HI, I am full time RV traveler and I visit many places. Nature parks are my destination priority as I do photograph landscape and wildlife. Split Oak Forest is beautiful nature park I have been visiting the last 13 years. Unfortunately due the luck of rain many mature oaks I have been looking at for years are now dying. Split Oak Forest is fairly large park where you may walk several miles in the radius. It is rarely busy and most the time you would not see other soul. I will come back again in the future. Thumb Up and Enjoy !

Gorgeous park, wildlife is abundant and healthy. Trails can be a bit tricky the first time but getting β€œlost” is part of the fun. The main trails are well marked and really only a few of them. Easy ways to walk 2, 4, 5, and 6 mile walks and combinations. Lakes are gorgeous. Def want bug spray and sunblock. Equal parts of full sun vs cover. Stay aware, be present and enjoy tons of deer, tortoises, rabbits, various birds (friendly scrubjays, cranes, black birds, hawks, osprey). Look carefully for a fox squirrel... tons of tracks. Have fun with nature.

A great park with excellent trails to Lake Mary. I would recommend hiking either early in the day or later in the afternoon. Such amazing views. There are no bathrooms so be ready. Either way once you get started it's amazingly quiet and tranquil.. until you here the wildlife. It's the sound of music! You never know what you'll see but won't be disappointed.

Love the outdoors? Want to see a variety of what Florida has to offer? Then visit Split Oak Forest. This place has a lot of wild life, beautiful views, and a nice looping trail that extends for either ~4 miles or the longer loop at ~8 miles. I saw a boar, multiple deer, and many other smaller critters. The bugs were not bad. There's not much shade between the hammocks but once in the forested areas, you'll have some cover. Make sure to look around where the Moss Park trail is in order to find the famous Split Oak. It is impressive and beautiful. One of my favorite places to hike.

Tricky trails! The map did NOT have the trails all correctly labeled. Gorgeous views, very sandy trails which made running hard. No biking allowed. Horseback and walking/running only. Saw a tortoise! Lots of cool looking lakes. Will definitely go back and try to be more cautious and try to avoid those unlabeled trails. No bathrooms, no parking fees. The trails connect to Moss Park trails.

Ok so the people that work here are extremely nice and the park itself is beautiful. Its perfect for a family to visit or if you enjoy going on trails and experiencing nature. The only issue is that when i went with my girlfriend we experienced a couple strange things. For one, this park prohibits hunting and theres a sign that says so before hopping on the trail. Well into our hike we heard a scream, it sounded like a woman although it could have been an animal. We arent sure but it was scary when it happened. About 30 minutes afterwards, we heard a gunshot EXTREMELY close to us. This is what made us suspicious and we felt completely unsafe. For those two reasons im leaving a 2 star review just to warn others who decide to visit. Im not sure what we experienced that day but i dont want to come back simply because of that. I hope im wrong and hunting is allowed and all that happened was an animal was being hunted. But i dont want to go back to find out or not.

This is a nice little gem here in central Florida that's a must visit if you're looking for beautiful peaceful scenery and surroundings and some good hiking. Trail markers are well positioned and visible on the trails. There weren't any maps on the trailhead so we took a picture of the map posted on the information board. Make sure to bring water and maybe a snack if you plan to do most or all of the 6 miles of it. When we went the bridge from the Blue trail loop was not open due to some damage. Keep your eyes out to spot Split Oak as it's off the main trail.

Was very beautiful. Saw a lot of animals after 4 pm. Lots if trails to explore. I only wish there were bathrooms near the parking area and an occasional bench to sit on.

I have done this trail 4-5 times now. I absolutely love this place, I've seen many animals, gopher turtles, snakes, armadillo, etc. There is a wildlife refuge down the road from these trails and they release wildlife into the forest for these trails.

Great little nature trail with lots to see. You've gotta do it by foot and the split oak is on the far northern side so it's a bit of a hike but if you're up for it, I highly recommend it for the peacefulness.

Ok hiking, lil sunny in spots, generally dry. Wish they would fix the boardwalk on the lake. Wildlife is hit or miss, go early or on days when nobody else would.

This place doesn't appear to exist anymore. They are destroying the whole area with housing. Very ugly housing at that. Very depressing. Wasted 45 minutes getting here just to find it fenced off. GPS was trying to lead me to a non existent road. I ended up walking around the developments. Cardboard cookie cutter houses. Destroying nature for low quality homes is not cool.
