This hotel is in a great location and is very walkable to the beach and the town Center. However the rooms were the smallest in size I have ever been in. Three people could barely fit in that jail cell with irregular working air con. Service was decent but would be snippy when asked about fixing the AC. Would avoid the triple share room.

Firstly, this is an amazing location, close to everything. My poor experience was mostly due to the air conditioner in our room not working for 7 days and the staff’s poor response to the situation. Our thermostat in our room showed temperatures of 28 + 29 the whole time. It was cooler in the hallways. The air conditioner remote only controlled the airspeed, but there was no cooling. We spoke to 5 staff about the issue. We barely slept the 7 days we were there due to the heat. We were told the only solution is to swap rooms, but the only room available is for 4 people not 2. Other small things that id usually would’ve expected at a ‘4-star’ hotel. No kettle or coffee making ability in the room. Some damaged fixings (towel hook ripped out and hole in wall), shower seals leaked terribly.

Insulting staff!!! Unacceptable behavior, definitely not recommended! Going on Vacation and Being told By the Staff you Had a Mental problem, “You and Your Family,” just because You had to Ask for water, something I had never experienced, and not to stop there; they told me, “if you are not happy, we can call the police “ and asked for my room number threatening to take me out —such a big problem out of a minor issue. All the drama because we had no water in the room and the available venting matchine, guess what?! did not take card and we were not able to purchase water. Poor customers service! Ready to prove a point but not finding a solution 👎🏼

Location was incredible although that is the only positive thing I can say. Staff were dismissive and gaslit us when we raised issues. We stayed during summer and the air conditioning in the room was broken - despite alerting multiple different staff they refused to fix this or move our room, thus we were unable to sleep most nights and felt nauseous. The staff offered no assistance or reimbursement which I found very strange considering the steep price we paid and it being a ‘4 star hotel’. The housekeeping staff were very friendly (unlike the staff at the front desk) and did a great job of cleaning the room.

You get what you pay for. This hotel is pretty much downtown Nice in close proximity to nice shopping and restaurants. It is located about halfway between the promenade and Gare de Nice (the railway station). The first impression of the hotel was not too good. It was very rustic and not well maintained. The room had a very sharp smell of chlorine and it was a fairly dark room. The view from the window was non existing since you could almost touch the window of the other side of the alley. But the room was cheap and the central location was great. So if you don't mind low standard this was a pretty okay hotel.

No A/C & staff are thieves. Worst stay in my entire vacation. Wish I would’ve known better.

Where can I start to describe how excellent this hotel is, the location is superb and at the heart of Nice.when we arrived we were welcomed by very polite, courteous,friendly and professional desk service.we arrived at a very busy time as there was a major sport event in the city yet that did not make the staff to loose thier smile and willingness to help. Extremely well located hotel close to all possible atractions in Nice. Friendly staff helps you willingly. Rooms are nice looking, clean, big enough, with shower and bath tub and some of them are even with a balcony. We will definitely choose this hotel also in the future. Our warmest recommendations! 👍

Comfortable stay, very convenient location and good WiFi speeds

I stayed at the hotel 6 nights, I noticed from the first day strange sewer smell in my room, I complained about it many times to the front office and nothing was done about it even nobody came to check the room. I asked to change my room I was told the hotel is full no rooms available… After 4 days of arguing they told me they will send someone to put a product for the smell but nothing had changed. The last night when I was in the bathroom I got some water drops on my head , looked up to find out a big whole in the ceiling and swear water was dropping from it. I was really angry and I told the reception about it they were indifferent. The next day at the check out I asked the chef of reception for a refund or at least a discount as I stayed 6 nights with the sewer smell , but she was really very rude and unprofessional she didn’t want to give me anything, she said the manager won’t accept and if I want I can contact the manager by myself as it’s my job to contact him!!!! What a customer service !!!!

The staff is very attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. The rooms are a decent size and are clean and kept clean regularly. 👌🏼The location was very ideal as it was close to a lot of the areas of interest in Nice.

it's a great spot in the city. most of the main attractions are in walking distance. The place is a bit small in my taste but I won't mind at all. During the visit we were out of the hotel 80% of the time.

Staff was friendly and helpful and spoke English. Very close to the beach and right on a main strip with lots to do within a few blocks. Hallways were a bit dark though, and the bath/shower is elevated to the point where I felt I'd fall getting in/out. There were a few flies buzzing around the room. All-in-all though, a great little spot.

We have stayed at this hotel for a short vacation. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, definitely more than expected. The location is unbeatable, with the shopping mile right in front of the door, the beaches and the old city in short walking distance. For a family with a young child, the hotel is very suitable. The breakfast buffet is rich and tasty and offers good coffee. We are very satisfied with our experience.

My review is a bit late, but I have nothing but good things to say about Hôtel Univers. After having our initial hotel cancel on us less than 24 hours before our trip with absolutely no warning, Hôtel Univers came to our rescue. The price for the location was fabulous, the bed was very comfortable, and we loved the balcony attached to our room. We would definitely stay again and recommend the hotel.
