Out of all the vegan restaurants I went to in many different countries, this is by far the best vegan restaurant! The taste of the dishes is amazing and so fresh. The waiters are also very friendly. Can highly recommend! Book your table in advance though

Incredible place. The quality of food is outstanding and the staff honestly incredible, fast service, they recommend you different dishes and are interested in your opinion. The local is not noisy, good level of light not too intense nor dark, peaceful place overall. Long list of dishes so good that it is even difficult to believe they are vegan. I will repeat without any doubts and will recommend it to everybody.

Great vegan cafe. We were lucky as we turned up on a whim - probably better to book in advance. Atmosphere is very relaxed. Whole menu is vegan but the choice of dishes was very impressive and the quality of food is amazing . Compliments to the staff! Portions very generous so 3 courses did leave us very full! Thoroughly recommend

Delicious vegan twist on Italian recipes: the result is a tasty menu of well presented food. Quite a few gluten free options available despite most dishes being pasta and pizza based. Wide selection of Italian liqueurs. Friendly service, there was only one chef in the kitchen (Sunday lunchtime) but overall food got to the table resonably quickly, also considering we were a party of seven. Booking recommened as it's a small restaurant. Prices: around £11-15 a portion, we ended up spending £20 each for a shared roman focaccia, a main and a digestif. Would recommend to vegan and non vegan friends alike!

An absolute must if you’re vegan/veggie and crave an extensive menu full of delicious options. We would come back every night if we could. I had the spaghetti carbonara and my partner had the seitan pizza and we were blown away by the portion sizes and the quality. It’s such a cosy little place so booking is a must! Our waiter was really friendly and the whole atmosphere was perfect. One of the best meals out we’ve had for ages!

Reservation recommended. Had a lovely dinner here. The owner and her partner moved from Italy and started this restaurant and having been to Italy last year, it felt very authentic! Had delicious cheese foccacia bread, Lasagna, and a carbonara pasta and my non vegan partner loved it as well!

A must visit. The food, service and atmosphere were perfect! I’m not personally vegan but my girlfriend is, so it was refreshing for her to have more than one or two options like she usually does in restaurants. Having the whole menu vegan meant a lot to her and the food was delicious

Another wonderful experience at Novapizza. We first visited here on a trip to Edinburgh in 2019 and the food and service have only improved. Delicious and filling! The restaurant is small so it's a good idea to book, but you won't regret it.

My BEST meal in Edinburgh. That vegan carbonara pasta..... It was incredible. You really taste the fattiness specific to pork, but cruelty-free. We had a burrata as an entrée and it was excellent. The Novapizza pasta with a rich garlicky tomato sauce and stracciatella was also great. The Crema Catalana was refreshing. Unfortunately I don't live in Edinburgh, this would be my go-to place anytime.

The BEST vegan pizza I've had in 12 years as a vegan! I'm not kidding here folks. The crust was thin but the pizza was loaded with toppings. I had a pizza bianca, Cacciatora. (Again, the best!) My husband had the Meat Feast. He really enjoyed it but I think he liked mine more. We also had the gnocchi pesto di rucola e pomodori confit. They were light and fluffy with a great sauce and the walnuts gave a nice contrast and crunch. For dessert, I had the affogato which was simple but fantastic! My husband has the tiramisu, it was fluffy and rich without being too sweet. Now. The employees...they were delightful, kind and jokey. They made us feel comfortable and welcome. They also knew the menu like the back of their hands. I appreciate that kind of attention when dining at a one of a kind restaurant. When I'm back in Edinburgh, I'm definitely going there again. Wow!

Wow. Amazing. Small eatery so make sure to book! We had the aubergine Parma starter to share, bloody Mary's were delicious, pizza was fantastic (make their own cheese which has a real nice taste) and the spicey pasta... everything finished and full.... but as we finished a delicious red wine we ordered chocolate cake to finish the meal. Front of house fantastic and attentive. Would eat here 2 days in a row if we had an extra night (its a bit pricey but worth it)

Amazing! Such a special little place and find for vegans and non-vegans alike. They were so kind and engaging and helped to give us great suggestions (thank you, Serena!). Make sure to book a reservation ahead of time, as it’s a smaller restaurant. The small size makes for a great atmosphere, though! In reference to the photos: We got the burrata cheese plate (vegan burrata, homemade pesto, tomatoes and rocket) with an order of focaccella romana (soft and thick focaccia bread). The combination of all of those together in one bite was truly incredible. Could eat that focaccia for every meal! We also ordered the carbonara pasta and funghi e prosciutto pizza. Both were very good! It was so hard to decide, so we can’t wait to go back and try other options. The burrata and focaccella romana will be an every time choice, though!

Took myself for a date and I cannot say enough. This was damn delicious I wish we had one at home, although then I would spend all of my money there so maybe for the best. The antipasti was incredible, the focaccia crispy and fluffy, the pizza, divine. I also have enough leftovers for 2 days.

Delicious Italian food - fully vegan but even meat eaters would love it. Delicious flavours and the homemade 'bacon' was amazing! A great range on the menu for food and wine too.

Yum!! We got the burrata + focaccia, carbonara, pesto gnocchi, and tiramisu. It was all so tasty and we had leftovers to eat the next night too. I highly recommend everything we ordered. The waiting staff was very nice. I'd recommend getting a reservation because the space is pretty small.

Wow, the food here is amazing! I'm sure even carnivores will love it here. We had the carbonara pasta (which I couldn't even tell was actually vegan if you didn't ask me) and one of the pizzas (not sure which one but it was great). I would recommend this place if you're vegan or vegetarian but also if you're on any other diet. Everything you'll eat here will be super tasty. The portions are really big too. Try to book in advance because the restaurant is popular and quite small.

Very excited to try this fully vegan restaurant that even the omnivores will like. Would recommend booking. Lots of menu choices, but we ended up going for a creamy cheesy gnocchi and a seitan steak, both full of flavour and large portions. Unsure why the pasta had to be served in a pan, but maybe that's just a personal preference for a plate or bowl. The homemade tiramisu for dessert was perfect. Sadly, we were let down by the creme brulé, which similarly to other reviewers, we found to be gloopy and watery. By that point though, we were too full to mind! All in all, a lovely venue and atmosphere, and the service was immepicable. Keen to go again.

Superb; vegan Italian food is hard to find and they do it so well. Proper, home baked bread, creamy, indulgent sauces, and fake meat options. Decor a bit naff but with food and service this good, who cares?

I got the Messicana pizza as a calzone. It was the best calzone I’ve ever had! Absolutely fantastic! The tiramisu was fine. I wouldn’t go out of my way for it though. I’d recommend making a reservation. It’s a small restaurant without a lot of seating.

  • 4/5 Becca G. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent range of vegan Italian food, including gluten free options! The food was delicious. Beautifully decorated interior. Small but cosy space. For the quality of food it was such a good price. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is unfortunately the service was not great. The waitresses were grumpy, not friendly and kept trying to move us on despite them saying we have the table for the whole evening and the restaurant being busy. I see however other reviews don’t all say this, so perhaps it was a bad evening (we’re all human!) but it did affect our experience.

  • 5/5 Sierra S. 10 months ago on Google
I was amazed by food! I eat gluten free and they have such great options. The portion sizes are large and we were quite full when we left. We definitely could have split a pizza. Really wish this was in my hometown so I could go more than just this once on my vacation.

Novapizza Vegan Kitchen, you are a dream come true! 🌟 Since embracing the vegan lifestyle, I've been on the hunt for that perfect spot, and my search happily came to an end in Edinburgh. This, my friends, was the birthday gift I didn't know I needed. Walking into Novapizza felt like stepping into an Italian paradise. The cozy size lends itself to the most intimate dinner experience, and the Italian-inspired decor added an authentic touch that truly warmed my heart. 🇮🇹❤️ Now, let's talk about the food – prepare for a taste sensation beyond words! 🍽️ Ordering the calzone was a genius move on my part – it was both scrumptiously large and incredibly delicious. I must confess, I may have over-indulged in the delectable bread they bring to the table, leaving me wonderfully satisfied but not quite hungry enough to conquer the whole calzone. Thankfully, leftovers meant I got to experience its magic all over again the next day, after a quick warm-up in the oven. Mind-blowing! My husband opted for the pizza and the lasagna, and it was a slice of heaven in every bite, just like my calzone. 🍕😋 For anyone on the lookout for exceptional vegan Italian fare, Novapizza is an absolute must-visit. The flavors, the ambiance, and the heartwarming experience make it a culinary gem that's not to be missed.

A quaint, homely, friendly yet professional Italian restaurant with a twist: everything is vegan! My partner and I are both vegan; it was weird and liberating to have a COMPLETE Italian menu to choose from (rather than scouring the menu for 2-3 “ve” items). The food is as high-quality as restaurant food comes, vegan or otherwise. Better than any other Italian restaurant I have been to!

  • 5/5 Maisie S. 8 months ago on Google
This is slightly on the pricier side but worth it if you want a treat (and multiple courses!). We had the carbonara and a calzone followed by tiramisu which was amazing. Would definitely come back if in Edinburgh again.

We ordered for delivery from here last night, and I am surprised at how many positive reviews they have! Perhaps the problems we experienced are less pronounced in restaurant. I don't like to negatively review vegan/vegetarian businesses- but the food really isn't worth it and I would not recommend ordering from here! My main issue was the food's cost. I know for vegan food you often need to pay a higher price than you would for regular food of the same quality, but the meal was just not very good. Everything we ordered was stone cold except for one dish which was piping hot, I normally don't fault delivery orders for being cold- but the one hot dish and quick delivery time tells me the cooking was just timed poorly. I ordered the vegan sausage ravioli I was very excited for, it was £15.90. There was only three pieces of ravioli. The ravioli pieces were big, but because they were bigger than normal ravioli the pasta was overcooked and doughy in some places/too thin in others. It was difficult to eat and the sausage to pasta ratio was weird. The sauce was very plain, just tasted of tomato and tomato paste. The sausage was okay; there was too much of it for ravioli so the strong flavour was overwhelming. The vegan cheese was cold but even then very good, some of the best parmesan i've had! We also ordered a vegan brushetta, it was £7. It was only one piece of toast, but it was a large piece of toast. However ,the bread was VERY stale and I didn't understand why, if their bread was stale and they still wanted to use it, they wouldn't just toast it so we didn't notice. There was one slice of chicken on it, mostly peppers (which were nice!), and some vegan mozzarella which I didn't enjoy (but probably would have on something hot). The vegetarian margarita pizza, £10, was under cooked and also lacked flavour. We ordered a vegan calzone for £13.50 and instead received a pizza. The delivery driver had two orders with him when he arrived and I noticed he had handed me an extra bag because it had a receipt stapled to it that wasn't ours, our order did not have a receipt stapled to it and instead had a handwritten piece of paper with our number on it. This makes me think they didn't include our receipt because they realised they had gotten our order wrong. The parmesan was nice on this too, but it was also undercooked. I understand vegan ingredients cost more, and the best parts of the meal were the fake chicken and cheese, but there were not enough speciality ingredients to justify the cost. Especially considering how cold, flavourless, and small the food was. With the extensive menu, if the food had tasted good I wouldn't have minded the price and probably would have ordered again. You can get quality, wood fired pizza for £7.90 and flavourful pasta dishes for £10 easily in Edinburgh, but from places that do not have vegan cheeses and "meat" toppings. The extras would be worth the higher cost if the food was higher quality!

  • 1/5 Mark B. 4 years ago on Google
Food is good, but the staffs general manner is attrocious and I have to concur with many of the other reviews (even the positive ones) - it is grossly overpriced. As the portions are large, two of our party wanted to share a pizza and were informed in the rudest terms that if an additional meal wasn't bought, we'd face a £5 service charge on top of our existing bill. In a City like Edinburgh, where quality Vegan food is hardly at a premium, perhaps the staff at Novopizza may want to consider how they treat their customers, if they wish to retain them.

I think that was the best pasta that I've ever had. The food was brilliant and so was the atmosphere of the place, it's a lovely little restaurant tucked away neatly on the street. Much smaller than I expected it to be and decorated lovely, but it's not in your face, nice and rustic.
