    Came to town on a short notice leisure trip and needed a car. Booked an Intermediate size car (Toyota Corolla or similar) directly through the main AVIS site for this location about three days out. Arrived and was told that the only vehicle they had was a minivan. The clerk blamed it on other renters not returning their cars. Since our plans involved going to Cedar Point, we needed a vehicle so after a quick back and forth about my reservation, I was basically told, it's this or nothing so I took it. Besides not being a fan of the vehicle, it was also extremely dirty. A quick 5 minute vacuum and wipe down of the inside would have made a huge difference. It also had a very strong chemical odor that was so strong you could actually taste it in the back of your through. It made for a very unpleasant ride. At least the van drove fine and we had no issues on that front. Judging by the other reviews, the practice of not having the vehicle type that customers reserve seems to be their norm. With the scarcity of available short notice rentals in this area, customers have little choice but to put up with it since there aren't many other options. If I come back to Cleveland, I am staying far away from this rental location. In the event there's nothing else available anywhere else, I'd find something through TURO instead. I should have probably gone that route from the start.

    If it was possible to give a Zero I would, the service needs personal development in customer service, just from reading previous reviews, I will say it is safe to assume this is a regular occurrence and it continues to happen. I rented a vehicle that had bad brakes, I would have returned it the very same day but due to the time of renting it was late in the day and they were closed. I asked since I wasn't able to use the vehicle for the purpose of renting it. Could I return it a day later (NO WAS THE ANSWER). Please understand that this was my second trip here because my original pick up date, when I arrived they had no cars available. I had a slow leak requested assistance was told my type of rental required for me to talk with the above location. I could continue with this but I will digress and say one thing. I know everyone has different experiences and I get that but it was how I was treated when I needed the assistance, that's what determined that I will never rent a car from the above location ever again. Neither Avis or Uber Customer Service can explain why this happened but the supervisors I spoke with agreed this is not how reservations work. I wasted an hour of my time driving down there for nothing despite arriving at my scheduled pick up time. After several hours with customer service trying to find out where the staff is that is supposed to be fulfilling my reservation, I was offered a reschedule for today at 9am. The new set of problems include; Receiving a compact instead of the mid size I payed for. I'm 6'5" so this is a real problem as I cannot even sit up straight in the car that feels more akin to a child's toy. This rental is intended for Uber so I'll be driving this tiny vehicle around for 12 hours which is a very big problem for me as I barely fit in the vehicle. This location currently doesn't have any bigger sizes so I'm stuck with a car that is way too small for me. Furthermore no compensation has been mention from Avis or Uber as far as what they are going to do about lost wages for losing almost 2 days of work because of this. Apparently it will take Uber several business days from today to "escalate" the situation. Clearly the communication between Uber and Avis is entirely broken in their partnership as one keeps referring me to the other for responsibility. I talk to Mom and Mom tells me to talk to Dad. I talk to Dad and Dad tells me to talk to Mom. I wish I could say that game was fun but it's not. While I was in the store the associate ringing me up got a call from what sounded like a Uber driver who was broken down. This has me very concerned on top of everything else the rental might break down on me while I'm trying to cover the cost of wasted time and money from all of this. Would recommend Uber drivers steering clear of this location.

    Don't waste your time here. The company is unprofessional and so is this location and staff. They claim they know what they're doing. They make it your fault for everything yet they don't know their head from a hole in a ground. Just go to enterprise and save time and blood pressure..

    We made a reservation for pick up at 8AM, no one showed up until 830. I brought up being late and was told "Don't worry about late". We rent from Avis a lot and have never had an issue. I recommend trying a different location.

    I went it to the NORTH OLMSTED location and they was out of cars on a weekend and locked the doors so when I got there I said why are you’ll closed the answer was because we are out of cars really where a business do this at ? HERTZ on Detroit is no BETTER in Lakewood that review is next terrible 😞 experience playing with people bank accounts. 0 stars ⭐️ Google invest in it please these days thanking you’ll In advance 😊

    If i could give them a negative star I would. Don't rent here** didn't have vehicle we rented made us go to the air port to get a vehicle. Dropped vehicle off then 10 days later started getting charges for gas that we returned FULL. kept charging more on credit card ended uo cancelling credit card and disputing charges still trying to fix month later. Be AWARE! Car from airport dirty had to clean before I would let my family in the car.

    People get confused with this location because it is Avis and Budget. AVIS is for Uber and Budget is for Consumers. Granted the owner can be rude and down right arrogant and cheap (will not pay for wiperblades when you require them at 10:30 PM on a Saturday night). But if you talk to him he will work with you. You give an attitude, you WILL get an attitude, simply put. Elizebeth is a great represenitive there. Being a rental with Uber Partners / Drivers, these cars are beat up missing matts etc. as other drivers DO NOT take care for these cars. So Renter Beware. These cars cannot be expected to be in mint condition. That is TOO HIGH of an EXPECTATION! If this is you, you should not be here.

    I've had this car for 6 weeks and for some reason they have not attempted to take money from my account, the money is still in my account. This gentleman had me call my bank, my bank verified that no transaction was attempted from avis, he had me call cooperate they said not to charge me late fees, he's attempting to charge me fees and a new rental agreement, basically 4 weeks for an error on their end. Cooperate and my bank both said he did not attempt any charges. He tried calling me one time and said he doesn't need to call me in reference to this, this is how I make my living he could care less! He is stealing money from people for his awful book keeping

    Very unprofessional rude a slightly racist. They are very overwhelmed with Uber orders and don’t treat customers fairly or with much respect at all. The customer service is terrible. The rental caught a flat with no spare in the trunk. When I called the office I didn’t get any formal assistance I was just told they don’t have any cars. Worst experience ever. I wouldn’t recommend this company to my worst enemy. This location is the worst.

    They just charged me 1400$ for a rental car that got impounded the second day I rented it. I informed them and filed a report the very second day and kept calling them almost every day after that. Took them 3 weeks to recover the car and they charged me for that whole time and also their staff also stole my $400 dollar radar detector from the car

    This location has a scam going on where they claim the bank denied your payment over the weekend, so they can charge you extra days and bogus fees, when I know better I wasn’t born yesterday and I know a scam when I see one…

    Individual who rented me the vehicle was very rude. Also was very impatient. He gave me false information and also charged me a different amount than what was on the paper work I signed. When I got the car I noticed that it was making a loud noise on the highway. When I tried to contact them the phone number that was provided was disconnected.

    Is it the company, or just Cleveland airport??? THINK TWICE! No don't think, just Say NO! I rented a car, paid upfront, and was charged for returning the car the day of scheduled about an hour and a half EARLY. As well as charged gas when I refilled the tank to full prior to returning it at a gas station down the street from the airport return. I contacted Avis for the past two weeks and they've been giving me the run around instead of giving me my money back. I've provided more than enough documentation, bank statements and receipts from the merchant. The worst! They STILL denied giving me my money back even with the proof of purchase. Would NOT recommend! Unscrupulous company and shysters at the Cleveland Airport Avis center. The return staff was also very verbally insulting and unprofessional when telling customers where to park the returning vehicles.

    In all my years of renting a vehicle, I've always had to call in to extend my contract. Every company I've rented from has stated that. The guy I rented from a 2 weeks ago definitely stated that. I even called in last week to extend it, and he did and asked for my mileage. I'd give him 5 stars all day. Upon returning my vehicle, the lady said that rentals are extended automatically the day that it's due and that I would have to call in the mileage. Makes no sense whatsoever, especially when I was told that I would have to call it in. The day I called to renew last was the day that it was due. It's disturbing that I (or any customer) would receive two totally different answers for the same process. A very important process at that, because it involves a money exchange from customer to business. I'm not gonna lie; it's wonderful that you're open on a Sunday. Greatly appreciated. Can't thank you enough for this. I just need clarification on the rental extension process. It would suck to put off my next rental for a day and go somewhere else, but if a major part of the process has two separate answers, the extra day is just a minor inconvenience because I'd rather be 1000% clear on the terms than play roulette with my credit card...

    Got a rental from this location yesterday,And they gave me a dirty filthy Car And when I went back inside the guy saidt that's all we have We do the best that we can do just take it. He was very rude. The car has alot of scratches on it and he didn't even want to mark it down but I complained about it so he said ok fine with an attitude then went outside and only marked a couple down, the car is still dirty and needs to be washed. If I could rate this a negative ten I definitely would. They need a customer service class review or something and corporate needs to come in there as well.

    The Friday after Thanksgiving they closed at 11 a.m unbeknownst to me because there was no communication from the manager that they would be charging for the rental before 11 that day, so I tried to drive on Saturday only to realize that I wasn’t able to because my Uber rental was taken out of the system so when I called the young lady told me I had to pay a late fee, because I didn’t pay on time, so I was told to pay and take it up with the manager when he returns on the following Tuesday from his vacation, so I paid the fee so I could drive and make my money this was the weekend that the Brown’s was playing at home, so it was definitely a high paying weekend, but even after paying the late fee and all I still couldn’t drive because I wasn’t put back into the system until Monday morning when I called back and complained, I missed a entire weekend plus my boost pay for Monday morning, they truly don’t have it together at all 😡

    Shady practices with swiping credit cards, When trying to call to extend, you get a message that the number is not in service. Female staff member is rude and very unprofessional. Urber need to switch to a new location. Never has vehicles for Urber drivers and when you get one they're damaged, not clean, no fluids, windows are a mess, no gas and charge you for gas if you extend. Worst experience ever.

    Rented a Ford Explorer, the car was very nice and clean. Staff was nice and efficient. Returning the car was no problem. I would rent here again.

    Rude staff that doesn't know their company's debit card policy. They both were talking down to us the entire time. Had to be the worst customer service I've ever had. Can't believe Avis & Budget would let such rude staff represent them..

    I missed a wholes day of work because they didnt process my rental correctly. On top of them, I had to clean out the car because it was so dirty. When I tell you the water was black the first wash.

    Negative 5 stars for Avis. I have rented cars from here for years until recently. I traveled to Indiana & AVIS subsequently billed me for nearly 2 months on my credit card for tolls in New York City!? on the same dates I was in Indiana. that totaled over $100. 12 emails to corporate & finally a call back. Avis cannot stop these charges & attempts at stealing. There is nothing Avis can or will do. Watch YOUR CREDIT card for 2 months & call them and you credit card .don't expect an apology or incentive to rent again.

    Rented from this location this morning. Great service. Fast and friendly. Was told they had an altima. When I arrived I was offered an upgrade for renting for long term. I had a choice of a couple suv's. Took a nice Mitsubishi SUV. Great to have a choice. Will be renting again from this location again in January and February.
