On the peace river, that contain a beautiful bird sanctuary for wounded birds. Small beach with plenty of shelters and benches. Can watch boats of all types exiting and entering the river. The mangrove walkways leads one into a different world filled with birds and little creatures.

Wasn’t very impressed. The beach and view aren’t as nice as other options in the area and the walkways through the mangroves are limited. There’s a boat ramp, and people were fishing on a small pier and on the walkway adjacent to the inlet so maybe it is good for that. Parking is small and limited, and was already full when I arrived around 11:30 on a Wednesday so many people were parking on the side of the road that leads into the main park area. The Spanish Explorer figures were a little cheesy too. In general, not much to see here.

Just love these pocket parks. A small but decent beach. Actual rest rooms! And they are clean and well supplied. πŸ˜‰. There are a couple of short board walks into the mangroves. A bird rescue place that has a small entry fee and well worth it. Often a vendor of some sort around noon until mid-afternoon. Even a bit of shade for those of us who prefer not to be par broiled. Great sunsets.

Has a boat launch, and white sand beach, but no swimming/water access do to retaining wall along the water. There is some natural shade, and man-made roof shelter. Hot dog vendor in lot, dogs start at $7, boiled Hebrew Nationals, drinks are $2

Went to watch the sunset here, best place in Punta Gorda to watch the sunset in my opinion. It was so beautiful!

Nice park with fishing, harbor view, boat launch, sandy beach, children’s playground and for the time being a bird rescue. Many historical markers and a nature walk. Only downside is that they don’t allow pets. This is a must see. You can kayak from here and watch the sailboats heading out the channel. Many statues of ponce de Leon and area incudes a restroom. Great place to bike to. Pictures are from the surrounding area.

There's a short path that goes over a swamp area it can get pretty dark in there in the evening and a little scary LOL. Also there's a small playground for the children. The walk to the beach is short it's a beautiful view of the sea. While I was visiting I observed a thunderstorm in the distance over the ocean it was spectacular. A very beautiful place to watch the sun set.

I laid my husband down to rest. I put his Ashes in the water because Pounce De discovered Punta Gorda, and fountain of youth , so i released his remains to rest in the water. Be young forever so I love this park with all my heart. This was 17 years ago, November 26th. I put him in the water. Thank you. It's a beautiful place to go good fishing, good walking. Good trails everything I just love it beautiful. I Signed my children's name in the sand all three of them cause they were all under the age of ten when this was.

An extremely enjoyable outing for the whole family. The food at the the old Spanish mill is incredible and making the pancakes is a highlight. Though they will cook them for you it seems they taste even better when you put in the work!!

My first time there. As you can see, very nice trails that lead out to a place for fishing. A nice boat ramp as well. Also the Nature Preserve is great learning about rescued animals. Recommended Donations are $10.00.Everyone entering Donated at least that amount.

Ponce de Leon Park is a true gem! This park offers a serene escape with its beautiful natural scenery and tranquil atmosphere. The walking trails are well-maintained, perfect for a leisurely stroll or a brisk walk, surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature. The views of the water are breathtaking, providing a perfect backdrop for relaxation or photography. It's also a great spot for bird watching and enjoying Florida's wildlife. The facilities, including picnic areas and playgrounds, are clean and well-kept, making it an ideal location for family outings. This park is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors in a peaceful and picturesque setting.

The best place to watch the boats go by, regular dolphin sightings and other sealife and wildlife. Breathtaking sunsets night after night.

1st time ever going to this park. It's a beautiful park with a beach and shelters for cookouts. Beautifully landscaping. And even has an estuary with beautiful birds. Also has a playground. Not much to the playground though. That could be better. Only a swing a sliding board one bouncy 🐴. Needs more playground activities for the kids.

Very small but wonderful park to watch a sunset. Google has the park closing at 6pm. We were here on a Saturday night in June 2020 and the park was open for sunset (8:30ish). We arrived at the park at 7:30 the frame.

We had a wonderful time saw many animals and went into the bird sanctuary. I really learned a lot about what it takes to keep our local animals safe. The staff does a wonderful job in protecting and informing us please go and ask many questions to take part in helping keep our animals safe.

Great boat launch and place to watch the sunset. If you have kayaks, I HIGHLY recommend going through the mangrove tunnels nearby. There are quite a few of them, and the ones big enough to kayak through are visible on satellite view (as little lines through the forest). Very cool, and it’s probably one of the quickest boat launches to get to the mangroves from nearby

I honestly cannot comprehend why or how this is qualified to be called a beach. You cannot access the water - it’s just a concrete drop off. The water smells and is incredibly murky (exactly why you wouldn’t want to be in the water if there was actually access to it). Do not waste your time here - go down south for an actual beach. This place does have a cute little boardwalk through the mangroves, but beyond that it’s a glorified boat launch.

Very nice park. Clean and user friendly. Has restrooms, playground, walking path, beach, and boat loading area. Tucked away in Punta Gorda, it's a good stop when passing through. The wildlife center was awesome to visit, with knowledgeable staff and a great mission. Super friendly people working there. The place is open daily.

Nice historical park and sunning beach. You can’t actually get into the water because the sandy beach is behind a sea wall. Easy boardwalk through a bit of mangroves and a place to fish and watch boats large and small using the launch and canals.

Great places to go fishing. You can catch some type of fish during low and high tides. We live 3 hours away and always look forward for a day at Ponce De Leon Park. The only part that bothers me is how an animal preserve park will not let animals on its property, talking about dogs or other pets you might want to bring with you. If it wasn't for that fact I would give it a 5 star rating.

It's ok, no dogs allowed which is a bummer but they're preserving wildlife. A cool little rehab facility usually open to the public but was closed probably due to covid.

Nice, but the beach area, which is not for swimming, is under construction. Still has a great view of the harbour. Playground doesn't have a lot and its not big at all. It has picnic tables and a place to BBQ.

This park has its own ambiance with its great view of Gasparilla Sound Charlotte Harbor The beach may be small but there are grassy areas with tables and has its own boat launch but don't miss visiting The Peace River wildlife sanctuary right next to the park I believe they close at 4:00.

There is consruction going on at this time Jan 2021. We were able to sit on a bench near the playground and see a beautiful sunset. They have bathrooms that were clean and a boat ramp. Nice place to sit and eat dinner. There are covered benches. Lots of history markers and statues. Cool place! We want to come back and visit the rescue center next to the park.

Beach is under construction. If you're putting a boat in the water πŸ‘. "Nature trail" is very short. Everyone seems to drive through the lot between 30-45 mph & not a care in their eyes about almost running you over!

Quaint, small park, with a local wildlife center. Mostly birds that are local. A couple bald eagles, always nice to see. It looks out to the gulf, so sunsets are beautiful. They're installing new seawalls and there are areas to fish. Pretty nice overall

Not exactly what we were expecting, small little park with a beach, with no water access besides a little narrow opening into the water where it's not the clearest water. Lots of algae and debris. Would be nice for a sunset walk

This is a historic landmark for Punta Gorda and it breaks my heart to know that in just a few years it will all be developed. Our county does nothing to preserve our beautiful peaceful land, they only want to build, build, build! They are moving the wildlife center, and in its place will be a bunch of entitled old farts living in overpriced ugly buildings. So enjoy this park while you can!!!
