I've never been to a sea side hotel before so for me it was one of my dream came true hotel. All the staffs were well trained and our room was good enough to enjoy our vacation. The breakfast was very good and freshly made. The view from our room was breathtaking. And the hotel has a ancient vibe which I liked the most. You will fall in love with the dining hall. It's super spacious and so beautifully decorated. Me and my husband will definitely revisit this hotel again.

Do NOT Stay at this hotel . I was looking for an average hotel to accommodate myself and 6 of my team as a reward for a great year so 5 months in advance I decoded to visit several hotels personally to see which one was the best . One of the hotels was Le Royal Nice . I requested to view the rooms personally.  I was shown a beautifully renovated room and I asked the team at the hotel if I booked through hotels.com ( because I get rewards ) would I receive this particular room style . I was assured 100% that by the Time of my visit in mod October the whole hotel would have been renovated and this is the room I would get . I arrive on the 12th October having booked 7 rooms for 2 nights plus a meeting room , only to walk into a room snelling of cigarettes that clearly hasn't been renovated in decades with alarming amounts of mould in the shower The situation is the same for all 7 rooms my team have been given I request to see the hotel manager . He informs me that I have "booked the wrong rooms " , I tell him that I had visited the hotel and his team had assured me that the rooms would be renovated ( the only reason i booked the hotel ) . He informs me that there is nothing he can do because the hotel is fully booked I check on hotels.com to find there are indeed 7 renovated rooms ( with sea views actually available ) . The manager informs me that this is true but that I haven't paid for them , I inform him yes  , but I didn't pay for unrenivated rooms either . He then proceeds to tell me that I'm in the wrong and refuses to take any responsibility for the miss selling of rooms , he then gets very confrontational with me and acts in a very unpleasant manner . Ultimately I was miss sold to by his team , he then lied to me saying there was nothing he could do to rectify the situation and that he was fully booked ( not true , he gad renovated rooms and chose not to do anything) . Thoroughly unpleasant stay , thoroughly unpleasant manager,  worst hotel experience I've ever had , look at the images of the mold in the shower. Do not stay here , absolute joke .

Staff 70/30 maybe they stick too much to their standards. On arrival (I was 3 hours early and really tired) the room wasn’t ready at 12:30. understandable. When I came back at 2pm after lunch, it was still not ready. Also understandable. So I ask for something to drink while waiting, the blonde girl (I guess new staff member) was looking to the other young lady and she answered the bar is closed. For 172€ per night that’s not a reasonable answer. Work on your service. It is not too hard to walk from reception to the bar and serve a drink by your own. My request for a room on a upper floor was followed, 🙏 to the blonde lady. The guy in the night was a gentleman as well. The room was really clean, nothing to complain at all. Maybe an ashtray for the balcony 🤣 thanks for the stay. Just serve a drink in between breakfast and opening of the bar🥂Then 5⭐️one advice to the gentle manager - respond to the reviews as it is giving also the disappointed guests the feeling to be valued and heard. 😏

Older style establishment in a most wonderful location on the Promenade des Anglais. I wanted to choose an older style hotel with a bit more character rather than a very modern one which does not necessarily convey the style or character of the place you are visiting. Thi Hotel does reflect the local theme and yes it may be a little tired in the public areas but the room we were in ( first floor with a good size sea facing balcony) was very modern to a pretty high standard. Clean, comfortable with excellent well appointed bathroom. (No Bath). Price is exceptionally competitive and you are right where you want to be to start exploring the delights of Nice. Would stay again...

It's a great spot in Nice. They need to change the carpet, it's gross. Rudest women at the reception, could use to hide her disapproval a bit more. Nice bartender at night.

One of the best choices for a stay on the promenade. Loved the terrace attached rooms. Service was great. Location was amazing.

As locals this is one of our favourite places , just for drinks or dinner on the terrace, Over looking the Med and the Bai des Anges and the masses walking cycling or jogging on The Promenade Anglais....This is the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by. The barman Gerrard as an absolute treasure.

If there were 10 stars I would give them that too. Beautiful hotel, perfect room, the location directly on the sea is a dream, the staff is very, very friendly. Simply perfect. Unfortunately, the days passed too quickly, next vacation will be there again. Everything perfect, it couldn't be better. Thank you to all the staff at Le Royal.

My elderly parents stayed at Le Royale for two weeks in February, and fell in love with this hotel. Their room was beautiful, perfectly appointed and with a most magnificent view. The breakfasts were excellent (hot and cold options) and the dinners good and very reasonably priced. All the staff are so incredibly kind and caring. My father is frail on his feet and there was always someone close by to discreetly assist him when needed. On their last day my father became ill, the manager, Frank immediately blocked their room for the next few days, arranged for a doctor and then an ambulance and assured them a warm meal would be waiting upon their return from the hospital, no matter the hour. Upon leaving a few days later, Frank organized an excellent and very affordable taxi service to the airport. From the moment contact was made for the initial booking with the reception staff, to their last day, they experienced the most wonderfully kind service. This is a very special hotel, made more so by the wonderful staff.

    Old hotel , bad service

Not great. Not terrible. The hotel clearly had it's glory days in the past. It's now firmly a middle of the road hotel that luckily has a beautiful location near the water. Never stayed at a hotel that didn't have a single room ready at 3PM check in time and we had to wait in the lobby with dozens of other guests also unable to check in.

The staff here was very helpful, even when we had a minor issue. The rooms are very spacious and the view we had was amazing. A quick walk across the road and we were on the beach.

A must stop for charcuterie! We found this on our walk down the Promenade and were quite please with the food and service!

Great location. Hotel is nice and smart downstairs but the rooms are very tired and need refreshing, the bathroom in our room was in need of serious work. It would have been great to have tea/coffee facilities in the room also. That said, the hotel was spotless, our room was spick and span. The Aircon was great and very much appreciated. I would recommend this hotel if you're on a budget and if like me you need a brew in the morning and don't want to pay €4 then take a travel kettle 😂

It's an old grand hotel on the seafront. It could have more presence if it took a bit more pride in its history and location. Shower and bath great. Bed linen good. Air con good. Bed comfortable. It just lacks a quality of care that is deserved by visitors to this grand institution.

The staff at the front desk are extremely friendly, and the location is amazing. You are right next to everything and anything in Nice. However, if you would like: A clean room without stains on the floor/doesn’t smell like smoke and to sleep at night, I would consider a different place. The walls are EXTREMELY thin. You can hear everything in the rooms beside you, even whispering. We were lucky to not have any neighbours our first night, but the second night we did, and we did not sleep until 3:00am. The room was also covered in black tar stains (likely from people smoking in the room). The whole room smelled like smoke and as non-smokers with asthma, we developed terribly sore throats and stuffy noses from the smell. Overall, an average experience. Great service but the rooms themselves are not amazing.

If you’re looking for a hotel with a warm and welcoming staff, look no further than this one. They will make you feel like family from the moment you arrive, and Nicolas will dazzle you with his radiant smile. The hotel also boasts a prime location, close to the beach and the city center. You can enjoy the best of both worlds. But don’t expect too much from the hotel itself. It’s rather basic and outdated. The good things end with the staff and the location. This hotel is in desperate need of a makeover. The carpets are faded and musty, the furniture is shabby and outdated and the bathroom is barely usable. I learned my lesson from putting my clothes in the filthy wardrobe once. Luckily, I had my trusty paper towels and cleaning spray with me. The breakfast was disappointing. It was the poorest buffet I’ve ever seen. There was nothing appealing or nutritious, just some dull and processed food. The coffee was not very tasty either. This hotel is overpriced for what it offers. It does not live up to its standards.

The room I stayed in was in a real state of disrepair and had every bad experience imaginable. The floor creaked, the carpet was dirty, the bed sheets didn't seem to have been changed, and even the attitude of the front desk staff was not bad. Fortunately, this hotel is facing the sea, although my room can't see it.

This hotel is old and is in need of renovation. Rooms are stuffy, bugs crawling in the bathroom. AC works great and views to the sea is awesome. Also rooms with balcones is a plus. Staff is friendly and competent. There was a power outage one morning and equipment did not work at the breakfast. This was unpleasant.

Incredible stay ! We had to book this hotel last minute, and thanks to Chiara, we had an amazing beach facing room. It was extremely spacious, and they even allowed us to put a 3rd bed in the room (despite us being 3 adults). The room was modern, well furnished and the bathroom was spacious. I could not recommend this place more !

Very dated room, no fridge, no coffee maker no ironing board, no bath tube, no remote control on the TV, no sea view where my Room. Nothing from the pictures. The only good thing I can say about it, the staff that are cleaning the room are doing an impeccable job, but that's the only positive I have. Very, very veeery disappointed. Never again.

A very nice hotel well located. The restaurant is very nice too, but the bar is a little expensive imo. Seeing the sea while waking up is a real pleasure, and the staff is very polite and ready to help. A great place to spend a week or two, thank you "Le Royal"

We booked a sea face room and enjoyed our stay very much. It's a super affordable hotel with the sea view location. Staffs are very friendly and services are very high class. Breakfast quality is highly recommendable. It takes only 7-10 minutes walk way from the train station and has all type of restaurent and groceries shops nearby. Will definitely revisit them.

Ok for a 3 star hotel. The room was clean but needs some renovation. Everything worked though, especially ac was good. Kept the room cool enough even when the temperature outside was 35C and the system was quiet. The city view means no view especially in the lower floors but I did not come to Nice to sit in my room and watch out the window. The staff was friendly.

The location is marvelously near anything but the hotel is very old with few renewals, poor room amenities and low breakfast quality. As if you go back several decades.

Nice hotel, personally I would stay elsewhere, but booked too late and other hotels wasn't available. Overall experience was good, rooms clean and staff professional and friendly. Most important is that you have a sea view, it is a nice walk along the beach and all the shops and places worth visiting are around.

The hotel is very much in need of refurbishment, it is shabby. Coffee maker in room did not work, nor the next one, the third was fine. Paper cups for coffee, lolly stick for spoon, not replaced daily. Very disappointed with service. Spoke to Manager, no apology, we were told to ask if we wanted more cups etc. we were given china cups a day or so later. We paid over £1800 for a week’s stay. Definitely not good value for money. The staff, however, were friendly and helpful.

The location is the most valuable thing of this hotel, the pillows and the bed are amazing but it is a little old. We had the room with city view and it was fine.

Recent stay 7th~14th July, a fantastic location and i had booked a sea view room based on previous reviews. Hotel is indeed in need of renovation but staff always helpful and courteous.

Hotel is decent! The staff is very nice and the location is great. I was in a city-side room and it's maybe a bit old-fashioned, but everything is clean and decent!

Can only comment briefly as total stay at this 'hotel' was 90 minutes. This should give an indication (and a warning) as to what to expect. We can only comment on a city view room but avoid at all costs - foul odour, black mould and damp on the carpet, broken tiles in bathroom, dust on dated furniture and headless pigeon as part of the city view. We booked this room based on the pictures offered on the website but they must have been from a different hotel. For the price of the stay you would expect more. It felt more like a hostel than a hotel. Avoid at all costs. They refused to move us rooms, even after we offered to pay for an upgrade and then told us that there would be no refund for the 90 min stay. No interest from manager as to why we were leaving. We booked in to the Best Western Plus Brice Garden - 4 star hotel 2 min walk away, cheaper than Le Royal and significantly better all round. Giving one star so I can post and perhaps prevent others from staying here.

TRULY ROYAL SERVICE AND SUPERB CUISINE On a recent business trip several weeks ago with 9 clients, I was in charge of organizing our final dinner in Nice and I chose to try the oceanfront Terrasses des Orangers at the Hôtel le Royal. I couldn't have made a more exceptional selection! To begin with, the terrace faces the Mediterranean and sits just one block from the world-famous Negresco Hotel right on the Promenade des Anglais... about as an idyllic a location as one could ask for in Nice. The minute we entered the terrace, the restaurant manager appeared with a big, welcoming smile and escorted us to our table. We then proceeded to delight in a crunchy, delicious, esthetically arranged vegetable plate with aubergine paste followed by a main course of leg of lamb with country vegetables and for dessert, quite possibly the best "omelette norvégienne" (Baked Alaska) I'd ever enjoyed. Service was prompt, friendly and professional but never rushed. I always observe how the staff gets on with one another and at the Hôtel le Royal, people seemed very relaxed and friendly and appeared to enjoy their work, which of course contributes to a positive atmosphere. Thank you Hotel le Royal for a truly enjoyable and successful evening! On behalf of my entire group I'd especially like to extend our appreciation to George and his team. The restaurant manager's mix of elegance, wit and warmth made us feel completely at home. I'm so glad that my clients ended their visit to Nice with such a cracking experience!
