So we eat here probably once a month, and most of the time the food is fairly decent. Today however we got takeout and we were served rice that was crunchy as if it were 5 hours or older. We also tried something new the calamari and before ordering we asked if it was good and they said yes. The calamari is clearly freezer burnt and was so rubbery you could use it as a hair tie. We are noticing over the past couple months that things are getting worse every time we go. We hope that the food gets better from here on out or we will have to find a new place to eat.
We had an amazing vegan meal here. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We ordered the veggie pakora, vegetable coconut curry (make sure to order it dairy-free for vegan) with chickpeas ($3 extra), and chana masala. Everything was perfectly seasoned and so satisfying. The vegetable coconut curry was creamy and delicious and had an excellent assortment of veggies. The chana masala was very flavourful and not overly oily as it can be at other restaurants. It was one of the best chana masalas I’ve had (and I’ve tried a lot). The pakoras were also crispy and delicious. We loved it, and will definitely be back again soon!
I had lunch here today. The food was absolutely delicious. Some of the best Indian cuisine I have ever had. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and atmosphere is great. However I want to point out the service could be a bit more attentive and engaging. It would of made the experience better in my opinion. Not a big deal. Besides that I had a wonderful experience dining here and would definitely come back, I recommend anybody to try Invitation Indian Cuisine! Thanks again.
I ordered Tikka Masala Chicken (ordered mild) with Roti’s. Meal delicious, good portion size, heated plates to keep it warm longer. Server very friendly and helpful with menu choice questions. To top off our Galentine’s lunch we each received a gift. What a nice touch… (vase not included). We will return! 😁❤️
Definitely lingering at the low end of the spectrum as far as Indian cuisine is concerned. The interior is alarmingly and garishly reminiscent of a Subway restaurant, and the level of service was so underwhelming that I thought that they didn’t require my presence on the three occasions that I trialed this restaurant. The low rating is a reflection of the summative quality of the food over three trials, with the last sampling leaving me ill a few hours afterwards. This is indicative of slovenly kitchen practices, and is a shocking indictment of their degree of professionalism, and their lack of commitment to their customers. Sadly, my first instincts were correct, but I did give them the benefit of the doubt spread out over a month.
This is a really tasty Indian restaurant, and all the more appealing for being in the small and very pretty area of Chemainus. We ate dinner here and ordered the chicken curry house speciality, coconut lamb, okra masala, and garlic naan. All were delicious. We especially liked the chicken curry, which was seasoned delectably. The lamb coconut was a little sweet for our taste but the lamb was extremely tender and the dish was good overall. The okra (aka bindi) was delicious, as was the naan. We also very much liked that the music was Indian, and not some generic rock or something else. All in all, a very nice way to enjoy an end of the day on Vancouver Island.
I enjoyed my meal here, the samosa was DELICIOUS! However, the chicken in my korma was dry. I would eat at this location again but switch out the chicken next time.
The food was delicious, very distinctive flavors between each dish, delicious garlic naan. Very good prices!
