Quirky vegetarian cafe that takes you back in time to vegetarianism in the 2010s- think cheese sandwiches, soups, lentil curry. Cafe has an additional shop selling a small selection of items like veggie marshmallows. Unsuspecting entrance and could be sign boarded better, the cafe is up on a third floor with narrow stairwell

The Egg is wonderful! I've been eating here for over a decade, and it's always the yardstick with which I measure the worth of any other indie/veggie place, or even just eating out elsewhere while I'm in Liverpool City Centre - and it's so rare that I'll end up being as impressed anywhere else as I am by the Egg! The food is fantastic, home-made, fresh, and just makes you feel like you're walking out the door healthier than when you entered - and to be able to say that when it's been so delicious, too, is wonderful! It's such a vibrant, welcoming space to eat in, too. Honestly, you can't go wrong, if you haven't tried it yet, go give it a try; I'm sure it'll become one of your favourites right away, like it has for everyone I've ever taken there!

The Egg Vegetarian Cafe in Liverpool is a delightful hidden gem. Housed in a lovely old building, it offers a pleasant and airy atmosphere. Their lasagna is simply amazing, bursting with flavors. The staff are friendly, creating a welcoming environment. It's the perfect place to unwind, enjoy delicious food, and soak in the charm of its historic surroundings.

I visited at lunchtime as I hadn't been able to eat at home. I was surprised by how much I felt that I had missed this venue when I walked in. Used to ordering from the counter I was taken aback to find myself directed to a table and informed that someone would take my order shortly. This gave the space a much different vibe which I find to be fitting for the space. A glass of water was brought to my table along with the menu and I was told someone will be back shortly to take my order. I was already feeling very welcome once again. I opted for three courses which is anything off the menu, the value of your main and add six pound to it. It makes for a very simple pricing structure. I had curried parsnip soup for starter, sausage and mushroom pie with lots of salad for main and banana cake for dessert. Each course was the perfect size and I was left requiring only a snack for my dinner that evening. The soup came with garlic bread and was perfectly spiced. The pie contained, mushroom, carrot, cauliflower and a tasty gravy. The banana cake was tasty as always. My one criticism is that the cakes have never changed in the many years that I have been eating there. Whilst the banana cake is very tasty, it is the only one they have which is vegan although there are lots of other great looking cakes that they sell. Let's talk about money. It cost me £15.50 for a three course meal including a drink. The costs vary depending upon what you order but if you are going for three courses like I do, expect to pay between £13.50 and £16.00 pound which will obviously increase depending on when you view this review.

I was looking for somewhere new to try which met my dietary requirements and I was not disappointed. The food is very good value for money with plenty to choose from. I had pancakes but needed help to finish them! I would definitely recommend. For those with limited mobility be advised you need to climb quite a few stairs

Fabulously dishevelled! Lovely vegetarian & vegan cafe, with giant and delicious vegan breakfasts. Chilled and friendly atmosphere, which we absolutely loved. Could not recommend enough

This cafè kept coming up high on the list of vegan friendly places to try while in Liverpool. There's a big stair case to climb but once you are at the top it's deffinatly worth it. The aesthetic is eclectic quirky and warm, it will remind you of spiritual new age shops and it has a calming energy perfect for having a relaxing coffee or meeting up with friends. The service is really friendly and the prices were great. My pancakes were the best I have had and when I go back to Liverpool it's 100% I will be going back here.

This place has been in my life for such a long time. It's been a favourite of mine for around 20 years now. So happy it's still going and still as beautiful as it was all those years ago. Thanks for being awesome 💚

I agree with a previous reviewer that the food is vegetarianism of the 2000s… but my veggie quiche was HUGE and delicious so very happy here! Along with the sides, it was quite a satisfying meal. Funky decor and friendly staff, albeit a lack of places to plug in.

Really nice cafe with a good atmosphere. The cafe is up stairs. We had the pancakes which were absolutely delicious and had some berries inside them. The vanilla milkshake is very smooth and it came with vegan cream. There is a counter where they keep jugs of water that you can go up and help yourself to when you want it. I thought the designs on the chairs were cool too. Also very budget friendly. The staff are really nice and they all have cool outfits. Will definitely come back.

Absolutely delightful! The Egg invites you to its top floor and welcomes in a cozy, authentic and hip (positively) interior. The food has a homemade feel, portions are large and filling. Despite being a flexitarian I found my bean burger fantastic and full of flavour. It was accompanied by a fresh salad and hot pitta bread. Lemonade was a bit too sweet for my taste, but I countered it with a delicate espresso. Overall wonderful experience, would recommend to everyone who wants to escape the chain restaurants.

Lovely little top floor cafe serving tasty homemade vegan and vegetarian food. 3 course deal for just over a tenner welcome relief on the wallet too. Relaxed atmosphere, highly recommended (but remember to bring own wine, if you like a tipple with your food, as has no licence to sell). 5 stars.

Nice Vegetarian food in an interesting Café up two flights of old creeky stairs in a terraced house type place . Bit confusing when we bumped into another customer at the top of the stairs as the doors were shut & looked very much closed, It wasn't but put a sign on the door please 😀 Funky styled Cafe with a mezzanine floor & a bit of a 60s vibe . Friendly enough staff but as it was early afternoon some food options had sold out. Nice food maybe nothing too groundbreaking but tasty & a good price. 👍🏻 Lovely cooked

Everything about this place is fantastic. The food selection, the pricing, the serving sizes, the staff, the atmosphere. Highly recommended for vegetarians, vegans and non-vegetarians. Breakfast, lunch or dinner. Just go! 18/03 Just visited again with my parents. The cheese on toast is still the best!

Great little place! Quirky decor, with plants and purple paint around the place. It’s slightly off the main street and up two flights of stairs but worth it. The food is delicious, with good portion sizes, and the staff are friendly and the service is good. Recommended!

I found this place completely at random while visiting Liverpool for the Beatles Week. I had to double check outside since it looks like the entrance to a residential building. But at the top you emerge onto a cool, open restaurant. Everything is vegetarian, and vegan is easy. Staff was super friendly. Food was tasty. Recommended and I would definitely go again.

One of the best little Sunday brunch locations I've been to in months. Unpretentious but absolutely delicious vegan food, pancakes were outstanding, vegan cooked breakfast was amazing. Friendly service, great atmosphere, rustic but still comfortable. Would absolutely come back here again:)

Visiting from Glasgow a really great find. They cater for people with allergies and gluten issues they will modify ingredients for you and they have a large and varied menu feeindly staff and the place has a really nice feel to it. Will be going back while we are here. After another visit I really cannot recommend this cafe enough. They bent over backwards to accommodate my allergies. The staff were very friendly and happy and the portion sizes are excellent. Thank you very much for excellent service.

This is a long standing Liverpool institution for vegetarians & vegans. The food is wholesome & tasty at very good prices. It has.a Bohemian atmosphere, is a great place to meet friends + I also feel comfortable here eating on my own. However there are a lot is stairs to walk up to get here but it is worth it if you can manage stairs.

First time visit from this fussy Irish Vegan and so HAPPY I did. Ordered the full English Vegan fry up and it was plentiful and delicious and comes with a choice of tea, coffee or juice, I grabbed the coffee. The staff are so friendly and when I asked was the butter Vegan the chef came out and said yes and reassuringly told me that all vegan meals are 100% vegan, and such a good vibe in this cafe DEFINITELY check it out if in Liverpool.

Love this place. Food and atmosphere excellent. The food is superb, so tasty, and that's coming from an omnivore!! The egg cafe is my go to when I'm in Liverpool - it's actually just worth coming to Liverpool to eat here!

So so good. This place serves real home cooked food, vegetarian and vegan. Wonderful salads, falafel, bean burgers, lasagne, quiche, tandoori mushrooms, soups. We keep coming back when in Liverpool.

Never heard of this place before, and I'm not vegetarian but we went with a friend who is and it was lovely. Only issue was the beans were not massively hot but it's not even an issue and it could do with a sign on the building as I had no idea were its was until the sandwich board came out.

Was okay not a place I’d probs come again to personally as there wasn’t too much options for me to eat. My fiancé and I came in and Sadly they were all out of pancakes because of pancake day on Tuesday (we went Friday) so I decided to get vegan cheese on toast the bread was nice however the sides were very burnt so left those the vegan cheese was really nice. It did fill me up as bread was dense but wasn’t too great! Staff was very nice and lovely tho and prices reasonable! Edit* Went back in June to get pancakes this place redeems itself s lot as the pancakes were amazing!’

This is a 10/10 place!! It was my first time in Liverpool and I must say I'm impressed. I haven't found places which usually offer a three-course meal. It was with it!! The portions were reaaally big!!!! Although I cleaned the plates 😂😂. Kind and friendly staff, they recommended things to try. Loved the carrot cake it was amazing!!! I was there for hours cause I loved the vibes and food!! Everything made justice to the price. I don't know what else I should say. It's simply perfect for vegan /vegetarian food.

I'm not a vegetarian & thought a restaurant meal without meat would seem like half a meal. Was proved masively wrong last night.Ordered the leek and cheese special & it was quite frankly, one of the best meals I have ever tasted in any restaurant.I am not exageratting. Quite genius to make a vegetarian meal taste so savoury.Every part of the meal was perfection too. The front of house staff and the chilled atmosphere were also great. All in all, it was an excellent experience.

The people are really friendly and the vibes are great overall, but I would say if you like flavourful food (well seasoned food), this isn't the place for you. The food was just so bland it was actually hard to swallow at some point. The bean burger wasn't an actual burger it was a very dry patty and my partner and I couldn't even finish out food.

  • 5/5 Yu-Ting C. 1 year ago on Google

Fabulous hidden gem of Liverpool city centre, just off Bold Street. The food is really lovely, with plenty of options for us vegans. The staff are super friendly, and there's always plenty of seating when I've been here. The decor and atmosphere is quirky, and it's so calming away from the busy streets below. The Egg Cafe is up about two flights of stairs and to my knowledge there is not a lift.

Nice lunch here recently it was quite busy and hectic, it was a bit of a free for all when it came to seating which I found stressful in such a popular spot but we managed to get a table I ended up only have coffee and cake but have on good authority the main dishes our table got were well enjoyed and delicious, and can only sing the praises of the carrot cake I had

This is one of my favourite places to eat. Vegan and vegetarian friendly. The full vegan breakfast is a hit as is the spicy bean burger. It’s up 3 flights of stairs in an old Victorian building but well worth the climb. If you have problems with stairs you would have to give it a miss. The produce is fresh. The atmosphere is chilled. The staff are lovely. They also cater for vegan desserts too. If you’re in the area give it a try.

(Translated by Google) The atmosphere is very pleasant, airy and with large windows. The café has two floors and has collective tables. In addition to the options being vegan and vegetarian, the dishes are made only with organic products. There is always a choice of soup of the day (plant based) and also three options of dishes that vary according to the day of the week. This type of menu is quite common in restaurants in the UK and Europe as well. We ordered Spinach Tortilla and Fresh Hummus for lunch and both are delicious! Além das opções serem veganas e vegetarianas, os pratos são feitos somente com produtos orgânicos.
