We originally applied for the Ellison at the start of December based on the stellar reviews here. Unfortunately they were bought out shortly before we applied, so we had to apply a couple of times, and some of the employees at the office were constantly losing our information we sent. It was such a hassle. We begged them to send a lease over all the way until about 5 days before our scheduled move-in date in late December, when we finally got the contract the term was wrong (12 months) and they had jacked up the price by about $400/mo on us. They said this was due to them taking the most currently listing price and since we didn't explicitly specify the lease term at the time of the application the price couldn't change. 2 days before our move-in. We were packing boxes to move cities and this was the scummiest thing I've seen a company do to a prospective resident. We noped out super quick and managed to sign somewhere else, where we signed the lease 2 hours after applying. Some luxury apartment company. Do yourselves a favor and find one of the better (and larger!) apartments for rent in the downtown Des Plaines area. We are so glad this happened because we found a way larger space with cheaper rent. The only reason I'm not giving this a 1* is because of Gil. Gilbert is part of the company that took over and he really went out of our way to fix anything in his power, unfortunately the pricing was a corporate decision but he was with us until the end. Thanks for being great Gil, but the Ellison lost some future tenants because they couldn't get their act together.

It's very rare to see an apartment complex with all 5-star reviews. Property manager, Flogert is the best manager I have ever dealt with. Customer service is phenomenal, he takes care of things instantly. Sometimes I email him outside of working hours expecting him to respond the next day but he gets things taken care of even on weekends. An exceptional individual! Grateful to have him as a manager.

I’ve been living here for 2 years. We’ve made a lot of friends and it’s tough to leave. Berkshire sold the property, so the new owners/manager have big shoes to fill. Flo and James ran a tight ship and we will miss Flo. What I will say is that the price of the rent is too high for Des Plaines. Des Plaines is middle class and just because inflation has taken place does not mean it’s acceptable to charge north of $2000 for a one bedroom. I hope Yield Star and the other software corps that dictate rent here get added onto the major class action lawsuit that was filed in Seattle. 2. Maintenance has been a bit of an issue. For the last three years, the fridge in the clubroom does not make ice. We were told that they were waiting on a part. I gave up asking. 3. Some gym equipment needs replacing. 4. Biggest complaint here is the grill is not allowed to be on during winter months. Every major competitor has said their community grill would be on during winter. 5. Clubroom is great for hosting events. However, paying to reserve the room is a bit much considering amount of rent we pay. It should be a deposit and returned. If the tenant breaks equipment, keep the deposit. 6. No sealant on counter tops. Constant water stains. 7. Parking should be free or they should buy the parking spots in front of the building for tenants to use.

I have lived at the Ellison for just over a year now and could not be happier. The staff (James and Flo) are professional and extremely welcoming, the location is convenient, the common areas are well kept and well appointed. The apartment itself is spacious with a modern feel. It is ideal.

I’ve lived at Ellison for over 6 months now and it’s really the perfect apartment complex. Things are kept neat, maintenance never waits to fix things and did I mention we have Flo! Flo is the best property manager I’ve ever experienced. He’s on top of everything and so personable. The Metra is a 4 minute walk from my front door and the parking is great around the building. I highly recommend Ellison.

Hi! I’m one of the vendors for Ellison building in Des Plaines. We’ve done window cleaning and pressure washing so far. I just wanted to point out the ease of communication with the management. I wish everyone was so easy to work with like Flogert and his associates.

We stayed at this luxury apartment complex for over two years. The management is extremely kind and personable, especially Flo! The apartment size was very spacious and the layout was open plan living. If we ever had any issues, the team addressed it very promptly. The amenities are all extremely clean and maintained. There were also a number of social events that helped us connect with other people in the building. We highly recommend Ellison Apartments!

Clean, great location, great amenities and most importantly wonderful staff. Working with Flo has been nothing short of amazing. Anything my wife and I have ever needed was handled in a timely manner with Flo going above and beyond to provide amazing customer service. I highly recommend this building. Jose who is the head of maintenance is also amazing. Quick, thorough and timely! Could not ask for anything more!

Flo Kola, the manager at Ellison, is the consummate professional. Empathetic, thorough, friendly and intelligent. It is no wonder that the apartment building is the best place to live in DesPlaines. Clean, well appointed, quiet and modern. We enjoyed every day of our two year stay. Thank you, Flo.
