Note- remember sunscreen. The whole journey from parking to the observation was difficult for us. 2 families, 4 parents, 5 children among them a one-year-old and nine-month-old baby and a 4-month-old baby, so you can understand the difficulty and the amount of equipment we brought (only the water.... Wow, how heavy the water was...). Start with a cable car ride of a few minutes and then a walk of almost half an hour on a road most of which was bumpy which made it difficult for a baby stroller. And as befits a mountainous area, the road had many ups and downs and some of them are a bit steep, especially with a baby stroller. And then, After all that, You arrive at the observation point.... Wow Wow wow !!! No more words are needed from here, look at the photos (15 out of about 268 thousand taken by all of us) What a background, every photo is like a postcard, there are no regrets and we will surely come here again in the future and who even remembers the way up here? When everywhere you look you see a background for the desktop on the computer at work! Amazing !

This viewing platform gives stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including the Dachstein Glacier, Hallstatt, and the Salzkammergut region. You need to walk for 30 minutes from the starting point of the upper station of the cable card to five fingers. On the way toward five fingers you will see a superb view of the lake and snow mountains. They have placed benches on the mountains which will give great feelings and best moments.

Be prepared to walk, A LOT! A lot of walking is involved to get to where you want. We paid for the all-inclusive ticket but bare got to see anything cause our toddler couldn’t handle the uphill and downhill walking for a total of more than an hour. And we only found out about how much we needed to talk after we got off the cable car so that was a lovely surprise. The view is great though. Also don’t forget to wear your sunscreen and get a hat.

I cannot say in words how beautiful this place can be! So much to see and do up in the sky, you’ll not get bored. I wouldn’t worry a lot about the weather as bow it can be rainy and 30 mins later sunny.

Easy, well marked, paved trail leading to amazing views . There are 5 small overhangs that point in slightly different directions giving you great views and perspectives. We arrived on the first cabin and enjoyed being almost alone. This place will be crowded during the season.

On the hike to the 5 fingers you have an absolutely stunning view of: The Hallstatt town, the lake, and the remnant of the ice age, the glacier. The attraction is very popular so it is usually crowded. We arrived late so, there were less people. The walk to the 5 fingers takes you on a panoramic hike of 25 - 30 minute, the view is breath taking. The way back is a a bit of a climb, so it might be difficult. The whole experience is not cheap but definitely worth it.

Amazing!!!! The view is phenomenal and the walk around the place is breathtaking as well. I can only recommend. The ice cave was a fun visit and is really pretty. We ate at the little restaurant at the top and it was a wonderful experience. I come here every time I visit Austria

Easiest way by which one can reach here is by taking two cable car rides and a walk of appx. 30min. on the mountain top. It's an amazing walk with wonderful views of valleys on all sides of the mountain amongst the moving clouds.

👍 We came here to visit the Ice cave. We like it - i.e. the tour was nice. We walked 800 m/500 steps inside the cave. It took around 45 minutes. The first third was without the ice, the remaining part was with different ice shapes. We learned when and how the cave as well as the ice was formed. If you...

👍👍 Please when in Dachstein gletcher make sure to take the walk towards the shark. It's about 45mins, there is a big elevation drop at the beginning around the funicular station (you will need to climb if you take the same route back from the shark), but the environment is amazing. Different than the w...
