I was very lucky to go on such a perfect day. There was no fog, the mountains were snowcapped, the leaves had turned beautifully, and shockingly, it wasn't crowded. Recommendations are as follows: Do the Skywalk and consider having lunch at the top. Spend some time her but leave yourself at least a couple of hours to explore the town. Be aware that there may he a queue to come back down.

Visited Hallstatt in November 2023 during autumn. A scenic destination. Went for a day trip. Unable to explore the salt mine, will definitely come again. The ferry ride from the Train station to the city is very fast. There is a ferry ride every 30 mins. Eur 7 for 2 way and only cash. Please prepare exact amount

Beautiful place with amazing views! Highly recommended for everyone visiting Austria. And don't hesitate to use a trail from Hallstatt. The elevation is easy, but the view is amazing. You can walk even with kids, just make a few more stops 👍

Very nice small town with great view. I visited here from Vienna . It took almost 4 hours to get there although the road conditions were great. If you have a car it is going to be a nice drive. Otherwise you can register with one of the day trip tours from Vienna. Obviously travelling with your own car you will be in charge if time schedule.

A day to remember! Very nice experience and the ride, the view is amazing. You go up with a funicular but you have to come early to avoid long waiting time so be there maximum 10 am

I'm not going to lie going on a day when it's snowing. I didn't expect to see anything. We were only there once, and it was fun to go up in the lift. If you are on a budget, don't do this on a snow day as you will have no visibility. You can buy the ticket for the salt mine as well. We were on a short time schedule.

It was unfortunately cloudy/raining when I visited but the view was still worth the hike up. If you're hiking up, do be careful as it's a bit tough. Takes about 25-30 minutes to hike up if you're fit. A lot of views via the hike and well worth it.

This viewpoint is located just above Hallstatt providing stunning views over the lake. This viewing platform is located on the way to salt mine. When you book a tour to salt mine, first you have to take the funicular and get to the mountain. Then you will see the skywalk bridge and then this view point. There is a lift to get on to skywalk bridge. you can see the viewpoint and then walk about 15 -20 mins on the uphill road to go to salt mine. Mine tour is on first come first serve basis and takes around 90 mins. Tickets can be baught at salt mine visitor centre located at the bottom. Online tickets available every half an hour and 60 per slot. They are for full mine tour with funicular. But you can buy tickets in person too. Then you can buy tickets only for the funicular if not visiting salt mine. This option is not available online. There are two funiculars running up and down. They run every 10 min like. Salt mine visitor centre is located in Hallstatt Lahn where Hallstatt bus terminal is located. From there its a few mins walk to visitor centre. To get to hallstatt lahn, use OBB app to find bus/train times and purchase online tickets. Otherwise you need to pay driver in cash most of the time. From salzburg, taking thd bus is easier than train. Public transport is reliable and well connected with reasonable transfer times.
