There are some pros and cons to this hotel and some won't matter for some people, but was a part of why I specifically chose the hotel so it gets a lower rating. It is amazingly well located - close to the sea and boardwalk, shopping areas and restaurants. The staff are polite and courteous, for the most part but several did not speak French or English as their first language and there were some challenges communicating at times. The hotel is clean overall and the rooms are well laid out and equipped (although change the soap - super strong honey scent so I went and bought my own). My biggest issue with the hotel is that it is listed in multiple sites as being fully accessible - this is not really the case - I recently had knee surgery and am on crutches and require a wheelchair for longer distances. The hotel advertised that they offered wheelchairs and the front desk clerk didn't really understand the ask in French and when she finally did, she said they didn't have (later someone else overheard and brought one to our room which was nice - saving about €100 for our stay vs renting from a third party). Regardless of the advertising and a stair lift at the entrance (of a very small entryway) the hotel is otherwise not incredibly accessible at all! They have one elevator that is very small and would not accommodate a person in a wheelchair, particularly a larger motorized one or for someone like myself who needs to keep my leg straight. Additionally, even for those who struggle with Stairs, the elevator is often not operating - it is stopped on a floor as it won't operate if the hallway door is not closed tightly - many times the desk clerk had to run to a different floor to close the door on a floor or we have had to wait for 4 elevators as a result of the traffic after (it says it holds 6 people, but likely 4 somewhat safely and less with bags. The cleaning staff use it as well which caused a massive backlog and wait one morning which put us 15-20 mins behind as walking down the stairs wasn't an option. So....good hotel for location, cleanliness, room layout. Average rating for staff given language issues. Two star for "real" accessibility.

Great location but so disappointed that the room was very dirty when we checked in. There was a bandaid on the floor, garbage in the garbage can in the room and papers on the floor beside the bed. It obviously was not cleaned properly between guests. I took pictures and talked to reception-and all they said was that they would notify cleaning staff. Nothing was done. Considering COVID, etc. I think it is very important that rooms are cleaned properly between guests. I’ve never stayed in such a dirty room before.

We were a little bit underwhelmed by the hotel as it looked nicer and a bit more modern in the pictures. The first experience in the lobby was that the hotel was not very fancy, it felt more like a hostel. The room was very clean but would need some upgrades as it felt a bit dated. It was a full carpet on the floor with stains in several places and it smelled a bit like mold in the room, probably from water damages. The bathroom was nicer and it was nice to have Nuxe products in the room. The air condition was very good. Also, the staff barely spoke English.

We expected a room with sufficient room for three people, with luggage and space for drying wet beach gear. The room was not very big and had no space for drying towels etc. The toilet was so small that we were unable to close the door and sit down. We have been promised a bathroom with plenty of space for disable. The room should have been with a balcony and sea view. There was only a possibility to get a glimpse of sea leaning out of the "French balcony" with no space. On top of that there was a festival in the nearby park playing so loud that the whole window was shattering.

The room was clean and really nice, great location. Friendly staff downstairs. But the rest of the floors seem to be under construction and you can hear everything starting VERY early. This is super frustrating and I wish we were given notice as this is our vacation and was kind of hoping to sleep in past 6am! Even in the middle of the night you can hear footsteps and what sounds like furniture being moved. We did not try the breakfast as 17 euro seems a bit pricey so we went to cafés around town.

This hotel was a last minute find for us, as our reservation at another hotel cancelled us the day before. We were so pleased and ended up being very glad that this change happened. The hotel was clean and convenient and the staff was helpful and friendly. I recommend staying there, and we will stay there again the next time we are in Nice.

Hotel has a great breakfast with many choices and has an excellent location. It is close to everything and the staff is very helpful and attentive. We stayed a week and had to have our room changed because they were working on the street in the middle of the night(after 12am) and the noise could not allow us to sleep. I told them next day and they gave me another room in the back of the hotel which was much better and did not get the noise from the street. The weather was still cold and they do provide heater in the rooms but no air conditioning. My only concern for someone traveling in the hot months with no air conditioning I am not sure how hot it gets. For us it was fine because it still is cold in Nice. Joy in the breakfast room is truly attentive and gives excellent service. All the ladies in reception are also very attentive and try to assist with anything you need. We truly enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is in a very central place near the sea, overlooking it from the side. The breakfast is quite basic but tasty and fresh. For those who want, there is also a service where you can order breakfast to the room. The rooms are very but very small, most of the rooms have a balcony but the sealing of the window is good because at night there are sometimes noises. The service at the reception was very warm and loving.

This is an update to my original review where I had some concerns. My concerns were immediately addressed by management who explained they had just taken over the property. It was nothing major. They quickly switched us rooms and were very accommodating and polite. I am quite impressed with the new room and it’s a wonderful stay. Great view and fantastic newly renovated washrooms. The location of this property is superb. Walking distance from all of the hot areas. Great food in the area. Staff is very helpful and took care of all of our needs. Would definitely stay again! Thanks again for the great help on our honeymoon

The staff is friendly, and the service is great! We stayed in a room with a small balcony. (The accompanying pictures are from the balcony.) I’m American so I was a little surprised that the lobby was small, not that a lobby needs to be big, it doesn’t. It was a good kind of different which is what traveling is about. All I’m saying is don’t be surprised. In fact, many hotel lobbies in France are small. The elevators are small, too, so don’t bring a large suitcase. Please remember that many of the restaurants and hotels are in beautiful, old buildings with updated interiors, but with smaller rooms. I liked this hotel and would stay here again.

Cute little hotel. The bottom three floors have adorable renovated rooms. We requested these and were assigned them at no extra charge. Ours was near thee kitchen though, and the breakfast staff are really loud and chat to each other so that we can hear every word. We were awoken by a fire alarm at 4am one morning, (false alarm) and had to evacuate. The staff didn't explain or apologise for the inconvenience, which was not a great experience as the main role of a hotel is to provide somewhere to sleep.

I was impressed with the level of service and how nice the room is for the price I paid. I had a single room with a double bed facing the park across the street. While the room was small and could possibly feel a bit cramped for some people, the furniture and the bed were just impeccable. The location is great as it is very quiet at night but very close to the historic part of town and the beach. The price in regards to the quality is very good, I visited during early June and their price was slightly below nearby hotels.

Friendly and cooperative staffs. Great location by the side of the famous Albert 1et garden and few meters from the Promenade and the sea. Too good breakfast buffet. Nice and spacious room with interior. Highly recommended 👍🏼

Fabulous stay in this hotel on the sea front, excellently placed next to Messena Square, the old town, and the waterfront. Our room for 3 (404) had fabulous views and modern bathroom with very good shower. Staff friendly and helpful. Kettle and nespresso machine in room with some tea and capsules. No fridge. Very comfortable beds

The hotel is not soundproofed at all. The guests in the room next door to me have been making very loud noises, screaming for the past 2 hours. The man at the front desk said that he can’t do anything about it. He didn’t offer me to change rooms, nothing. I’m very uncomfortable in this room, especially since I’m with my mom. It’s 1:30am, I need to be up in less than 3 hours for my flight, and I can’t sleep. I do not recommend this hotel, especially if you are with your family.

This was a lovely hotel in downtown Nice. We only stayed one night. The room was very small, but that's pretty common throughout the larger European cities. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that after we checked in then left for the afternoon, we came back to our room to find someone had been in there and done some work in the shower while we were out, without our prior knowledge. This is concerning from a security perspective. When I took a shower that night for our early departure in the morning, black grout pooled around the bottom of the shower and down the drain. All that said, I would probably stay there again and ask them to ensure nobody entered our room while we were out. The people at the front desk were lovely and made the checkin and checkout easy. The view was amazing as well.

I gave it two stars because of location, the breakfast, and the room was clean. Without that - no stars. we booked with 2 other families - had a total of 7 rooms booked. 4 rooms for 3 nights other 3 rooms for just 1 night. All but 2 rooms were hot. Not just … European air conditioning… but extremely hot, sweating, can’t sleep kind of hot. I changed rooms - it was not much better- still sweating all night, even with a fan, hot. One room had a broken towel warmer in the bathroom - so on top of poor air conditioning- the bathroom was unbearably hot. They offered a fan for 1 room. But as we complained they said there was nothing they could do. We got barely any sleep for 3 nights. The room with the bathroom issue was for just one night and they got zero sleep - they offered us nothing in return for the unbearable conditions. Really unfortunate because we really wanted to like this hotel. 2 rooms were nice a cool so we know there is a way to have proper air conditioning.

We loved the location: close to Old Town and the Bay of Angels. The balcony provided a beautiful view and we found the room to be as the website photos represented it to be. The room was clean and the housekeeping staff were excellent. The carpet does need to be replaced. Also, the mini fridge in Room 607 does not work. We should have mentioned it, but did not complain because we did not need it. The front desk and breakfast staff were helpful and friendly.

The maintenance Madam was really friendly and the receptionist Monsieur and Madam were really welcoming and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay there. Very nice view of the Garden. One of the best location, 50 mts to beach, 50 mts to the street full of vibrant bars and market near old Nice, 500 mts to shopping street, 500 mts to View point elevator and 200 mts to tram. I didn't try the breakfast as it was very expensive compared to other hotels. But they have very good recommendations of Breakfast places close to the Hotel.

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. It was in a great location near the beach, old town, and public transportation. My first issue was with the cleaning/upkeep of the hotel (some dried liquid spilled on the bedroom door (not wiped down), and fraying cabinetry in the bathroom (needing touch paint or replacing). Another issue is the bedrooms did not have in-unit irons and ironing boards - you had to pick them up from the front desk.

Clean. Shower tray tiles missing and loose. Description was generous: "magical view". It was not. Photo on website shows a chair next to the Juliet balcony and as room so small - no chair; no opportunity to sit and enjoy the view. No lobby so meeting friends also in Hotel was on street

The hotel is perfectly located centrally in Nice, bordering the old city and a few steps from the beach. The room size was quite adequate (by french standards) and apart from the carpet quite nice. The bathroom was spotlessly clean, modern and delicate. The bed large and comfortable. The breakfast service was friendly and the selection adequate.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Albert 1 Hotel. The location was perfect for walking the Promenade, drinks on the beach and visiting the galleries, stores and restaurants. We were greeted warmly and given directions and information by the staff. Thank you!

This hotel is very old and the room we were assigned - 301 was disgusting. The old brown carpet was dirty, the furniture warn. There is no lobby. Also I paid a little more for Free Cancellation - but when we got to the hotel I was told their policy trumps Travelocity so we had to pay for the 5 nights that we did not stay. We found a much better hotel - Hyatt Regency - right on the water.

Albert 1er Hotel offers a lot... It has the best staff at the reception, house keeping, and restaurant... based on my travel experience over the last 3 decades, the staff at this hotel is really impressive... The hotel location is perfect for tourists, you can go to any place in the city and it is a 2-min walk to the best dining spot in Nice where you have access to over 30 restaurants... If you're planning to stay in this hotel, get the Sea view room... it was so awesome to wake up in the morning to that gorgeous tree top view backed by the sea view...

This hotel is awesome, breathtaking view from the balcony on 4th floor, mind-blowing staff, truly lifetime experience in Paris.

You will mostly pay for the location, the rooms are ok clean but have many problems (burn marks, holes, thorn curtains, etc...), the elevator is very slow, the view from Deluxe rooms is good but not great and the price premium is not worth it.

The hotel has excellent location in the middle of the Old Town, near the Massena Square and just in front of Promenade de l'Anglais.

I would highly recommend Hotel Albert 1er. It was my birthday, and frankly, one of the best birthdays I could have ever gifted myself. I got a privilege room overlooking the gardens - this came with bathrobes and a beautiful panoramic view of the French alps and Place Massena, which was gorgeous to watch both day and night. You can very well see sunset and sunrise. Highly recommend. Additionally, you are walking distance from everything you could need in Nice whether that's the beach, the Promenade des Anglais, Vieux Nice (in which you will be situated) or place Massena / shopping / Rue de France. I highly, highly, highly recommend. I was not disappointed. Bathroom was a standup shower (which I prefer) and the mirror had excellent lighting. Body lotion, soap, hair conditioner and hand soap are provided. Bed is firm. Really, an excellent stay.

Great staff, wonderful location. Room could be better with a small personal fan in the summer.

I had a great experience at this hotel. The rooms are really big and classy. It's located in a prime location in the main city square with bars, beach and tram station, just a 5 mins walk.
