I grew up in LF and have been coming to The Lantern for 30 years. I don't know if it's Covid or what but the quality has gone down terribly. The broasted chicken (we had 5 orders) was so over cooked it was inedible, used to be the best. I hope they can turn things around.

I have not been to the Lantern in 15 years so i was in the neighborhood so i thought i would go back. The food was fair but out waitress was very good. What i will say is that the place needs to be cleaned up, its not good. Looking at the floors, bathrooms,windows and the kitchen area was disturbing and should be addressed. Can't imagine I'm the only one to feel this way.

Have to admit the food quality was soo good. The burgers were very juicy! I have to admit the ambiance was really nice. The service was alright, lots of people inside the shop so it took a bit longer which wasn’t too bad.

My husband and I have been coming here for years. The staff is incredible, the atmosphere is classic. It's a staple. Hands down my favorite bar ever.

My husband and I were going to try this restaurant today. When we arrived there wasn't a hostess, so we just found an empty table and sat down. We sat for 5 minutes without either of the two apparent servers acknowledging us. There were 3 other tables of patrons there when we arrived. After waiting for several more minutes for the server to come over to give us menus, I decided to go over to ask for menus since he seemed busy waiting on two other tables. I let him know we were seated by the window, thinking maybe he was unaware since we seated ourselves. After another 10 minutes, he still was waiting on the other tables and hadn't approached us, not even a signal from him that he'd be over as soon as he could,. We were not approached or even acknowledged by the other server either who was assisting one of the other 3 tables. We were not served at all, not offered a glass of water or even a table place settings. So, we left!

The best bar in the north shore, hands down. Fun and creative decor and ambiance. Excellent service and friendly and professional employees. Food is fantastic and drinks are high quality yet affordable. The miniature trains running between the three rooms add the perfect amount of whimsy to the atmosphere. There’s a reason why the majority of patrons in here at any given time will tell you they’ve been coming their entire lives. Honestly, I’ve never interacted with an employee there that wasn’t exceptional, but Kosta the bartender in particular has been there for years and is a very well-known and well-loved face of the Lake Forest community. What’s not to love?

Absolutely the best experience in my life. Joe took care of our group. No heads up. Seriously, the kindest friendliness and best service in the world. Please support this business. No management. They all work together. Our server is the kindest person that I have ever met.

This is the second time I have had lunch there in the last couple of months. Great blackened chicken salad, my co-worker also enjoyed the shepherds pie. Good place for a casual business lunch as it is easy to park and quiet, so easy to have conversation. Will go there again!

Have not been there since covid so I looked forward to my visit. Brought a friend, his first time. We both had a lantern burger. His condiments were incorrect. My burger was the great taste I remembered but the bun must've been several days old as it kept crumbling until I eventually was holding just the meat patty and toppings. I understand that prices go up but if that's so, then serving size should remain the same. Far fewer chips than in the past and even though I asked when we sat down if you still included popcorn, I had to ask for it when I finished eating. My friend said everything was good but I think, knowing him, that he was just being polite. On top of everything else, the train wasn't running. This is not the Lantern that I remember.

Love, this place! Great menu no matter what you want..bar food, salad, dessert...the pieces are excellent for this location and can not beat the old time train atmosphere. Definitely will go again.

Outstanding service. Servers were attentive, prompt, accurate, friendly, clean, and exceeded customer service. Kid friendly. Sunday special was fillet steak sandwich with loaded tots, delicious! No cake pop but little one loved pizza and fries. Loved my experience!

I called ahead and booked a party for approximately 40 or so people. They gave us the back room, we had a great experience, Dan the manager did a great job and accommodated all our needs. What a fun place!! Thanks guys.

I sat at one of the small green booths and it was loose, making it hard to move comfortably in it. The table was not properly cleaned and had a slight urine smell. Food is very reasonably priced and the buffalo wings are delicious, but the mac and cheese has a liquid texture that I didn’t like. This place needs some serious maintenance, it looks like it hasn’t been touched in years.

This place is kind of a hole in the wall but it's a gem!! They have a fried goat cheese salad that I think about. The food is delicious!!!! The kids meals are sized well and come with homemade cake pops. They have little model trains on suspended tracks above your head which the kids love. Cheap beers in several sizes. Yum yum yum. Definitely go

Party of 12, took a minute to get seated due to short staffing, about 8 min wait was all. Food was fenominal! Everyone had something different and no one was disappointed. Oreo shake is amazing!

I'd give it a 3.5 star if it was a option. Good service and environment. I tried the famous burger and an order of wings on my 1st visit, both were good and the prices seemed reasonable. On my 2nd visit I gave the Broasted chicken a try, it was cooked perfectly; moist inside, crispy outside, but the light breading didn't have any flavor. The side order of house potato chips were really good.

I was greeted immediately. I was waiting for my son and they sat me immediately. We had a Patty melt and Buffalo burger. The fried mushrooms were outstanding and served with ranch. My Patty melt cooked perfectly to M.R. and the huge buffalo burger as well. Loved the atmosphere. Old school and comfortable. I forgot the servers name but her Mom works with her. She told me about the history of the store. All good in this restaurant. 👍

Nice local pub. Not too fancy inside, but a good basic menu. Friendly waitstaff and cold beer. Plus it’s in a pretty little downtown area.

First time here and not the last. A very comfortable place, easy going, with a friendly crowd. I save 5 stars for repeatedly awesome places but I got no problems with this place. Just had wings tonight and they were big 'n delicious.

Food and drinks were good and it's in a great location. I would say that the inside could use some updating. Doesn't need to be fancy but an interior update would make this place even better. Overall though the food and service was good and fairly priced!

Love the food and amazing staff! They were very accommodating on a recent visit with family from out of state. We love the patio in the summer. It's our go to restaurant for special occasions, business outings and just because!

Delicious!! Really good tater tots, and the salads are huge! All very tasty. They have gluten free buns and pizza crust and bread! Highly recommend! And they have outdoor seating that our dog was welcome at.
