The food is so good! I love any place that lets you "Build Your Own" so you can get EXACTLY what you want. The food is fresh and amazing (yes, you want to get the donuts.) Dining in, the atmosphere is amazing and all of the staff is super kind. A very nice date spot that's still casual. We cannot stop raving about this place!

Unfortunately I only dined here for a tiny minute while waiting to pick up a couple Uber delivery orders, BUT I am very excited to come back and have a proper meal here! While I waited I enjoyed an order of the Vegetarian Fried Dumplings, which were SO good! The owner was so kind and gave me two extra dumplings as a thank you for delivering orders. So nice! The bartender who helped take my order was also so friendly and kept a conversation while I waited. I can tell the vibe here is very much all about taking care of the people who work for them and making sure each guest is acknowledged and happy. I also really enjoyed walking into the restaurant to see a beautiful art mural and cool rope lighting going up a staircase that leads into a nice open space for seating. The set up of the restaurant and food concept in general is very unique! The dumplings I got were so tasty and I can't wait to come back to try an actual Poke bowl. Thanks again!

Pokesan now has me as a customer for life. I ordered delivery from them last week (as I often order from them at least once a week due to my strict diet and their excellent quality of food) and they (or the Uber Eats driver, not sure) forgot my tea. I love their tea, not a huge deal, it happens. Got a partial refund from Uber Eats and that was that. Ordered from them today, and got everything I ordered AND a nice little surprise. It blew me away that they remembered they forgot my tea last week, and they wrote a very generous note and included FREE crab rangoon. Excellent food, first in class customer service. I will definitely be back, you all have earned a permanent customer. Please share this with your staff. And if you’re looking for poke bowls in Kansas City, need I say more? This is THE spot. UPDATE 9.26.2022: my coworkers and I all ordered from Pokisan on Friday and once again, amazing experience! They loved the food and thanks once again to Pokisan for the free crab Rangoon! 😎❤️

The vibes are perfect and the bowls are great. They have options, like tofu skin and hamachi, that you won't find at the other poke places around. Also, they have a bar!

I want to preface this by saying there’s few places I think are pretty terrible (you can look at a lot of my other reviews), but the poke here was the worst poke place my wife and I have ever been… the miso soup was a weird brown color like a French onion soup… it was the worst miso soup I’ve had before. Then the poke bowl was nasty. My wife and I wanted to share one since we weren’t too hungry. I ate 3 small bites and I was done, my wife tried to be kind and ate some more then gave up... It had some of the worst ingredients of all time. The tuna that looked like cat food and tasted fishy, the cucumber tasted bad (like spoiled bad according to my wife), and the avocado looked like it was sitting a while (darker green with brown). We didn’t eat 70% of the bowl, and we are usually ones who eat almost everything because we hate wasting food and good reviews are usually a good indicator. I would not recommend. I think the server was kind, but this is solely based on food.

Really loved this establishment! Went mid saturday after a local event, so it was really quiet and definitely would go again. The bowl was prepared quickly and was very good. Really liked the atmosphere in the restaurant, even though there are some good stairs to get up to the restaurant!

The type of Build-a-Bowl place that deserves to stay right where it's at serving up deliciousness in every meal. Not often a new trend comes to the Metroplex that takes off like a bowl of Poke, especially when you get to build it yourself and make it different every time. The Staff is very welcoming and the atmosphere is on point with the view and the chill/comfy style of the dining room. I choose a Medium build-a-bowl with Vietnamese Iced coffee which is pretty awesome to watch. Just south of P&L, so it's a great stop when you're finishing up or starting there. Come by with a date, a group, or even yourself, just come hungry

I was craving a poke bowl and stumbled upon this place. Overall the food was good! The octopus was slightly fishier in taste than I would like it. The only reason why it lost a star is due to the missing protein in my bowl (crab salad).

Delicious build-your-own poké bowls. Fun, intimate space in the upper level of the building. Important Note: Do NOT park in the angle parking of the alley beside the restaurant. It belongs to another business and they WILL have you towed without mercy. And no one should have to spend over $200 for poké - even when it's really good.

Went for the first time yesterday night and it will be my last. You are given a sheet to fill out to get your bowl. We clearly highlighted the things we wanted on the sheet. When we got our bowls, they had items we did not request in them and left out items we did request. Very odd. The bowls felt skimpy on ingredients, protein, and especially sauce. And the worst caveat, to me personally, if everything is served in to-go bowls, with plastic utensils. For $15 a bowl, it shouldn’t be skimpy or in to-go containers. Also, their website and their very own sign out front say they are a sake bar. Blatantly false. The owner told us they don’t have a liquor license so they cannot serve any alcohol. I wanted to love this place, but it was an overall disappointment. I’ll give an extra star because the food we were given was tasty, despite not being what we ordered and being given skimpy portions for the price.

The small, yet welcoming environment of the restaurant is like none other. The staff and owners are kind, and the food is delicious! I definitely recommend!

Had a great experience at PokéSan! The staff were super friendly and the food was really delicious! This second floor location is easy to access from the street and has a great atmosphere. Makes a cozy spot to chill and have food and drinks. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and it was cooked well and had good flavor. I’d recommend trying if you haven’t gone!

Positives: fair price, fair size (medium bowl pictured), good range of toppings, fast service, and neat upstairs dining area. The raw salmon and tuna were both a bit overly blanched/cooked, but there shouldn't be high expectations for saltwater fish in KCMO.

Pokesan is the best. Great concept of putting a sushi roll into a bowl because it's honestly just more filling that way.

Very cute little poke spot. The quality was something of the freshest and best I've had outside Hawaii. Generous portion, quality selection, and the inside was a lot cuter than it looks outside.

There will always be people who see faults first, but I choose to at least try to avoid that. This place is simply fantastic. From the hot teas and Vietnamese coffee to the poké bowls and dumplings, you can't go wrong with anything on their menu! I've watched hours disappear while dining here, just from the atmosphere and ambiance, while getting away from the grind. I recommend any of the poké bowls. You can't go wrong, although to be fair, I have to admit I don't do "mixed greens" and so can't comment on that base. The dumplings are superb, as are the noodles! Anytime I'm through Kansas City (usually for work), I do whatever I can to swing through and have yet to be disappointed! (I'll add more photos the next time I'm through, but pictured here are their "poké fries.")

Delicious takeout for the holidays. Excellent service. Beautiful space with lots of light and a great vibe. Best fish 🍣 in town + homemade egg rolls from a family recipe. Best vegetable dumplings 🥟 + dipping sauce in town. Love this place. Everything is top shelf and made with care.
