My husband and I traveled to Suriname during the pandemic to visit my mom who is ill. We werent sure if we'd make it through the PCR test before flying or the test Suriname requires on your 3rd day, so we decided to stay with family to avoid cancelations, etc. Ironically that family tested positive and we needed to find a hotel immediately. I had already had contact with The Bastion before we decided to stay with family. The staff was so friendly and informative, that we drove straight there when we had to find a hotel. Don't expect a slick corporate hotel, but this place is very special. The rooms and grounds are welcoming, attractive, clean and relaxed. The restaurant serves delicious meals, including to the room. Best of all: the staff is the best I have ever experienced. From the security people, to the font desk and management, they made a sudden, stressful stay lovely. Goed Zo Bastion! M. Spies!

A quiet getaway. Very friendly and helpful staff. The food at the tamarind restaurant is good although the portions are quite small. Great for couples.

A great hangout for life music in the weekend. Like Jazz, R&B, and local stuff. But good. there is accommodation for overnight stay and a restaurant. enjoy the view at sunset over the Suriname river facing the Atlantic ocean.

Op de website staat geschreven dat het restaurant vanaf woensdag is geopend. Voordat ik de reis maken van de stad naar Bastion had ik voor de zekerheid gebeld. Dame gaf aan dat restaurant gesloten was (website klopt dus niet), alleen de bar aan voorzijde geopend is tot 19.00. We hebben besloten om toch te gaan. Eenmaal aangekomen om 18u blijkt dat alles gesloten is. De front office heeft der excuses aangeboden maar goed we hebben 45 min gereden. Na dat we onze ongenoegen hebben geuit (kon ze het telefoon gesprek herrineren) konden we ineens een drankje doen op de pier. Mooi uitzicht en goed onderhouden. We vertrokken omdat we hadden gepland om daar te eten en kon dus niet. De dame bood nogmaal haar excuses en de drankjes hoeven we niet te betalen.

Hotel near to the fort with a lovely waterfront pier, restaurant, and event space. We were able to join for lunch and a cold beer on the water after walking around the nearby fort and it was a great place to relax and put our feet up. Friendly staff and beautiful view, with an attractive modern covered pier space.

Heb alleen daar naar de zonsondergang gekeken en gedineerd op de steiger De omgeving is geweldig en zeker aan te raden om daar rond zonsondergang te vertoeven, beter nog iets daarvoor zelfs! Het complex was erg rustig verder, helaas was het diner geen succes. Na ruim een uur wachten, kregen we de vis en kip die we besteld hadden. We waren nog de enige aanwezige ondertussen, kon mij niet voorstellen hoe ze dit gaan managen als er meer gasten zijn. Bediening was vriendelijke, eten in orde maar meer positief kan ik hier helaas niet melden

Everything good, but to get the 5 stars, they have to change the pool, it's to small 🤷🏻‍♀️. The place is really nice, I love it, but the pool looks like from other place. It's my opinion, I recomend they, but think about a change something like a pool from Jacana, it's accord to the place Het Bastion and will be the point to distinguish the place, and will be completely amazing experience! 🤩
