Our First evening there was nice. By the next morning you realize you are in a large dog park with constant barking. The wood they sold us smoldered for hours before it could burn and stunk like garbage. The pool is closed to the children until 11:00 am, which makes for a long morning with four kids. I brought in a seltzer water with me to the pool and was quickly scolded for having a water with me while watching my children at the pool. My wife and cousin also brought plastic traveling water bottles with ice water, and they were told those were not welcome. A young couple who we did not know arrived shortly after and choose seats furthest away from the pool. They each had a small Gatorade bottle. Before they could even get their towels on their chairs, they were told that there hydrating drinks were not welcome. No snacks No coolers No drinks No music. If a child was to walk ANY PACE faster than a SLOW walk a whistle was blown and told to walk and threatened with a time out. The kids in the kiddie pool had to SLOWLY WALK. NO SPLASHING and NO PUTTING THEIR HEADS UNDER WATER. We could only swim for 50 minutes and forced to take a 10-minute break. I understand rules are rules. However, these rules are taking the excitement from children going to the pool. Going to the beach wasn't any better. We have gone to many campgrounds and enjoy spending the day at the pool with other campers, family and friends. My wife and I were excited to find a place close to home to take our kids for weekend get aways. We wanted to report to our large camping group of a wonderful clean campground close to home. Instead, we found Fish Lake Beach fell short of an enjoyable experience for my four children, wife, Parents, Cousins family with 3 children and myself. We will not be returning to Fish Lake Beach and will not recommend. Hopefully this place can loosen the reins for a more enjoyable experience for others.

Great place to get away. Very nice RV park, beach, pool, washers, dyers, different types of sites. They do not offer a military discount. They fly flags and have an eagle outside the gate, Home of the Brave. It's home of the free because of the brave. I am a 100% disabled veteran who had to leave a day early. They do not offer a refund if you have to leave early. They make enough money to offer a military discount, I hope I can update this next year on my next time around.

We just visited some family here. The facilities and beach area were very well maintained. Everyone was nice and the staff were friendly as well. We enjoyed swimming and building sand castles. We also got some good ice cream at the general store at the beach. Fun times.

Welcome to the “Land of 1000 Rules”. This property has apparently been in the same family for three generations, over 80 years. You would think that folks who have been in business for that long would understand the importance of customer service. Our campsite was located on the end on a row so that every vehicle that came into our section of the campground would shine their headlights into our unit. Also, the pavement ended right next to our site resulting in the roads on both sides of our camper being gravel. There was no speed limit posted on the road so the device trucks which were numerous and the endless golf carts would go zipping by, raising clouds of dust. If you go to the pool, don’t you dare take anything but a clear water bottle because management is afraid of people taking alcohol into the pool area even though the lifeguard can take an insulated cup with her. Also, do not move the chairs or you will be whistled at by the the lifeguard. However, you can have any kind of drink you might like and place it on the picnic table right outside the gate and imbibe as you might like. No moving the chairs because management is afraid that you will damage the chairs even though the lounge chairs have wheels. Note that there are no signs indicating you cannot move the chairs. I voiced my concern, especially about the dust, to the lady at the registration desk and she was dismissive and unconcerned about my suggestions. The laundry facility is outside in the heat and cold. The machines are under the eaves of the building so you won’t get rained on but there is no where to hang clothes and no clean tables to fold clothes on. They list over 500 seasonal sites and only 60 other sites. The seasonal sites with all the junk around the units and electric wires crisscrossing over their roofs give the appearance of a third world environment (see photos). Not recommended!

Pull up the entrance you're like,Wow, this could be fun. As they take you, the to your site it starts getting a little disappointing as the site was very small, no parking on top of your neighbors and neighbors there water hook up was in the middle of the yard. We unhook and set up camp. We went for a walk and checked everything out. They actually offer a lot. They have a clean beach, 2 fishing piers, mini golf, pools, hot tub, dog park, boat rentals, movie night, Sunday school, church, and more. The fishing right down sucked this weekend. No one (not just me) was catching anything. The water is very dirty! The camp store is way overpriced on the appetizers. They have bundles of wood for sale $8 you'll get a 20-minute fire out of it. Good luck and have fun

The resort was so nice, we had a camper the space between the sites weren't the best. Could barely fit two cars.. but the experience made up for it! Candy bingo had so many good candies! The lake was smaller than I thought but still nice! The people were also very nice! Clean place!

I wanna start with the good things. First of all the staff at this campground are outstanding. The campground is also very clean. They have great ice cream at the store for the kids and adults. The beach is also very nice. Bethany at the gate was awesome. Our site wasn't ready when we first arrived and she was very accommodating. The Bad. The sites are very crammed together. The campground is mostly seasonal's, but everyone is so close together it's ridiculous you can't even get two cars on one site. The store, I wouldn't even call it a store because they really don't have anything in there. Everything is behind the counter and what they do have you have to ask for it. You can't look around because there's nothing to look at. You have to get out of the pool every hour for 10 minutes for a safety check. (You don't have to do that at the beach) You would think they would take that time to skim the pool to clean it but no they don't. They closed the pool early on Saturday to prepare for movie night. But have a huge screen in another location, wasn't sure why they don't use it. What some of the seasonals told me is that at one time the park was awesome the sites were large it was like half the size of what it was now. Which is a shame. We are glad we went there because it was close to home but we will not be back.

I had been going to FLB for about 25 plus years but haven't been there in about 7. We rented out one of the trailers and it was worth every penny. The rental was extremely clean which helped make our stay more comfortable. My girls loved the beach and the pool the most of course. It was so nice to take a stroll down memory lane and show them everything I use to do when I was their age. We're already talking about going back next year!

We’ve been customers on,& off for years. They are petty strict w/ their rules when it comes to the pool. I’m still waiting for it to open on a hot sunny day after cool temps,& rain. Many people walked away dissatisfied. They won’t open their pool til it’s 68 degrees, including the hot tub. You also can’t move the chairs around . You can only have water at the pool only, if you decide to bring a beverage. Be aware of the rules, & stay-play safe!

Pay $60 per night for sand box and can’t even use one small tent for kid other way pay extra per night even it’s in same sand box what I paid already it’s extremely too much . Why advertise show family heated pool and hot tub if was whole weekend closed . We asked numeral time and firs answer was because outside temperature is still under 69 degrees. !!!!!!! So why it’s heated pool if need be 69 degrees on my cell phone and thermometer show 67 degrees they don’t open pool all day . And who will be use hot tub if outside will be so hot and warm ?????? So we not use pool ably watching closed pool every time we pass around pool . So sad . And not make any logical. Have heated pool and not open because outside is not 69 degrees . And hot tub not even talk about. For $60 per night for sand box and can’t anything do and use is too much I think so .

We stayed for the day at a friend's Mobil home. A great family fun place. Clean, friendly & welcoming. A hidden gem in the woods! It was like stepping back in time to a wholesome safe haven. 😉

No discounts on off-season any more, they raised the prices to much. our friends and families have always had 4 to 6 sites we have already made reservations at a different campground next spring. You have out priced your loyal customers. There are many places to camp that are nicer and more reasonable rates.

Ww came to this campground with our camping club this weekend. October 6-8, 2023. Check in was easy and they guided us to our site. I was very disappointed to find the sites so small (we have a 40 ft 5th wheel) and the neighbors site water hook up was right in the middle of the little grass area we had available. We have 2 dogs that we put up a kennel for, and it was a challenge to say the least. The campground is huge and well maintained. And I imagine the other amenities are nice (most were closed for the season, which is understandable). What really got me though was Sunday morning. It VERY clearly states in their check in materials that quiet hours are 10 pm to 9 am. Again, pretty standard and acceptable. Imagine my surprise to be woken up at 7:30 am on Sunday to what sounded like construction going on outside my camper! Got dressed and stepped outside to find CAMPGROUND STAFF draging and dropping about 40 picnic tables around with a tractor in the pavilion right outside my camper! Sheesh! I get it...end of season work and all, but respect your OWN quiet hours! Not a good way to end the weekend.

We were there since my daughter was only 2 yrs old and last year got banned from camping there said we were noisy and loud. And dogs are allowed everywhere. And in the morning came to our sight and told me my husband crapped outside the tent witch he never ever did and to suggest he did was just wrong it is really sad they would say such a thing to someone who has been going for over 10 years just sad for me and my family we really did love the place and my daughter is heart broken over it as well just sad really truly sad

Excellent place to come, especially with pets. They have the cleanest dog park I have ever been to. Clean, friendly, spacious, and accommodating. Honestly, I have no negative reviews from our stay. You will not be disappointed staying here.

Enjoyed a night here in mid June. Nice beach and other amenities. Sites are small but have grass patches between and space for a fire and picnic table. Don’t think I’d stay here for more than a night because I like more privacy but it was nice for a single night.

I have always loved this place, I’ve been going for 10 plus years. The beach is clean. The staff is wonderful. We rented a row boat, for a full day for about 20$. It was a lovely day and we will definitely be coming back.

Beautiful resort The pool and "lake" are inviting....BUT... sadly the staff, not so much. Folks on the phone and everything pre-trip and checking out was wonderful. 1. Went to the camp store to get some worms for fishing. Got the feeling that I was bothering the staff. 2. My grandkids and their parents got scolded at the waterfront. The entered the water without seeing a small red sign that said the beach was closed. 3. In another "encounter" at the pool, the life guard looked angry and told the boys to stop doing what ever they were doing...Now, I "get it" on a lot of levels. Boys some times need to be told, maybe forcefully and I understand that bacteria in the water are of concern, but this is a resort while beautiful can be ruined by crabby people. There are ways to "enforce" the rules without being terse.

We've gotten the $75 all-summer weekday pass for a few years now and it's a great deal--you can swim in the lake or play in the sand all day. They have lots of picnic tables, and a little shop with refreshments. It's really nice that the shop, the parking, and the restrooms are easy walking distance from the beach.

We just got a place there towards the end of last season. We love the family atmosphere and activities. My eldest daughter has made new friends because of the preteen night. Love seeing how other people set up their areas!

While we did not camp, we did go swimming and ordered food there. The staff is friendly and informative, beach was as clean as a beach gets, all in all a good outing. We will be back again soon when the water warms up a little more :)

We pulled in here on a Saturday looking to get some rates and also possibly take a look at the campground, Beach and Lake to see if we would like to book a campsite or cabin. We were told that only local residents and those with reservations could enter. This is the first Campground I have ever come across that will not let you look around before booking a site. Very disappointed

Today is the 10th anniversary of the first time we camped at Fish Lake. This is our 5th visit from Washington State and it gets better every time. They have done several additions and a gazillion improvements while maintaining the traditional family camping experience.

From rv camping perspective: site was not cleared before arrival; debris, items cluttered site; rules not enforced for dogs running loose, washing rvs , 4 & 5 cars parked at 1 site, missing sewer cover ( with cautions on flushing foreign matter), excessive noise at night, dumpsters overflowing and recycle bins filled with trash. Not what I expected from Fish Lake Campground.

Edit based on owners response- Guest Fee Structure - I don’t know where you get information but having been on the road for four year and staying at well over 200 campgrounds, we have never paid for guests. Unlicensed vehicle - and yet there were several. If you take this matter seriously, police your grounds. Flags - Specifically vulgar…you only need look just off the gate! This is a multi-part review. Fish Lake is primarily a seasonal ground with mostly park models. There is a RV Section with a mix of f/u and electric/water only. There is also an extended stay section for RVs. For the most part the staff is friendly and helpful. This is an older park and electrical power to the podium was an issue for us. We ranged from 106 - 115 volts. Even though it was a 50amp post, we had to manage our amperage usage. Brown-outs were common. Price per kwH exceed the COMED charges. They also have a guest charge. Regardless if guests use the facilities, or just come to visit and not use the facility, or you arrive at noon or 6 pm, they charge $6/guest. I get a fee for pool/beach use, but to visit a campsite…ridiculous. I also noted several cars (must have been long-termers) whose vehicle registration had long expired. In IL, you can’t get liability insurance for expired tags so these people would freely drive w/o regard to those around them. The challenge for the Chicagoland area is there are not many campgrounds. State Parks have power only and max stays of 14 days. Fish Lake is pretty much the only game in town. They don’t seem to have any issues filling up on weekends. I could up the stars to three (3), but this is a big one for me. I don’t care who you voted for, who you hate, don’t want to see political flags or vulgar flags when I am sitting around a campfire relaxing. Keep it to yourself. It is about time campgrounds adopt a “no political/protest flag policy”. Those who get four and five stars have such policy.

Love love love this place. Great service. Everyone is friendly, a lot of people bring their dogs here which I really like. The showers are good, the food, the views, the trees are perfect. Try them out for yourself. We're definitely going back.

I was looking for information. I actually took the time TWICE to go to the campground to get information and was given different information by each gate attendant. I was referred to the website for pictures of the beach area, which there really aren't any. I was also asking for list of rules, which based on the reviews seems to be lengthy, but unable to find them. I guess they have enough business and aren't interested in gaining customers. Very disappointing.

Busy place during the week, upkeep is a good thing. Strange continuous siren going on for a couple of day now, seems no one knows what it's coming from, pretty annoying. Other than that, Great place, the people that run the place are the best! I'll be back again, maybe we won't hear the sirens. 🌝👍
