarat is - for me - the best hostel in Nice. Friendly staff, clean rooms, great kitchen and you always meet great people. Located very close to the train station and local amenities you also have easy access to the Old Town and the beach in minutes. Highly recommended by someone who has stayed in most hostels in this region.

I've stayed in a fair number of hostels and consider myself to be pretty flexible when it comes to hostel stays, just for reference. The bunks were fine, no complaints. The bathroom situation was 6 bed to 1 bathroom (shower, toilet, sink) which is unideal but for 6 bed it worked. The bathroom was somewhere between okay and dirty and the toilet seat was not attached and then one day disappeared entirely. I rely on cooking when I travel but the kitchen was barely useable. There was no labelling system in the fridge and the result was two fridges packed full and smelly. There were flies, there were not enough dishes and they weren't organized. It was not a kitchen that received any recognizable cleaning or maintenance on a regular basis. There was a curfew and you couldn't get in between 3am and 6am. The people/crowd here however were awesome. The weird hotel-turned-hostel atmosphere had a way of bringing everybody together. We met tons of people and had a blast all 3 nights we were there with the people we met, which really redeemed the stay for us.

I have just finished a stay at this location on an inter-railing trip, out of the 5 other hostels that we had stayed at for the same price point this was by far the worst. To keep it short and sweet the place was a disaster from start to finish, our shower was black with mould had the pressure of rain and went from freezing cold to boiling hot every few seconds, the beds were buckled and bent one of which had completely collapsed. The elevator would get stuck between floors from time to time and would require the lifeless receptionist to reset it. Card machine was also not working I don’t know if it ever has judging by the look of it so cash payments only. The rooms are advertised as “air conditioned” there is an air conditioner but it didn’t work. They have also seemed to have lost a star since we booked making it a 2 star hostel now. Would avoid this hostel at all costs there are far more for the same price point.

For the price this hostel has everything you need. I stayed 7 nights total in a 3 bed female dorm with a balcony and had no issues. Whilst the building is old and the facilities are basic, its great for short term stay. There is a kitchen with toaster, stove, microwave, and fridge. The hot water in my room worked. The room felt clean. Its in a great location and conveniently located next to the train station and tram stops. The reception staff are very helpful. The staff are very willing to help improve your stay too. Our bathroom was a little moldy and the toilet seat was broken. As soon as I mentioned it to reception they fixed it straight away. So whilst not everything was perfect, if you just let the staff know its likely they’ll be willing to help you out.

I booked a shared dorm but was upgraded to a private room for no extra price! Extended my stay a night for even cheaper and reception were super helpful with advice and recommendations for the town. Location is very convenient as I did a lot of day trips out of nice via train. It is also just off the Main Street! Common areas are clean, it was exactly what I needed for my short stay!

I really enjoyed my time here! The staff were lovely and talkative, my room got upgraded for free to a private and it was very cozy and clean. It did lack hand soap in the bathroom, but overall the room was lovely! Everything was in either walking distance or easily accessible by tram - if someone as disoriented as me can manage not to get lost, that’s a win! Overall I would certainly return!

Great stay! Close to everything. Easy to find anything you need around the corner. Air conditioning and towels provided. Easy to store luggage and snag a last minute shower before our flight. Very kind owner, willing to help us out. Thank you! Merci!

The room was very good and clean as described! The receptionist Adanane was very welcoming and chatty with great energy for our entire stay. He orientated us around the hostel and gave us tips on how to get around the city. The owner Dan was also very kind and help I would definitely recommend staying in the hostel !

This hotel may not look perfect but it has everything you need for a decent price with friendly managers and staff. The location is great, it’s right by the train station and tram stop. The owner of the hotel was super welcoming and helpful. My friend and I stayed in the double room with a balcony, it was perfect. It had a nice little view and some chairs to sit in the sun. The kitchen facilitates are great if you are on a bit of a budget too! I would definitely book it again.

Very good quality rooms and facilities. Nice people staying in the hostel. Good service as well. Over all very nice place, and very good compared to the other hostels that I have stayed at in Nice. Perfect location too.

We spent 3 nights at Hostel Baccarat: comfortable, conveniently close from the railway station and tramway station, walking distance from city center. The staff is really nice, we had a very stay here, thank you !

Not that many good things to say about this. I stayed in a six-person room, and it was simply awful. Our locker was broken and merely a cage-type thing. The beds were uncomfortable, and our bathroom door did not close properly which caused very uncomfortable and awkward situations. The upkeep was bad, the painting was ugly and the rooms were quite dirty. The staff was friendly, but the whole hostel just seemed really old, dirty and not worth the money compared to other hostels I have stayed in. Also, there was a under-40 year old policy, but somehow I felt like 40% of the guests we ran into were above that age.

Good price. The rooms are pretty wack tho with a lot of damaged things in there. The location is great and you meet a lot of nice people. But we got free vodka.

Does it's job but a few things could be improved. only one plug socket in the room meaning you can either have the telly on OR charge a single device (in a double room I'd like to have at least a plug socket each) lights above the bed which can only be on when the main room light is on meaning you are either in complete darkness or bright light which I do not like in the evenings. A single mirror in the bathroom which isn't too much of a problem until one of you needs to shower while the other wants to get ready for the day.

Very lovely staff, very accommodating and such a warm welcome when I arrived late. Great location to everything. Felt very safe. Dan the owner is lovely and can speak good English. Ended up staying a couple more nights than anticipated.

Perfect place for a short getaway with friends to Nice, France. The location of the place is really great, right at the heart of Nice, close to all the main attractions, the beach and shopping. Walking distance from all the shopping and cafes. The staff are really great. They are extremely friendly, and even gave us a free upgrade from our 4 person shared dorm to a 3 person private room (there were 3 of us girls). The reception area even has a communal kitchen for you to heat up and cook food, as well as a working corner with tables and chairs to relax and get work done. We had a really late bus to catch on the day of check out and were spending time in the reception to kill time. The owner introduced himself and even offered us to use one of the empty dorm rooms to take a shower and freshen up before our bus at 1am. We were truly delighted at the experience. The rooms honestly is what you pay for at 22 euro ish per night. It just has the basic necessities as expected from a hostel. But it definitely is safe. If you are students looking for a hostel for vacation. I really highly recommend this place!

Want an ideal location in Nice with very friendly staff and comfortable accommodations, then this place is great for the budget. Sure, it’s a hostel so there’s some things you’ll have to deal with, which are hostels anywhere. This place is certainly well run, clean, & brimming with fun, interesting people from all over the world. You won’t find a better deal in Nice.

I absolutely loved my time here! The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, and it's always nice to feel that you're under the care of people who genuinely want the best for others. They were also very accommodating, were able to find us a last minute room when we needed to extend our stay in Nice and also upgraded our room free of charge! Great location (right near the train station and a 10 minute walk to the beach), great vibes and great price- What more can you ask for?

Amazing trip!! Such a nice social hostel and great facilities like a well equipped kitchen (!!!) to help backpackers save money, we got a lovely room for me and two friends, so spacious and clean with lovely views of nice, location was ideal for shops and the beach. Can’t recommend enough!

my stay started off OK until I got to my room and I ended up sleeping in just a loose sheet. They only gave us sheets but just like the first top of it there was no comforter so it was freezing. Bathroom was OK, like everyone else said, the seat wasn’t attached. I wouldn’t even take a shower because of it. There are two bunkbeds in our room that were a little bit crowded size wise but we’re OK minus the squeaking of it. Also the location wasn’t bad, maybe 20 minute walk to the beach. A day later I realize we were one block from the hood. At least there was a McDonald’s on the corner. Was ok but would definitely recommend walking with people at night around this area. Reception was nice but I felt unsafe when I came back at 2 AM and there was two homeless guys sleeping in the chill room. Not so chill is it. Would’ve been fine if I felt safer but thanks to the area and reception I give it two out of five stars.

Staff were lovely. It was also very cheap, saying that the shower had black mold, the luggage room smelled like a corpse, and the kitchen was pretty disgusting. I normally don't mind run down places but black mold really annoyed me.

Me and my friend were supposed to stay at this hostel for 4 nights. We had to leave after the second night because we found a RAT in our room. It had eaten from our food, and we think it crawled out of the shower. The people in the reception told us “these things just happens sometimes”. The bathroom was disgusting, with the grossest shower ever. I had to close my eyes while I showered to be able to get clean. The kitchen was filthy, and everything there was extremely unhigenic. There was no hot water to wash with, and everything was dirty. We left the place traumatized, and never want to experience anything like that again. Everything was totally unacceptable.

The staff was friendly but that’s about the only positive thing I could say. My room had dim lighting that made it feel depressing and the floors and doors made a lot of noise, so I often woke up from other people coming in and probably woke them up too. Each bunk bed doesn’t have its own mini-light or charging sockets or a curtain. We all charged from a single extension cord. I found a loose hair or two in my towel and sheets which was absolutely lovely. The toilet lid looked very dirty and I was grossed out to push the button every time. Not to mention, it was also leaking from the bottom. They don’t do a very good job cleaning. Everything is also very old. No hooks to hang stuff on in the bathroom. No shelf to put your products in the shower. The lounge area and kitchen are in the lobby and not created in a way that welcomes socializing and interacting. The hostel also doesn’t organize any events, nor does it make an effort to connect guests on any online social groups. The internet was also lagging. I was so glad I only booked for two nights and couldn’t wait to get out of there. I’ve paid cheaper for nicer hostels…

I found a RAT in my room that had eaten my food. I woke up to sounds of someone eating But there was no one else in the female dormroom I was staying in. I pulled out my cage and there was something moving in my bag which turned out to be a rat eating my food. I have never experiencenced anything more disgusting. The reception acted like it was nothing and then i decided to leave te hostel. Would not recommend this place unless you like sharing your room with rats. The elevator does not work and the rooms are dirty. I found blood stains on my bunk bed sheets aswell… Unless you would like food poisoning, do not use the kitchen. With no hot water in the sink, a filthy old sponge and no diswhasher, makes the cooking tools and cuttleries never clean from bacteria. In other Words this is not a hygenic space at all. A girl in my dorm also found mold growing inside of the showers. The age limit is also not true. There where many people in their 50/60’s staying at this hostel.

Traveled here as a group of 7 guys. Manager was extremely accommodating in terms of our rooming situation and ended up giving us a private room at the same price as a bed in a dorm. He was extremely nice throughout the entire process. The rooms themselves were perfect. They were clean, comfortable, and spacious enough for all of us. The location was great, a short walk to the old town and also surrounded by many restaurants. Would gladly stay here again if I end up back in Nice.

5/5 hostel experience. The owner was attentive, super helpful and truly cares about his guests. He ensured the hostel felt more like a hotel, having our bathrooms cleaned daily and providing fresh towels. Will absolutely be staying here again!
