One of the best museums I have visited. It was short and sweet but still information-packed and very interesting. From the other reviews we thought that it was mainly a museum about the red light bars in Patpong, but it is much more than that. It covers the broad history and the development of the Patpong district. The guided tour with Randy was funny, interesting and interactive. We ended the tour in the secret bar inside the museum (with an Austrian bartender - very nice guy). Totally worth a visit!

It costs 350 Baht which also includes a 50 Baht drink voucher. Expect beer to cost around 100 Baht. The museum normally includes a guided tour where some areas are of high interest and others are a bit dull depending on the person. A good amount of the museum includes the speedier side of Patpong which will interest some people. This part of the museum was not my cup of tea but was not garish. It's also possible to walk through and revisit any rooms after you have had the tour.

Across the Convent Road is Bangkok's most notorious night spot with bars and pubs lining both sides of Phat Phong Road. The 300-meter long streets of Patpong I and Patpong II are packed with over 300 businesses: supermarkets, drugstores, airlines, restaurants, hotels, police box and even church. These neon lined streets hold dark dirty secrets of sex, drugs, rock'n'roll as well as the secret war in Southeast Asia. Patpong Museum is coveniently located on one of those streets in the heart of Bangkok, home to history of Chinese immigrants, the modernization of Thailand, the CIA and superstars like David Bowie. It's a brand new exhibition covering 100 years of history full of interesting and fun facts.

What a fun, interesting, and informative museum. We had an amazing time here learning about the history of Patpong. We were given a tour and it lasted about 45 minutes. All the workers are super friendly. There is a bar inside the museum for those who want a drink.

With so much history disappearing in Bangkok, it is nice to see a place that is trying to preserve a vibrant past in a local area. I enjoyed the bar at the end of the tour meeting up with other travelers and we went well beyond the free beer that was provided in the ticket price. Staff was kind and made no effort to rush us out beyond normal hours. Definitely adds to a night out in one of Bangkok's vibrant night zones.

A really interesting museum. Our guide was excellent and clearly passionate about Patpong and its history. We spent over two hours been shown around including having a drink in their 1970s bar.

I am so glad that I visited this museum. First of all the owner and staffs are really friendly and secondly we got a free guide who showed us around and shared his knowledge about the thai red light district. It’s so much more than the stereotype’s people usually have before visiting this red light area. The history about the Patpong street is very interesting and informative. It completely changed my views about this street. Definitely worth a visit.

This museum was a highlight of my recent trip to Bangkok. My boyfriend and I arrived at 8:20pm as we were stuck in a very bad traffic jam. Even though the museum closes at 9pm, the tour guide did not turn us down and gave us a very informative and educational tour that went past their closing time. The tour guide also had a great sense of humour that made the tour a lot more fun and enjoyable! Unfortunately, I did not get his name so I can properly credit him. But, if you want to include something a little different in your Bangkok itinerary, I would highly recommend the Patpong Museum.

350 per person( free 50 baht coupon can buy the drinks inside the museum). The tour is about 1 hour and after the tour you can look around by yourself. The tour only in English or Thai. The museum is not just about the night life of Patpong. It’s also the history and the story in the area. Very interesting.

An incredible museum!!! The tour guides are an absolute wealth of information about the days gone by and up to the present day. There are lots of displays and information which is all explained to you along the guided tour. If history interests you. This is a must tour and museum to visit in Bangkok. Only a 5-10 minute walk from the metro station

Wow, this museum packs a punch. I expected a quirky little museum about a local area, but it turned out to be an incredibly rich and information packed whirlwind tour of world history. Our guide was fantastic and knew so much about Patpong and its role in history. The museum is wonderfully well curated and the bar is a great place for a little break. I randomly found this museum by chance (my parents are immigrants from Hainan to Europe, so I always get curious about Hainan -related stories!) and it turned out to be one of the absolute best museum experiences I've had.

It was such an incredible museum experience! One of my top favorite museums of all time and it couldn't have been without Randy giving us the tour! Randy is one of the museum's tour guide and he had so much knowledge to share with us! His humor and knowledge of Thailand/Patpong made the tour one of a kind!! I highly highly recommend coming into the museum and asking for a tour. Getting there: when you're going down the alley to Patpong, you'll see a neon sign on top pointing to the right, THAT'S NOT IT! Trust Google maps and keep going down the alleyway until you see the Patpong sign pointing to the LEFT. Go up the stairs and you're there! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)

I never know that Patpong has such a cool museum until my friend, Ashton, invited me. The coolest in Bangkok I have been to so far. It educated me in different way from other museums. The entrance fee is affordable and reasonable, 350 baht for the entrance and 2 cocktails or if you're still underage they have mocktails too😉 I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

I wasn't feeling up for going out today, but Ashton convinced me to check it out. I was not disappointed. I never knew Patpong had so much heritage and history. What I liked best about the museum is the way it portrayed Patpong in a very educational manner without taking taking away from the place's true essence. 10/10 would recommend to any Thai national and foreigner in the area.

The museum is very small and would make a fairly short and expensive visit if you walked through it by yourself. But he ticket includes a guided tour if you show up when there is a guide available, or is willing to wait a bit for the next tour. With a guide, this turns into a very very interesting, fun, and worthwhile visit, worth every penny. Our guide was an Italian guy, but from overhearing other guides, ALL the guides are good and add a lot of color to the visit that you would not have caught if you walked through by yourself. It comes with a drink, and the place is small and cozy enough where you can have intimate discussions afterwards about the history while having your drink before returning to the BKK heat outside.

Visiting the museum was a fun and eye-opening experience. We were guided by the owner of the museum and Black Pagoda himself. There are so many cultural and historical layers to this seemingly shallow and touristic neighborhood, that when put into timeline and perspective, feels like having a life of its own. The museum covers from the time of the Patpongpanich family all the way to the Covid era. There are interactive games, videos, miniatures, and collectibles cultivated by the passionate people of the museum.

As a Thai person, the visit to Patpong museum is truly an eye opening experience. Despite its worldwide fame as Bangkok’s top red light and nightlife district, little is known about its history and how it has evolved with time to become the famous Patpong as it is known today. Apart from its sleazy side, there are many slices of Thai and world history that directly relate and link to Patpong which are very interesting and not widely known even among the locals. All in all, this is highly recommended for both locals and overseas tourists to Bangkok. Note that some museum sections are open for those who are 18 years old or older and the museum content is now totally in English. However, I was informed that the information in Thai will be added soon. This should make it more appealing and accessible for the local visitors.

Definitely recommend for any history buffs out there specifically those familiar or interested in Thai American history, starting from the mid-twentieth century during tge emergence of the OSS/CIA and Foundation of international business affairs in the silom area, long before this place was a red light district. the guides (we had an Italian guy)are knowledgeable and very helpful and answering and addressing specific questions. The fee is reasonable, considering you also get a drink in there patpong simulation bar.

We thought we’d check this museum out as we find the sex industry here so fascinating, especially as it makes up for such a large number of the GDP yet remains illegal. What a fabulous place! Lots to look at and discover. We had a brilliant tour by the owner who has lived through some crazy times. The story of the Secret War was amazing, we had no idea. You must visit!

We had an awesome experience at the Patpong Museum today. Our guide Randall was extremely knowledgeable about the Patpong area, but also all the interesting stories connected to it: the CIA, the Serpent, David Bowie, the rise of the red light district, the bars, everything. The displays in the museum are also very well done. We really enjoyed our afternoon here and felt like we received so much more value than we anticipated beforehand. Would definitely recommend this!

An unexpected and exotic museum that I've ever seen. My friends have been to Thailand many times, but this museum offers us something different. The most insightful and honest story about Bangkok nightlife. It feels like we went underneath the cover.

We had the chance to have a private tour by the owner of the museum who put a lot of efforts in telling the unknown story of this amazing neighborhood. Definitely worth the visit. Fun, interactive and very didactic.

Such a cool museum! Nestled in an inconspicuous building on the red light street of Patpong. Above strip-clubs and below a bar, is a private museum that entertains visitors with history, art, and culture. Definitely a necessary stop to get the full "Bangkok Experience" Some fun interactive exhibits as well. But for adults only! (18+)

Firstly of all, will recommend to whoever interested in knowing Thailand history and culture. Many thanks to the guide Randy and Apple, Randy has taught me a lot and he is quite knowledgeable and doesn’t fluffy on things, he checked the source and he wrote books! And appreciate the way the Muesum is structured, with a span of time more than a century; covering on every milestone events within and beyond Patpong to make this area connected with the world history.

Really enjoyed our experience in this museum. It’s not what you expect, in the ‘red light district’ of Bangkok you expect something like a sex museum in Amsterdam. But this museum has a lot of interesting insights into the history of Bangkok development, CIA stories , secret wars, as well as the fun part of how the concept of Bar girls was brought into Bangkok and all the experiences you can get in Patpong. Definitely advise to visit it . And thank you to Andrea who gave us an amazing tour

What a fascinating place and people. Incredible museum. Suck our tour guide lived through it all and had the stories to tell. Definitely, a great way to kill a few hours in Bangers! 5 stars for sure.

Small museum about the patpong entertainment area. Nice to visit. Included in the price is also a tour guide or someone who explains things. You learn a thing or two about the 1940's to 1980's. Must have been special times. Don't let the shady entrance stop you from visiting. I think 350 baht is a little much but ok. They did some effort and it all looks nice. Friendly staff also. The infamous panty vending machine from the neighbors isn't in the museum (yet) haha.

350 baht well spent! Entrance included a 45-min guided tour. Informative! Learned a lot about the history of patpong and Bangkok after living more than 2 years in sathorn. Mind you, the museum is not only about patpong, and patpong is not all about gogo bars!

Had amazing time - I learned a lot about the history of Patpong but also about the relationships between Thailand and the West, and the guide was a delight to listen to. Tons of anecdotes, interesting facts, lots of items to look at, a short movie too.. a well rounded, very complete tour, and I will recommend it to everyone I know who’s visiting Bangkok.
