If you scuba dive or are interested in scuba diving this is the place to go. I took a refresher course here and left feeling 100% confident in my skills. The owner, Larry, is a great instructor and very knowledgeable. He is patient and through. The location has everything you need for beginners to seasoned divers. When you go, drive around to the rear of the shopping center. The entrance is on the back side of all the other stores.

I️ just finished my open water scuba certification (for the second time I️ was certified about 20 years ago and needed a refresher). Everyone involved was amazing!! Tim Coates was our instructor and he was knowledgeable and helpful. I️ would do any dive with him and feel safe knowing that he was with us. Jay joined for the boat dive portion and what a team they make!! Anyone enrolling and getting either of these instructors would be very lucky!! Ashley was there to assist and was great with the people a little less experienced and a little less comfortable in the water. And Laz - he was so patient with us as we went through the process of figuring out what classes and what equipment we wanted to buy on top of the certification process. This group is top notch. I️ recommend them to anyone who is new and unsure or the previous diver looking to get back into SCUBA. Our beach dives at Broad beach were good followed by even better - pretty amazing- dives off Anacapa and Santa Cruz. I️ don’t only recommend them for certification but look into their classes for wreck dives, deep water certification, Nitrox, and many other classes and certifications they offer.

The Open Diver Class was amazing! Great instructors and so much useful info. Laz is so knowledgable about all the gear and really cares about how your gear fits. Instructors are all great and really enjoy what they do. Highly recommend CI Scuba!

My husband and I just finished the Scuba Refresher Course with Mike and Lazarus at Channel Islands Scuba in Thousand Oaks. We were amazed at all the new and changed information and skills since we were first certified in the early 2000’s. They were very thorough in the perfecting of our skills, which was extremely helpful as we had not dove for 6 years. We now feel so much more comfortable to enter the water and dive again! They were friendly and professional and their pool and shop were very clean. They made the online forms and the rental of equipment east and convenient! We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone! Happy diving!

We registered all 3 of our sons for Open Water certification and Channel Islands SCUBA created a custom family class when I decided to join them for a re-fresher. I am now finally able to share these experiences with the boys! The instruction was terrific, with wonderfully personable and knowledgable people at the shop. Whether for instruction or purchasing equipment, we highly recommend this team to all of our interested friends. Enjoy !

I could not recommend Channel Islands Scuba more! We had such a great experience and Mike and the rest of the team were so helpful and knowledgeable. They really made sure we understood all of the concepts you need to know to be successful at diving, and always made sure our safety was a top priority. It was clear they really know what they’re talking about when it comes to scuba. Overall we had such a great time; if you are thinking about getting certified, this is 10000% the place you should go!!!

My experience at Channel Islands scuba far surpassed any expectations I had. Initially I chose CIS because of the on-site pool for training and proximity to my home. It was just a great coincidence that they also have a staff of world class instructors and an on-site service center. All the staff from the owner Mike, my instructor Matt, Lazarus the manager and, Courtney the shops dive master are seriously passionate about diving, training new divers and creating what I’d consider to be one of the best experiences I’ve had anywhere. After training with CIS there’s no shop I’d rather train or dive with.

Great learning environment with instructors that are highly knowledgeable and experienced with training new divers. Safety was the #1 priority throughout the program and at each stage there was ample time to become comfortable with a particular skill or environment before taking the next step. Their dive shop is also worth mentioning. I highly advise buying some of your own gear if going through the program. I personally had trouble donning and doffing the rental fins due to the strap type and ended up getting fins that were elastically fastened to my feet. It made a world of difference when we went out on the boat dives.

Highly recommend this shop for dive certification, especially if you want to feel confident in the water. Mike and his team are incredibly knowledgeable and patient when it comes to instruction and they emphasize that they care more about creating confident, capable divers over merely certified ones. They even do an extra week of class and pool sessions over other programs to make sure you’re comfortable before hitting the ocean. They do however require you to own most of your own equipment instead of renting all of it to you, so prepare for about $700 on top of the class cost (They provide regulators, BCD, wetsuit, and tanks.) But if you plan on diving in California it’s well worth the investment to have your own equipment sized specifically for you. Plus, completing your cert diving the Channel Islands on a great dive boat is a big perk too.
