The Tom Mboya Monument is along Moi Avenue in Nairobi, Kenya. It was erected in 2011 in honour of Tom Mboya, a Kenyan government minister who was assassinated in 1969. The monument stands about twenty meters from where Mboya was murdered.[ The monument was designed by sculptor Oshottoe Ondula, costing the Kenyan government KSh.20,000,000/=. The statue was unveiled on October 19, 2011. However, by mid-2019, it, along with another (that of Dedan Kimathi), had fallen into disrepair, and Governor of Machakos Alfred Mutua pledged to clean and repair them.[2] The renovation was completed in April 2021.[3]

Epic representation of our Kenyan history....just beware pickpockets and con men. Beware of your surroundings as foot and vehicle traffic is heavy.

Monumental statue build in rememberance of the late Tom Mboyà the trade unionist who was executed in 1969 in a matter that was politically instigated.

This is a statue of Tom Mboya, or rather Thomas Joseph Odhiambo Mboya. The statue is located at this place - Moi Avenue - where he was gunned down by an assassin bullet on 5th July, 1969 as he came out of a chemist shop after buying drugs. Moi Avenue was then called Government Road at the time of assassination. Tom Mboya was a very influential politician, bright, and he is remembered for working with the then American president, John F Kennedy, to organise scholarships for Africans to American Universities. Barrack Obama was born out of this, as his dad was among the beneficiaries of this scholarship.

Great public recreation spot. Located smack dab in the middle of Nairobi CBD. It's a public thoroughfare with extremely high foot traffic. It's a great place to wait for someone you were to meet. A lovely place for photos with numerous photogs in the place. Almost one in two Bostonians pass by this spot daily.
