New Croton Dam and Park is an absolutely beautiful area to visit. You can obtain a beautiful view from the lower area, where the large parking area and green space is located and have a nice view of the bridge and cascading flow of the water off the dam. Many people may not know that you can also drive up to the top, where the bridge is. This of course isn’t accessible by car and you have to walk onto the bridge, but you’re greeted with a further extension of the dam, that has a very unique shape in how it was constructed. I’m not sure which view was my favorite, but the lower part is certainly the one most people tend to view and share online. Regardless you’ll enjoy the view, while having a day just to enjoy the park area. It’s also a great one hour destination for those wanting to get away from the city for a while and see some nice landscape/nature sights.

I went there a couple years ago and its pretty neat. You could feel the water hit you whilst standing near the falls but that part was really muddy so be careful! Also if you head a little farther from the dam you could go to the bridge. There really isn't parking but you could park anywhere and when i went there the bridge was closed to cars. There is an amazing view of the dam and the falls, including the huge park below. Its a great place for picnics or any type of gathering of the sort. I forgot to mention. There is a small hill you can go down and be careful while going down because it is rocky and steep. When you are at the bottom you can enjoy the steady stream of water and take pictures. The hill has a path that leads you down but if you want specifics, its really next to the bridge you cross to get to the park section. The right of the bridge to be exact and if I remember, there should be some sort of sign.

From the dam, this is such a beautiful sight to behold. I could only imagine how it looks during sunset. Absolutely amazing! I will never forget this sunrise! The New Croton Reservoir was created as part of the effort to expand the water capacity of the Croton Aqueduct system in the 1890s. Croton Lake, the original Westchester County reservoir, was expanded with the construction of the large New Croton Dam, and smaller Muscoot Dam, to form the New Croton Reservoir. Generally twenty miles in length, the reservoir followed the contours of the valley, however stone walls were constructed in some locations to provide an adequate embankment. The New Croton Reservoir opened in 1906 and was capable of impounding thirty billion gallons of water

Such a breathtakingly beautiful experience 💞 You can actually feel the coolness of the water as it barely spritzes your face. I've since moved from Croton but I can't wait to go back and visit this remarkable place!!

Fishing is greater than ever. I fish with my own hand made lures that I use to sell at bobs tackle shop at the 4 corners on rt 100 .If you don't catch fish with them there are no fish there. Tite lines Cheers Nick

Beautiful place to visit and hike. Interesting history: work began in 1892, professional masons from Italy were hired to construct the reservoir. It took 14 years to build.
