What a great place and amazing vegetarian food. The staff, Rachel and her team were great and made us feel very welcome. The food was of high quality and tasty. To be honest it doesn't matter if you're vegan or vegetarian, the dishes are all good. There is lovely outside seating as well and plenty of space for big groups. They do frozen meals for home as well. Plan to visit again soon.

Was up working in Scole for a couple of days from Brighton. Looked online to see what was around that served Vegan options and saw this place. Was glad they served at lunch time. Popped in on the Wednesday and had the mushroom wellington. Wow! so much flavour and presented so well. I was that happy that I came back again the next day and was set to have the wellington but then looked at the specials board and had to try the burger, it was delicious, came with some lovely coleslaw with a nice salad and great chunky chips. I then took the plunge and had the rocky road sundae. It was huge and absolutely divine. My wife was very jealous when I shared the photo's needless to say she wants me to bring her here to try as well. The service was great, a very pleasant guy that made me feel welcome. Can't recommend this place enough. Thanks for feeding me some great vegan food whilst I was away from home.

We incidentally came to eat here as the place we had intended to eat at had wrong time posted and was closed. However, this was a wonderful happening. All vegetarian options and dessert that we had were phenomenal. Staff was beyond friendly and helpful. We had our dog out with us on a very hot day, and they brought him a cold tub of water. The surroundings are just beautiful. Lots of flowers and a nice swing bench along with a lovely outdoor garden for dining. The inside is also very charming! There's also a lovely shop next door. Honestly, would love to come back again. Thank you!

The food is plentiful and delicious. And this comes from a complete carnivore. The deserts are to die for and different from the run of the mill pub classics. Beer was very good. So all in all a very nice meal all round. Definitely shall return......try it, I promise, you shall not be disappointed. Lovely staff as well.

We drove past, looked up the reviews and gave this place a go. I'm so glad we did! One of the best meals we have had in a long time, excellent service, and excellent value. We are stuffed and smiling on our way home!

Nice pub venue. Well lit and comfortable. Welcoming staff but service was a bit slow. Nice wide selection of vegetarian food, ranging from Indian to classic pub grub. Everything we got was well flavoured and fresh. Would definitely return.

We ate here as a group of 6, including a toddler, vegetarians, vegans and an omnivore. It was an amazing menu, and the food was brilliant. Portions are very generous, the food is clearly fresh and lovingly made, and the ambience both inside and in the garden is fab. Can recommend very highly to all, no matter their dietary choices- they also cater to gluten free requirements.

Just moved to my doorstep!!! Absolutely delighted that the Walnut Tree has relocated to within a mile of me. First meal there this weekend; a few of the staff from the original venue have moved with the restaurant. Pleasant surroundings, plenty of parking and the food was delicious. Good to overhear that they were fully booked... so do ring ahead to avoid disappointment.

We were recommended The Walnut Tree by a family member and was a must for me to visit being vegan. The food was exceptional, I had the Buddha Bowl and my partner had the Enchiladas and Cheesy Garlic Bread. The portions were enormous! The restaurant was fully booked and we arrived without a reservation but the lovely staff had a table for us in the garden, which is just gorgeous. Very friendly and prompt service, we will definitely be back here. Very cute gift shop and farm style shop also just to top of the experience.

As always we had a fantastic experience here, the staff are very friendly and helpful, food is so good. This place is our family favourite, two vegetarians a vegan and me a meat eater have never been let down here. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

A very nice and comfy pub, not very far away from Norwich but it is a must!!! They have plenty different dishes to choose plus specials and desserts. The food is very good and the dessert was amazing and vegan! And also the service was so good. I am coming back soon and looking forward to tasting more!

Absolutely loved this place. Went to take my vegan friend here to get her mind off of a few things and we were very welcomed. The menu had many vegan options to the veggie main menu which was brilliant. Food was delicious and the brewskis were nice and easy to drink. Pipes here are definitely cleaned properly which is a bonus! Extra lubricant for the food. Atmosphere was cosy and the overall price of the meal was bang on. My only complaint would be the table was too high and I'm 6ft 1 so my poor short dinner guest was struggling as the seats were low however, only a minor gripe. Will definitely be coming here again!

I like my meat now and again, so I was a little dubious about the whole veggie/vegan restaurant idea. I was really impressed with the outcome, the food was amazing, I certainly have some meal ideas now! The staff were friendly and polite, there is no rush and the their dessert menu was amazing - we loved the salted caramel chocolate cake, that was out of this world. I would recommend this place, it's so under rated.

Lovely setting and lovely food. Portions, for the curry in particular, could be bit bigger for the price and pints bit short measures. But food was lovely and staff very friendly.

Lovely atmosphere and top tier vegan food. Always struggle to decide what to have because I'm not used to so many options! Nice to have some proper pub grub instead of sweet potato curry or falafel every time!

We’ve been a few times as a couple, and went as a family group on Christmas Eve to celebrate my wife’s birthday. As usual we were made very welcome, the food was delicious, service was great despite how busy it was, and the staff were lovely. Enjoyed it so much we’re coming back to celebrate my 80th in April! If you’re a meat eater, as are we, don’t be put off because the food is imaginative as well as delicious.

We were looking for interesting pubs to visit while on holiday. The Walnut Tree certainly fitted that description with a vegetarian menu. The food was good as was the local beer. We ended up buying some bottles and to take away. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Great place, I am not a vegetarian but my wife is. We had passed The Walnut a few times and I decided to book a table for lunch so we could try it out. It is totally a vegetarian (with vegan options) restaurant, the menu is diverse and reasonably priced. They have a good website with the menu. My wife thoroughly enjoy her meal, as did my son and myself. We will definitely be stopping there again. Comfortable surroundings and welcoming and friendly staff.

Food was excellent, service was excellent, my only criticism is too many plastic screens between tables felt a bit squeezed in a corner, staff were friendly and polite and helpful so overall 4 and 1/2 star's

Food was amazing! Thai Penang curry was so flavoursome and the best I’ve tasted since going to Thailand 7 years ago and that includes going to some Thai restaurants! The dessert was to die for - highly recommended and can’t wait to go again!!

Great food really and great service. We had the gyoza, camembert and crispy tofu for starter - all well done. For main we had the mushroom Wellington which looks like the speciality - beautiful. This place is perfect for vegetarians and vegans well worth any trip!

Lovely pub/restaurant veggie/Vegan place to eat. Beautifully decorated old bar Food was excellent. Vegans are spoilt for choice. Dogs are welcome. I had the Jalfrezi which was full of veggies and flavour. It is a must try for anyone in the area. Best to book a table. Please remember this place is not just for veggies and vegans. Omnivores will enjoy the atmosphere and food too.

I wasn't expecting to find such a delicious vegetarian restaurant outside of a city. The menu has a wide range of options, all vegetarian with many vegan dishes available too. I visited with a large group, and all of the meals looked amazing, with everyone thoroughly enjoying their food. Portion sizes were generous and prices very reasonable. I'm looking forward to visiting again.

The best range of vegetarian and vegan options we have found in 41 years of seeking out good places with veggie food! We bought 6 takeaway meals to try and they too are delicious.

There was nothing bad to say about our experience. The food was of top notch quality and high quantity. Plenty of choice on the menu, as well as drinks. Real highlight was the service. Our host had the perfect blend of friendliness, sass and charisma, they really made us laugh and made us feel at home. Next time we’re in the area we will definitely be visiting again.

Fantastic. The food was brilliant and the people here are so lovely and really welcoming. The atmosphere is lovely. An added bonus for us is they are very dog friendly and our rescue boy was welcomed. We will definitely be back. Get the ginger and pear desert! Perhaps the best desert you'll ever have.

Really delicious and yummy food, with a great range of vegan and vegetarian options available with all the food being vegetarian and a vast majority being vegan, or with the vegan option available. Incredibly well cooked with dessert (as pictured), a vegan rocky road special, beautifully presented. Lots of seasonal ingredients used, and delicious vegan mushroom wellington and vegan lasagne. In terms of getting there, you'll need to access by car unless you live in Thwaite or Cotton in which case it's a short cycle ride away. Easy to access in Thwaite along the A140. Lots of parking available. There are also very good value frozen takeaway meals to cook at home, and if you ask for the extended frozen takeaway menu you can even get some delicious frozen items that might normally be included within meals on the restaurant menu, including being able to order vegan mushroom wellington as a takeaway to cook at home. Well recommend!

The reason I have given the service a relatively low score is only because it was slow. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As for the food it was very good and you don't have to be a vegetarian to enjoy it. Good varied selection. My only other minor quibble is that the table was a bit low, all that beings aid I plan to go back so that's a good sign.

First visit here and definitely won't be the last. What a gem of vegetarian pub. Staff most welcoming, food simply delicious, great pricing too. Love the garden or the back. We will return ❤️

We are not vegetarians but have a friend who is, so have brought her to The Walnut Tree on a few occasions. The eating experience is of the highest quality, which means our guest can have the pick of a full menu (as opposed to the token vegetarian option offered at most pubs and restaurants) while we can enjoy a delicious meat-free meal, without feeling we have made a culinary sacrifice. We have always experienced a top quality and lovely country pub/restaurant experience. Our veggie friend is moving back to the USA next week, but we will definitely continue to be customers in her absence!

Booked online for birthday meal out, they had no record of us. Managed to find us a table but starters took 45 mins to arrive. Some of dishes were delicious, some weren't so great. We didn't even stay for pudding 😕 But garden is dog friendly so we might go again, but not for a special occasion.

A really lovely place to eat. In recent years this pub was refurbished and they did a brilliant job, making it a lovely place to eat out. They offer a really great range of Vegetarian dishes and on most of them can make Vegan versions too. Every meal I have had is very filling. The staff are very kind and welcoming too. Definitely recommend. Easy to find being on the A140. Lots of parking too, and the new flat gravel driveway/parking area makes it wheelchair accessible.

Oh my goodness! The welcome we recieved walking though the door until we left was second to none! Sophia and Zac were super friendly, efficient yet not in your face. But there magically when you needed them. The food was like a taste explosion in my mouth. I shared a budda bowl with my friends as a starter. All fresh and well matched with plenty to share with my the other friends. We followed up and I got to share an asparagus, brie & spinach pancake half, half with a mushroom Wellington. Super tasty I even managed to steal a slice of butternut squash and oyster mushroom pie with smoked cheese. Wow, so a really rich flavour. Pudding was a shared experience also, goodness me im glad we are super good friends as I could not have only chosen one dish. We all shared the dark chocolate and ginger torte (made with tofu, amazing), cherry and almond franipane tart and an apple, oat and date crumble. We even took away some of the tasty freshly prepared home made frozen ready meals. Super lovely, we will return xxx

Really good food and excellent friendly service in a lovely, restored building. The place has quite an intimate feel and there was a friendly atmosphere generally. Very, very clean and some interesting food and drink choices. There is also a decent sized and well maintained car park for good measure. My wife is the vegetarian but I had no problem with the many vegetarian dishes on offer and the variety of tastes and textures really was first class. We will definitely go again.

Everything about the Walnut Tree is fantastic. You get a warm welcome and are well looked after throughout. It's a beautiful old pub well presented and the food us always top notch. Not a bad word to be said about. Whether vegetarian or not, go here! You won't regret it.
