Great temple that gets overshadowed by it’s more famous neighborhoods. I had a great meditation on the ground floor. Very quiet and not busy when I visited. They allowed full access to the temple. I climbed to the 4th floor the energy on the floor made the hair on my arms stand up it was amazing. The view from the top is great as well. This was one of my favorite temples in Bangkok

Very unique and stunning temple. Easy to access close to the Main Street surrounded with many museums. Inside the temple was very clean and peaceful for the meditation. On the top, the visitors can see the view in 360 degree

I didn't visit the place from inside as well as day time. But its a great beauty at night. Its just like some pieces of diamond hanging from the sky at night.Let me give a little description about this place. The place has a lot of historical value and educational value.its a compose of five towers contains iron spires. Among these there are 37 golden spires which represents the 37 virtues of Buddhism. It was build for a royal granddaughter named Somanass Waddhanawathy in 1846.It can be shortlisted as must visit place of Bangkok.

Totally Fabulous. The highlight is the wonderful "Loha Prasat", this structure just blew me away. It is now the only remaining building in the World of this design with the Original one in India and the second in Sri Lanka destroyed. It's construction dates back to King Rama III, 1846. I love it's symmetry and the internal design of crisscross corridors and open passage ways between each tier. Do be sure to take the central spiral teak stairs all the way to the top where you get great views of the whole Temple site and modern Bangkok skyline. The rest of the Temple buildings are good, but the Loha Prasat is truly exceptional and a joy to visit. I had the place almost to myself when I visited.

Good spot to sit back and start meditation. A place provides not only a splendid architecture but also a good spot for meditation by sitting or walking in different zone or even a museum space. Each floor has a different activities. The shade and shadow with gold reflection is mesmerizing. On the top floor is represented the enlightment with an open view of stretching old town.

(Translated by Google) Once in a lifetime you should take your family to visit the former capital city with a history of more than 538 years or more. There is an ancient archaeological site to walk to commemorate the grand construction of Lang City. They are very well organized. The entrance fee to the ancient site is 10 baht per person. Foreigners 50 baht is like helping maintenance fees and staff who help to look after the park. We should also respect this place as a preservation of what remains for our children and grandchildren to see for a long time. When you visit, you should come in the morning or afternoon so that the weather is not very hot. This is the culture of Thailand, the Kingdom. Enjoy the visit, be respectful, and have a great time at the beautiful historical park. I would recommend a full day in the region, enjoy some food on the river when you are done visiting Ayutthaya. Plenty of tasty drinks outside the park, would also recommend grabbing one.

We went at 1pm on a Thursday and it was empty only two other people in the whole temple. That made it even more enjoyable. You can get some good views from the top. You do not need a ticket, there was a donation box at the entrance to the main temple of 20 bhat for foreigners completely worth it. Lots of signs in English so you able to read and understand.

Stumbling upon this temple, you might not expect a revelation—yet that's exactly what you get. The kind of beauty that stops you in your tracks, makes you seek refuge under the nearest patch of shade just to stand there and gawk. It's a bit of a sunburn moment, the kind where the world fades and you forget that the tropical sun is turning your skin a shade redder. There's a tranquility to it, a sort of sacred geometry that's hard to articulate. It's not just a feast for the eyes; it's a pause for the soul. And if you've got a hunger for history, the ground floor's got a small exhibit that ties it all together—makes you understand that you're not just looking at bricks and mortar; you're looking at cultures, beliefs, lives lived and lost. In short, this temple isn't just a sight to see; it's a chapter in a book that's been written over millennia. A chapter you'd be a fool to skip.

The Loha Prasat is a magnificent example of Sri Lankan influences on Thai Theravada Buddhism. Commissioned by King Rama III in 1846, the Loha Prasat is modeled after two earlier temples, one in India and the other in Sri Lanka. Of the three, the Loha Prasat is the only remaining, and is extremely well preserved. The 37 spires are perfectly placed on what is also known as "The Metal Castle" to represent the 37 steps required to attain enlightenment. I'd highly recommend this temple; it is magnificent and shimmers in the light but also affords a lovely 360-degree panoramic view from the top of the 36- meter high lookout point.

History and heritage is always on my list whenever I travel to any new place. I had already decided to visit Ayutthaya when my travel plan to Thailand was finalised. Ayutthaya ( Ayodhya ) is a city in Thailand, about 80 kilometers north of Bangkok. It was the second capital of the Kingdom of Siam, and a prosperous international trading port, from 1350 until razed by the Burmese in 1767. The ruins of the old city now form the Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO world heritage archaeological site that contains palaces, Buddhist temples, monasteries and statues. The park is on an island between 3 rivers. The name of the city indicates the influence of Hinduism in the region.

(Translated by Google) A huge cultural park covering the entire historic part of the city. A paradise for lovers of wandering through ruins that contain a piece of Thai history. After reaching the train station, Tuk-Tuk drivers will be waiting for you. It is worth negotiating with them hard, because you can boldly lower the price by 30-40%. Ideally, you should spend 4 hours visiting all the ruins. If you have more time or less money then a bicycle alternative can be selected. It is also worth buying a collective ticket for the temples. It is more profitable than buying individual tickets. (Original) Ogromy park kulturowy, obejmujący całą historyczną część miasta. Warto z nimi twardo negocjować, bo śmiało można zbić cenę tak o 30-40%. Optymalnie trzeba poświęcić 4h na zwiedzanie wszystkich ruin. Jeśli masz więcej czasu lub mniej pieniędzy, wtedy można wybrać alternatywę w postaci roweru. Warto tez kupić bilet zbiorowy na świątynie. Bumped into this places when I was on my way to golden mount temple. When I dropped by the stop at Phafa Pier then I saw this building just on my left side. Decided to take a look. It is one of the best decision I have made during the trip. The architecture is very special. Get to see the architecture inside and they have the exhibition telling how the loha Prasat. They are showing the relics of the Buddha at the top floor of the Loha Prasat. Open for public until 5PM. It's an unexpected experience, but definitely a good one.

Truly one of the most beautiful and authentic wat’s to visit when in Bangkok. Very unique with its pillars inside, making it nearly a maze. Also some very interesting information on life and buddhism everywhere on the walls. Go up to the 5th floor for a wonderful view over the old city and refreshing windy breeze to recover from the sweaty hot Thai sun.

Wat Ratchanatdaram Wirawahan, known as Loha Prasat, too, is locating near Wat Saket or the Golden Mount, and is at least as impressive as Wat Saket. Where Wat Saket is rather an attraction, there Wat Ratchanatdaram Wiharahan is a real traditional Buddhist temple area. Loha Prasat is a hugely beautiful building there in the area of the Wat. If you happen to visit Wat Saket, visit to admire Loha Prasat and the whole Wat, too, together they give you are a good picture of the Buddhist architecture and art.

Wat Ratchanaddaram (วัดราชนัดดาราม / Wat Ratchanatdaram) is a buddhist temple (wat) located at the intersection between Ratchadamnoen Klang and Maha Chai Road, in Phra Nakhon district, Bangkok. Meaning Royal Niece, the temple was built to the order of King Nangklao (Rama III) for Mom Chao Ying Sommanus Wattanavadi (หม่อมเจ้าหญิงโสมนัสวัฒนาวดี) in 1846. The temple is best known for the Loha Prasat (โลหะปราสาท), a multi-tiered structure 36 m high and having 37 metal spires, signifying the 37 virtues toward enlightenment. It is the third Loha Prasada (brazen palace) in existence, modelled after the earlier ones in India and Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. In the past, Loha Prasat was hidden behind an old movie theatre named Chalerm Thai. The theatre were demolished in 1989 as a project to improve scenery along Ratchadamnoen Road. In 2005, the temple was submitted to UNESCO for consideration as a future World Heritage Site.

The temple has unique feature; it’s made of steels!! People in Thailand calls this temple ‘Metal castle’. The corridor is quite small upstairs so I would prefer to visit this place when there’s less tourists (during pandemic for example)

Excellent temple. Very informative with many interpretive signs in both English and Thai. Could easily spend a few hours exploring. The top floors have excellent 360 views of old bangkok. Very close to excellent dining options and other attractions.

Not what I had anticipated.. beautiful.. serene.. historic and some very interesting perspectives and views. Six floors to explore.. with several views that took my breath away.. For the spiritual visitor.. this shrine offers a prayer station on the very top of the Chedi at the reliquary mount. Loha Prasat feels new..despite the grounds being older and more time-worn. Worth a visit .. expect to spend about an hour .. A 20 Thai baht donation is requested at the entrance for maintenance and upkeep. Closest MRT is SAM YOT... about a 15 minute walk from that station to Loha Prasat.

I visited this place in 2015 and the temple was quite spectacular. I actually wanted to visit another temple but the tuk-tuk driver cheated me stating that this was the temple and I couldnt verify because everything over there was written in Thai language. This temple as such is beautiful. I happened to capture few photos before some of the pillars were painted in gold as you see them now.

One of the temples which I have seen both day and night. The size of it is just right not to be overwhelmed. Lovely architecture and design which can be seen from a nearby park situated in front of it. Some cats roam the area which are gentle guardians of the temple. Worth a visit. Just went here to enjoy the view of the temple both outside and inside.

There is a spiral staircase in the center, and you can climb up. Buddha statues are placed on each floor, and it is calculated that the view from the window changes as you move vertically, which makes you feel that it is a very intelligent structure. The stupa is housed in the central pagoda, and the 37 spire around it means thirty-seven training methods to reach enlightenment. Located next to Golden Mountain temple , so try to combine these two. This is a beautiful Buddhist temple. The architectural design is pretty. The architecture sets it aside with a great view from the top. Close to the Grand Palace and Khao San Road area. The design of Loha Prasat almost appears Burmese, but in fact this is a copy of old Buddhist design found in Sri Lanka. In the early nineteenth century, it was begun construct by King Rama III.

Admission tickets are 10 Baht for Thais and 50 Baht for foreigners (regardless whether you have a work permit and/or pink ID card - a pet peeve for many of us foreigners living). That’s fine if you just want to visit one place, but gets annoying if you want to visit more places. Actually, some sites do allow for nice views ‘from the outside’ so you don’t have to pay anything. You just can’t get up close and personal, but IMHO they look nicer from further away. I’ll take the free views, thank you.

One of the highlights of Thailand and can be done as a day trip from Bangkok. Highly recommend hiring one of the tuk tuk drivers when coming out of the station. Traffic in the area to get to the temples is no joke-one of our travel companions ending up getting in an accident on one of those motorbikes, so I would highly recommend just getting a tuk tuk. It's way less work and less effort to think about. The prices aren't too crazy. We paid about $15 USD per person for a half day tour. Note: Visited prior to COVID, so things may be different now.

You can book a days tour to this place. The name is derived from the Indian city Ayodhya which was the capital of Lord Ram...from the epic Ramayana. The Thai royal dynasty derives their names from the same epic. A day is a bit small if you like exploring things at your own pace as the expanse is quite big of this ancient thai capital.

Back in 2020, the temple had the most beautiful garden out front. A couple days ago I was disappointed to find it being replanted. But hopefully soon it’ll have the vibrant colors once again. Inside, the temple is absolutely stunning. Truly a must see in Bkk.

This was a real highlight for us. At 9.30am the temple was virtually deserted, which made for a relaxing and quiet visit. We loved the main structure, which had a spiral hardwood staircase at its centre. At each level, portal corridors carried your eyes outwards towards a Buddha or golden mound. It was a really beautiful piece of architecture. I can see how it has been designed to facilitate meditation.

Loha Prasat, which means 'metal castle' in Thai, is a unique and impressive Buddhist temple located in Bangkok. The temple is multi-tiered and is located on the grounds of Wat Ratchanatdaram, a royal temple in the historic district of Bangkok. The temple was built in 1846 and has some unique features. There are 37 spires on its roof, each representing one of the 37 virtues of enlightenment in Buddhism. The tallest spire is about 36m tall. The interior of Loha Prasat is a labyrinthine maze of stairs and passages and visitors can climb all the way to the top to enjoy the view of the city. The temple was submitted to be a UNESCO world heritage site, although it's still pending. It's considered one of Thailand's most unique and important Buddhist temples If you're interested in architecture, Buddhism, or just want to see something truly unique in Bangkok, Loha Prasat is definitely worth a visit!

It's an amazing place and definitely worth a visit, even though you might have visited the Grand Palace. The architectural beauty is magnificent, history is intriguing and it has been renovated over a decade ago. It's located at a walking distance from Grand Palace, Khao San road and Supreme Court of Thailand. It's absolutely hard to ignore this as you pass through the road. Especially in the night, the splendor of the place in the yellow lights is awe inspiring and a visual treat. There is no entry fee. You can climb up 7 stories and get a great 360 degree view of the city. Overall, 1 hour of time should be enough to explore this completely. It was extremely quiet and I could spend some time meditating there in the front of the large buddha statue. You are expected to remove your footwear before entering the main temple.

The Wat Ratchanatdaram is a Royal temple best known for the Loha Prasat or Metal Castle, a very unique structure. Loha Prasat Temple is a 36 metre high construction featuring 37 spires made of metal which symbolize the 37 virtues leading to enlightenment. At its highest level of this site is a relic of the Buddha. Loha Prasat is the only temple of multi-floored and square-based construction that is in existence today. Loha Prasat is a term from Indian origin referring to a square based structure with multiple storeys which was used as a monk’s quarters; only three such structures are known to have been built and the only one standing to date is the one in Bangkok

Beautiful inspiration of our beloved country temple. It’s like a heaven built.. felt uplift spiritual zone. Built for 100 years ago. Well maintained and refurbished to keep it up for Buddhist and non Buddhist’s visit. Parking or accessibility near by. Welcome of donation to keep up the building and support the temple.

It's nice to climb this maze of a temple. There are plenty of stairs and plenty of walls and corridors to explore. The view from the top is amazing. Also, this kind of architecture is one of a kind. So its worth visiting.

Very well maintained, detailed descriptions of the history displayed and peaceful place to admire the presence and teachings of Buddha. The fact that it’s the only one of a kind Loha Prasat in the whole world makes it really special. Loved spending time here. Takes roughly 45 mins to an hour to appreciate the whole place. The views from the top are truly panaromic.

Another beautiful temple in Bangkok. While we were there, they had a nighttime celebration where we were able to enter the temples in the evening—which was so special.

Very pretty “Wat”. Entrance fee is zero, but appreciated to donate 20baht. Walk up the stairs to have a beautiful view over Bangkok. Really recommend this one. Also as it is less crowded compared to other ones.
