One of the best fort museums I have been to. It's 6 bucks to get a car into the park and another $2.50 per person for the fort. The museum is small but informative. What makes this fort so great is pretty much everything is open to the public. Some rooms were blocked off but you could climb the bastions or walk the walls. Barracks spaces and office spaces were open, too. The view is also spectacular. And once you are done, you are just minutes from a beach to hang out on.

This park and the Fort are very nice. This was my first time visiting Amelia island and Fernandina beach. It cost $6 to get in the park and another $3 to enter the fort. You do a self guided tour of the fort. There are cannons there on the top of the fort walls. The buildings have been restored so you can see how this fort was lived in and used to defend the island. If you are in the area visit this fort. I did not get to see the park, but it sure looked pretty.

Went camping here on thanksgiving weekend for 4 nights. Had a great time hiking, biking fishing, and looking for sharks teeth. The bike trails are very nice. Clean and clear. Everyone is nice and the park is kept clean. Could use more Geocaches.

I Absolutely Love This State Park! Well Maintained and Clean. The Staff are Amazing... Friendly and Happy to Talk about the History of the Fort. The Fort is a Must See and the Beach is So Beautiful. Can't wait to come back when i have more time and walk the long trail. Definitely a must see if you are in the area!

If you were a fan of history this is a must visit. Usually the line of cars waiting to get in are heading to the beach and not to the fort. So you can have a great day out with the family at an attraction like this without the crowds. And then when you’re done it’s a short walk over to the beach. Facilities are limited bring your own picnic lunch and water

My family came here around 4pm on a Saturday. We were staying at a hotel across the street and my son insisted on going. We had a great time! Spent our time driving towards the fort, but stopped at each little scenic area. Even got to see a baby alligator. The kids (4 and 2) loved it! By the time we got to the fort it was closed, so we walked the shore instead. Really great nature area. Highly recommend it.

We live full-time in our rv and have visited numerous state parks in the Midwest and all along the eastern coast. The employees at this park are, BY FAR, the nicest people we’ve met! From the girl in the visitors center to the rangers to the volunteers…everyone was so kind! It was so refreshing to be around that kind of positive energy! I cannot recommend this place enough! Our stay was fantastic!

Really nice state beach. Lots of cyclist on the road within the park. So be mindful of your speed and sharing the road. Saw brown/red blobs of water near the shore not sure if this normal or not. Cool fish and critters in the tide pools!

I love this park! So much to do! Nature trails, the fort, the beach etc The scenery is so beautiful and we even saw some deer the other evening while headed to the East access beach! Great for finding seashells! One of the best spots for shells I've found yet! Found 2 sand dollars and a bunch of conchs!!

We absolutely loved our experience here. We really enjoyed getting to explore the Fort inside and out. The Fort had some really neat brickwork and architecture. There were SO many great photo opportunities! We hunted for shark teeth on the beach by the fort but we didnt find any. We took the smaller nature trail (Willow Trail) and it was very nice and and easy walk. The Egan's look out was nice as well. It's a beautiful 3 mile drive from the gate to the fort. We highly recommend the Fort and park in general for an inexpensive nice day of exploring! It costs $6 to enter the park and $2.50 per person for the Fort. Well worth it!!!

Fort Clinch was a really great experience! My husband and I spent a drizzly Sunday morning walking through the fort - we didn't even mind getting wet to see it all. The fort is well preserved and maintained. There's a museum and gift shop on site, as well as tours available. The history of the fort is very interesting - it was fascinating to see a brick fort and learning how it was built and over many years. Rooms inside are set up as they were during the time periods it was inhabited. The road to the fort is well-maintained - beautiful, mossed draped oaks cover the roadways. There's biking and walking trails, as well as camp sites for tents, RVs, etc. Beach access and photo stops too. Several bathrooms available - including at the beach. It's a must-see stop!

I enjoyed seeing how the soldiers lived. The views from the Fort are great. You can wander around the ramparts in through the tunnels and different rooms. There is staff there dressed in period clothing to answer your questions.

Went to this park for the first time recently and it is a great park. There are some amazing beaches with nice easy access as well as the first itself. There are also many campsites for both campers and tents however I didn’t camp overnight so couldn’t speak to the overnight accommodations. As for the fort, it’s definitely worth checking out. I’ve been to several historic forts in Florida and this was definitely my favorite. It’s very in tact compared to what I expected after seeing others.

This state park is gorgeous. The beach is gorgeous, pristine, and has TONS of shells. The fort is amazing to explore and walk through, and their prices are extremely reasonable. We spent hours here and enjoyed all of it. The fort can take hours to explore, and we spent hours walking the beach and collecting shells. I would visit again in a heartbeat and hope to the next time we make a trip down this way. The restrooms were nice and clean, and the gift shop had great prices. I absolutely loved the fort and being able to walk around in it freely. There are some areas not allowed to be explored, but most of it is, and it's so worth the stop. We stopped as it was the first beach in Florida on our way down, and our daughter wanted to see the ocean for the first time. I'm so glad we made the choice to stop here.

Small fort but very nice and clean. Has lots of areas to walk around. They even have "real soldiers" you can ask questions to. Just make sure to wear protective shoes bc there are lots of steps/stairs and dirt. It isn't very wheelchair accessible. My dad has had a knee replaced and a lot of it was challenging for him.

Fort clinch is a site to see! I visit every year and will continue to. Not only is the fort full of history but the views are absolutely gorgeous! Whole family activity for the whole day and it wont break the bank. Bring a packed lunch and lots of water and spend the day exploring 😊

I visited this nature space while at the Fernandina Beach. I love to go to places like this because of the connection I feel with the earth and universe. it's my happy place. There is a fee to enter this park but it's very minimal. There are park rangers at the entrance to assist you and give you information about the park. It's full of trails you can venture into to see what things you can see or find such as turtles, birds, etc. You can take a nice long hike or bike and even go camping. You are able to drive thru this park to see where all the roads will take you. They even have random benches placed thru the park just in case you need a rest break.

My family absolutely loves Fort Clinch. I wouldn’t recommend going in the summer because it’s insanely hot but if you can go in the fall it’s an amazing day trip! You can walk around the beach, there’s a small kids park and there are so many different nooks and crannies to discover in the fort. And if you’re there on a reenactment day it’s so exciting. We also started the junior ranger program for our kids on this trip and they were able to obtain Fort Clinch patches.

Extremely gorgeous! Very cool to walk around the old fort— the brickwork is incredible— and the beach is beautiful. Looking forward to returning to walk their trails.

One awesome experience. Probably my favorite of the 3 forts we have here in NE Florida. It's not only larger then both Castillo in St Augustine and Matanzas, but also located at a beach which you have access to. The barracks are in great conditions and the staff are dressed for the period, and are very knowledgeable. Great views from the Fort and cannons. You can see the FL/GA line too as GA is on the other side of the water. Its really affordable too, at around 2.50 entry per person plus the park charges $5 per vehicle to enter the park. Check the hours as the park stays open later than Fort.

Really great park. Lots of walking trails, beach access, and history (fort was really cool). There was also a lot of wildlife around and it is evident that a lot of work goes into keeping the park clean. There is a fee for vehicles ($6 at time of review) as with other FL state parks that can be paid online or in person. Worth making the stop when visiting Amelia island.

Have been here several times with the family. Always a good time. Went to the beach this time and skipped the fort. They have a nice playground close to the parking.

The roads are a bit narrow. Be cautious or you may hit a tree when navigating with a large camper. The river side is prettier than the beach side. Fishing boats troll the waters. A lot of thistles, they will get in your dog's paws...not dog friendly. Pretty sunsets. Sharktooth finds

This is real nice to visit if you have any interest in history or enjoy walking on the beach. I enjoyed exploring the different parts of the fort. Tunnels and towers. The beach was also beautiful. Lots of small shells.

We had a great time! There is a lot to look at and it is a very large fort. It is self guided but plenty to see. There is a small gift shop at the beginning/end of the tour. You can buy drinks and snacks. There is also a place to sit and eat inside the visitors center. Admission is only $2.50 per person and free for 4 and under.

I am a giant history buff and I usually love places like this but it's a big NO for me. DEFINITELY HAUNTED. 💯 my husband and I were so uncomfortable by the paranormal feelings we were experiencing we had to leave. As we were leaving I did some research and apparently it's one of the most well known haunted places in the area (not advertised that way!!) We had our boys with us ages 2 and 6 and it was absolutely NOT SAFE for them.

Great state park to go camp at. Though if you go during the summer, I recommend camping in the River loop because there is hardly any shade on the beach loop, though being a telescope if you are by the beach, some good night star viewing. The fort itself is also very worth the visit to learn about weapons and history of fort life, they also do a number of reenactments every month so check the calender, they'll demonstrate firing of the weapons including a cannon. Also take some time to bike or walk the nature trails and beaches, as they provide a chance for some solitude and reflection

This is one of the best preserved old fort I have ever seen, high wall, tunnel, cannon, prison, kitchen. An old American flags with 35 stars reminds me of star spangled banners and the land of the brave. Driving to fort through old trees are quite enchanting. A must see!

This park is gorgeous! From towering dunes to ancient oak trees to a historical fort, it is an incredibly diverse location with rich natural resources and broad appeal. As a birder, I was excited to have a variety of preserved habitats. The marshy overlook had great shorebirds and the extensive hardwood canopy was a sure bet for warblers and other passerines. The shoreline was great for seabirds, shorebirds and sharks’ teeth. There is a narrow multi-use path for bicyclists and pedestrians that runs through the park. During our visit, we only used small stretches of the path to access some of the views, but it looked amazing. The only negative is that this place gets packed, and during peak times, closes to new visitors to limit capacity. There seems to be a lot of zippy traffic on the road and I could never figure out why people are in such a hurry when there is so much beauty even on the main road. If you’re in the area and are a nature lover, this should definitely be on your list!

This state park is a wonderful and vast state park that everyone should be sure to visit. It is a long beautiful drive in with smaller access roads breaking from man road leading to campsites and trail heads. At the end of the road there is Fort Clinch. The fort is well maintained with nice bathrooms in the front, a small gift shop where souvenirs or camping needs can be purchased. The fort is an additional charge to visit.

We visited Fort Clinch on vacation, it was seriously beautiful. The three mile drive in was full of beautiful photo opportunities, unfortunately the day that we visited it was mostly raining so we didn't get much time to stop and look around. The museum on site is well worth the $2.50 admission price, the gift shop has a ton of snacks and drinks, and of course gifts and t-shirts. The fort itself is really pretty, you basically have free reign to go wherever you want and do all kinds of exploring. Check the website before going because they sometimes have reenactments and other things going on, we happen to be visiting on a Monday and there wasn't anything special going on but we did get to talk to some restoration volunteers and that was pretty cool too. On site there are campgrounds, beaches, fishing, bird watching, and hiking and biking trails.

Quite beach access on the south end of the park. Not a lot of people, plenty of space to spend a peaceful day at the water. Lot of shells mixed with the sand so you might want to have footwear, but great for shark tooth hunting. Also there is not any restrooms close by.

  • 4/5 Billy H. 10 months ago on Google
Great gift shop, friendly staff, alot of camping choices available, beach access, bicycle accessible with trails, fishing at the Rock point & of course the tour of the Fort which is available for separate fee to enter for after obtaining entrance to beach park as per person rate of $2. Didn't ask about camping fees or reservations, but I'm sure it would be well worth it for a family getaway! Biking is the way to go on the Island for sure once there!

  • 5/5 P O. 1 year ago on Google
Very nice historical park. Plenty to see! Easily accessible from the Main Road, a $6.00 auto entrance fee and $2.50 per person Fort Fee. There is plenty of free parking including for Handicap accessible Vehicles though out the park. The Fort itself is filled with history and Rangers are available to answer questions. My only suggestion would be to. Install some information plaques outside. They do provide you with a free map with locations but information on it is limited. IE, the American flag. There is a nice gift shop and some refreshments and restrooms are available. In the area and interested in History, stop by I don't believe you will be disappointed.

Enjoyed seeing the fort. There wasn't anything special going on when we were there but we always enjoy historical places. This was very interesting and you can easily walk around the entire fort and buildings. Lots of history and you can see a lot up close.

Brought my husband here for his birthday, we had a GREAT time exploring the grounds, entering all crevasses of the fort which is nice considering St. Augustine doesn't let you enter half the areas this fort does. We found sharkteeth behind the fort along the beaches. All around great time, will be back and definitely worth the visit! Highly recommend!

  • 5/5 Joana R. 1 year ago on Google
What a nice park! The Fort was cool to visit, the boys loved going back in time to 1865. My hubby and my oldest checked out the bike trails and little man and I went to the beach. Lots to explore there. Bring water and food. Limited snacks at the Fort's gift shop.

  • 5/5 Patrick F. 2 years ago on Google
Worth the price of admission for sure. Entrance to the state park also gets you a beautiful beach spot. Highly recommend.

  • 5/5 Danielle f. 2 years ago on Google
If you want an amazing place to camp either primitively in an rv or cabin this is your place. Go to sleep listening yo waves crashing on the shore arise ready to take a stroll bike ride or hike to the actual fort where you learn many things as you walk through the museum. And out to the fort where on the first Saturday of the month there are period dressed actors that can give you inside information about the happenings that would have been going on during those days. Certainly fascinating 👍 just remember it is florida so depending on when you go plan on heat being a factor. The good thing is new shower houses that are fabulous and clean and tour right bear tge ocean where you can find parking all day everyday and you don't have to worry bout your car getting towed. Overall great sites wonderful fire pits nice place to stay ocean side or river side.
