There's nothing I love more than quaint little spots & people who greet you warmly when you walk through their door • Goji won me over straight away... My partner and I stopped in to pick up a few things we could take away for a little picnic outside, and were really pleased with the number & variety of dishes that were both vegan and gluten-free; not only that, but that the lady serving us knew immediately what was safe for us to have (you just don't find that often enough)! Service was truly exemplary, and everything we ordered was delicious • really really lovely experience, and we couldn't believe how reasonably priced everything was! Three cheers for Goji Cafe!!! ♡♡♡

Fabulous little eatery. Gorgeous whole food meals and sweet treats. We sat in the lovely seating area outside and enjoyed a trio of salads followed by a superb chocolate, mint and berry ganache. Super food and friendly service, with reasonable prices for central York, highly recommended.

Lovely outdoor courtyard area. Wonderful lunches - I had the gluten free chickpea frittata which had leeks and courgette inside. It was delicious! Served with a beetroot sauce, salad, cashew cheese and asparagus. Lots of vegan options. Highly recommend!!

Gorgeous little cafe, excellent choice of vegan/veggie meals. Food was amazing, excellent service, friendly and attentive staff. Lovely outdoor walled courtyard, perfect venue to enjoy a wholefood lunch. The chocolate blackberry and mint ganache was out of this world 🌠

I really wish I had taken some photos of this lovely little cafe in York. Took a couple of none vegan/vegetarian friends in for coffee and cake. We all had the dark chocolate and orange cake with vegan ice cream, delicious! My friends were vegan cake newbies and they were not disappointed! Love the fact that they use their wall space to display creations from local Artists. Finally revisited York and Goji! Its well worth the 210+mile round trip 😜 I tired the Middle Eastern Patter for 1 and my word, everything tasted divine! Taste explosion inside my mouth with every bite. We took a piece of the blueberry cheesecake (made fron nuts) Dam! I wish I could hire the chef for my personal use 🤪 If you are in York and you prefer vegetarian and vegan food, look no further than Goji! Until my next trip Goji, I am currently in my kitchen trying to recreate these amazing dishes. 🌱💚

In York for the day Christmas shopping and not sure where to eat, we found this great little cafe in the heart of York serving a good selection of vegan and vegetarian food.Plenty of tables and a good atmosphere.Friendly knowledgeble staff. Both had the vegan all day breakfast. Would recommend if you are visiting York, also great selection of vegan cake's.

Great cafe, good food, good drinks, good service, friendly staff. Only negative was it was a bit on the expensive side. There is a small outdoor private area at the rear that is nice to sit in. It's enclosed by brick walls, so it's quiet and sheltered. Good selection of gluten free cakes. Wise selection of teas, including flowering teas. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic vegetarian cafe in the heart of York! A proper vegetarian cafe, with loads of vegan and gluten free options. Perfect for breakfast, brunch or lunch (and cakes at any time of day!). Super friendly and accommodating staff - would definitely recommend!

Had to wait 15 minutes or so, to get a table. I would have waited longer if necessary, as soon as I tasted the food, I knew why it was so popular!! The staff were very friendly, and the building had an extremely homely atmosphere! The mushroom burger, and sweet potato wedges were delightful! I can only recommend this place👌💯

The best vegan cafe in York. What a relief to find a cafe with many, many, vegan choices. Quality food that tastes great (savoury & delicious cakes). The staff are inviting, friendly and knowledgable about their products. A vegan in York ? … save your time looking for the perfect cafe for lunch - head here!

Discovered this wonderful Vegetarian Deli while walking towards York City Center. Variety of salads, drinks and wraps. I ordered a masala chai with broccoli salad and Falafel which was served with a delicious beetroot dip. I loved the food and ambience. Will definitely return when back to York.

Nice little cafe with a cute outdoor seating area as well as indoor. Food was really tasty and presented nicely. Vegan options as well as all the vegetarian. A little slow service but nothing to complain about. Staff were great too. Would recommend!

Looking for something that looked healthy and tasty in York we found Goji cafe through Google maps. Neither of us are vegetarian but that was no reason for us not to try Goji. We found the staff to be friendly and although a seat outside in the sun would be nice we contentedly sat indoors. Both meals we ate were delicious and were served in good time. My falafel burger was excellent and loved the sweet potato wedges. Happy to recommend and would be happy to return.

Wonderful little cafe/deli. Food was super fresh and really tasty. Staff were attentive and kind / helpful. Welcoming atmosphere for everyone, even (noisy) toddlers, which isn't the case everywhere. 3 year old loved the vegan frittata. Excellent choice of tea too. Highly recommend 💚😊😊

So many vegan options! We wanted to get a bit of everything but had to limit ourselves! We grabbed a take away salad box for £5.45ish which was perfect for lunch :) everything was so fresh and we wish something like this existed round the corner from our home!

Five of us went for lunch today, had to wait at little while to get a table but it was well worth the wait. The food was amazing such wonderful flavours and very well presented, and all of the staff were lovely. Definitely recommend it and we will all make a point of going again, hopefully soon.

A small cafe (though with more seating than one might expect from the front step) with a wonderful array of cakes in the window to tempt you in, and glorious food to satisfy any appetite. The menu is mostly vegan, and those delightful cakes in the window are as well. I indulged in the vegan afternoon tea, which was every bit as delightful, delicious, and filling as I had hoped. I don't think that I can justify having it again in the week remaining of my visit, but I would certainly come back to York simply to indulge again.

Great vegetarian / vegan food in a cosy, art-filled cafe across multiple floors. The vegan mushroom burger with smoked tofu was delicious. Toilets are up two flights of stairs so not accessible for everyone, though. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in York.

Loved this place. The food and service was amazing! It's a shame that even with the current situation that I couldn't tip on their card machine... the service industry relies on tips.

Always good. The best salads to go with mains. The only criticism is if you aren't there early enough they sell out of things. Great coffee n teas too.

Outstanding vegan/vegetarian restaurant. Every dish on the menu sounded tasty and the 3 we selected exceeded our expectations. The burgers we order (quinoa & mushroom) were huge and were awesome. They came with sweet potato wedges that were cooked to perfection. My daughter elected to go with the afternoon tea. Again, more than enough food and each layer was absolutely delicious..

  • 5/5 Daniel S. 2 years ago on Google
Wonderful! Fantastic Vegan/veggie menu and all produce is of very high quality - I would definitely recommend the delicious mushroom burger which is bursting with flavour! There is also a large selection of unique teas/other drinks to choose from, and the setting is cosy and wholesome.

Lovely staff member that served us. She was very bubbly and smiling all the time. (The first server). Food was nice, but the wait was quite long. It wasn't too busy either. Lovely quiet place normally, but spoilt by a group of loud, cackling women on the table in the corner. There is talking loud and Talking VERY LOUD!! Even the table opposite us were not happy. Not the fault of Goji, I know that. If service had been a bit quicker, it would have been 5 stars.

  • 4/5 Andrew W. 1 year ago on Google
It's vegetarian and vegan, there is a very good selection on the menu and as takeaway. Service is fast and friendly and the prices are fine. I had a vegan mushroom burger, the salad and sweet potato were very nice but the burger was disappointing, the mushroom was lacking in flavour and the thick slab of smoked tofu was too much. I will go again to try out the rest of the menu because I did get a good feeling about the place.

Goji has been my favourite café in York for four years. The food is amazing, they have a great range of teas and cakes, and the building is so full of character. The service isn't always the quickest but it's completely understandable given how busy they get!

Stopped here for a very impromptu Saturday brunch whilst walking around York a real stumbled upon moment The food was really good absolutely delicious my partner had a savory tart whereas I went for cake We were both incredibly pleased with the offerings and left with happy full bellies!

Wow! Amazing vegan hot dog with all the works. Loved it xx

  • 3/5 Simon B. 3 years ago on Google
We visited here for lunch. My vegan partner loved this place but as a non-vegan I didn't find much I wanted to eat. The only thing that was close to normal food was the afternoon tea so I had that. It was admittedly lovely but it was a shame that none of the savoury options were appealing to a non vegan. What's wrong with a plain cheese and onion quiche for instance? Or a hummus and roasted veg sandwich? Or a plain mixed green salad with tomatoes? There was nothing like this on the menu. But as I said my vegan partner loved it. She would give this 5* but I couldn't give it more than 3*.

The place is very cozy and the staff is nice. Portions are great and I loved their rich and filling side salads. Prices are good too! Great choice both for lunch or snack/tea time (cakes looks and tastes amazing)

Love Goji and glad it is still doing well. Food is delicious, I had soup of the day, dill leek and potato, yummy. Wish I'd had room for the salad or quiche which are always excellent. Special dessert of spiced bakewell tart also yummy 😋 Thank you!

Great place for vegan food, really tasty. Would definitely come here again. Clean and comfortable place. Plenty of options. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I had a tofu hotdog with sweet potato wedges with an organic whole earth cola. I was stuffed but had enough room left for a delicious pudding. A vegan blueberry cheese cake with vegan ice cream. Just to die for. Perfect end to our meal. Would highly recommend even if your not vegetarian or vegan.

Goji is the best of both worlds when it comes to vegan food. There's things like hotdogs and burgers but also excellent salads, cakes and soups. So healthy or not you choose

Absolutely brilliant! The most wonderful soup!!! Good service. Lovely lil restaurant with great ambience and character. A little courtyard with hanging baskets with tomato plants in. Food as fresh as!! Can get busy with queues at key times. Revisit: Leek, pea, mint soup ohhhh my oh my....this has to be the best bowl of soup in York. It is totally divine and worth going to Goji for this soup alone. Purrrr factor extremely high. 😻 They sold out of the soup in a very short time after opening. A first for me, I tried the flowering tea, red amaranth. It came in a clear glass teapot, quite delightful. I was initially sat outside on this extremely mega-watty-hotty day. But there was a mighty pungent whiff of drains wafting around, not sure from which premises but upon mentioning it, I was swiftly moved indoors to an alternative table away from the offputting pong. Note to self, on hot days sit indoors. Did not detract from the wonderful food. Small premises, hardworking crew of staff. Very highly recommended. All within is yum! Thank you for looking after me.

Amazing place, made exceptional by very pleasant staff. The food was also delicious; we had the Middle Eastern Platter and the falafel in the platter was the best we ever had. For dessert we also ordered the Cheesecake and Chocolate Cake and they were also lovely. Would highly recommend.

Lovely cafe. I had the spinach and feta filo pastry and mixed salad which was delicious and the coffee is lovely too. I really like the fact that the whole menu isn’t vegan so you can have dairy options too

  • 5/5 Petya Z. 2 years ago on Google
Enjoyed a delicious lunch here. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food was amazing. We had the hot dog (which was quite large) and the all day brunch. My only wish would be that the brunch comes with baked beans as that's usually a highlight of an English breakfast for me. However, it was still lovely without. We also split a sundae which was devine.

I came to Goji cafe expecting big things, hearing it's reputation as "the best veggie restaurant in York" and I was not disappointed. I ordered the Mushroom and Halloumi burger, and I would absolutely recommend this as it was gorgeous, as were the sweet potato wedges that came as an accompaniment. My partner's quinoa burger was also very nice, but not as good as my burger! We concluded our lunch out with sharing a slice of chocolate cake that was so good I considered ordering another slice just for me. The building of Goji Cafe is very unique and full of character, definitely an unconventional yet quirky place to host a restaurant. Additionally, I thought the local art on display and available for purchase scattered through the building was a lovely touch. The staff at Goji were informative and very friendly, delivering a fast but effective service with a smile throughout. You could tell all the servers were slightly tired however, and I think everyone would've benefited with having a few more hands on deck. Ultimately, my only criticisms lie with the pricing of the menu, while under £10 for a lovely burger and wedges is a great deal (especially in York), the portion of wedges seemed slightly disappointing and left me feeling not entirely full. Additionally while the cake was delicious, I thought £3+ for 1 slice was slightly on the expensive end of cakes I have bought. Considering the majority of the customers were clearly students, it was slightly disappointing to see Goji offered no student discount or lunch set deal (perhaps including a main, slice of cake and drink for £12-15 or something) and I think it could highly benefit from this. However, do not let my minor criticisms take away from the wonders that this vegetarian hive has to offer, and it is an absolute must-go for any vegetarian or vegan seeking a meal out in York.

We went for a weekday lunch after several recommendations. The beetroot and onion tart was really rich and tasty, the salads all lush (carrot and butterbean in a garlic rosemary dressing was amazinggg). Coffee great, tried the cafeteria and soy cappuccino. The pistachio cake was delightful and the vegan scones a rare treat too. Can’t wait to visit York again so I can sample some more plant based deliciousness.

My fourth visit here - I had their salad platter with halloumi. Lentil avocado rocket salad and spiced cauli salad were excellent. Portion of halloumi seemed a little small but I was full afterwards so perhaps that was wise?! Smoothie was tasty - an orangey mangoey one this time but I’ve also had a good green smoothie here. My sister had the cashew cream tart (also had caramelised onions in) which was absolutely delicious! Nice atmosphere, always busy so on this occasion we got the slightly draughty table.
