Great local with a good range of regular and craft beers, wines and spirits. The tiki cabana was a great spot for our private party and the food was fantastic - the grazing board kept us going for hours and the bakers platter, with a selection of pies, quiches and awesome pork sausage rolls was just what we needed. Highly recommend this venue for parties, local sessions or just a cheeky drink.

We had a 40th birthday here on Saturday for lunch. We had such a great time. The food was amazing - massive compliments to the chef! Chilled vibes, great staff, will definitely have more events here.

We had our wedding party in the Bora Bora room and it was an amazing day! Phenomenal service & food on the day, and working with Remy in the lead up made everything a breeze!

I had a birthday party at the Tiki area of the hotel which made my afternoon very nice and special. All my guests mentioned I’ve chosen a nice and kids friendly spot. Even though catering and service wasn’t the way I expected on the day, the owners and staff of this hotel really care about their customers and will do their best to look after them.

The burger was ok, the salt and pepper squid smelled a little iffy, the fish and chips was ok. The chilli crab pasta… seriously didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. It was inedible!!! $130 down the drain, with the mostly uneaten meal. Will not be back… EVER!

Just wanted to thank you guys for everything on Saturday. Such a fantastic venue, so accommodating and professional. I have held events at several venues and have by far had the best experience at The Balmain. Everyone was wrapped. Was able to drop off cake and balloons during the day, play my own music and was updated regularly on the bar tab. Great food - great atmoshphere.

The fried chicken there is so amazing. Such a good menu! You can get 1kg of all the flavours for $30! Such a hit! They do gender bender bingo on Wednesday nights too which is so fun! Great outdoor beer garden too. Really good local, would recommend to everyone.

Don’t book your function here! We were finally looking forward to celebrating the birth of our baby having not been able to have a baby shower due to COVID. We booked The Balmain seven weeks ago (the week she was born) and secured a specific area for our party of 15. When we arrived, the area we booked was occupied. We searched for our booking and found two very dirty small tables that would (at a squeeze) fit 7 people, in the main thoroughfare between inside and outside. The waitress admitted our party couldn’t fit there and put some tables together in the front bar. As our party was for a newborn baby the front bar was way too noisy. Thankfully we were able to secure a better space with the Bald Rock when we called and told them what had happened. I couldn’t recommend The Bald Rock more. It’s great to see pubs busy again. But you need to look after your booked functions. I would never trust The Balmain ever again.

Nice dog friendly hotel! We alway come here! Very nice atmosphere, HOWEVER, I couldn’t give them 5 star because second time we came here and it is full of kids, like going to a kindergarten! We came for a nice quiet Sunday with their very nice live music, but kids all over the place and noisy! I would give them 1 star if I didn’t like the place! Kids claiming the trees, jumping off the stairs and screaming ????!!!! So annoying!

We had the most tasteless Poke bowl we have ever tasted. The pickled veggies were either pickled in water! (Or left in water?) or washed and had all its flavour stripped, zero seasoning and incredibly tasteless. Sent back for a second try and exactly the same result. Fish burger was incredibly hot in the middle and not on the outside which is always a sign of lazy cooking for me. Zero taste and zero rating if there was one.

What a great pub on the Balmain Peninsula, it still has that friendly locals feel! It has a great beer garden with live music on weekends. Staff are very friendly and they have a great menu with pub classics to modern Asian. The pub is dog friendly with a gourmet dog menu available. On Friday afternoons they have a free sausage sizzle with a selection of sausages!

The front bar if the Balmain is a fair dinkum front bar. Tiles on the wall, friendly and efficient staff, cold beer, good atmosphere. The food is fine, and the beer garden is a great place to sit on a sunny day and drink the day away. No hesitation in giving 5 stars.

We held our baby shower here and it was great! Remy the functions manager was friendly and easy to deal with to organise everything and the food was sensational!

Good little pub tucked away at the bottom of Balmain. Nice cocktails. The food was pretty decent. The outdoor area is perfect for those warmer sunny days! Super dog friendly, they even have meals you can buy for your dog!

Nice pub

We were in a large group here on a Friday night enjoying a friend's birthday and what a nice surprise it was. A great range of craft beers, wine and cocktails were on offer. In the food department we enjoyed the classic buffalo chicken wings which were cooked perfectly, moist inside & crispy on the outside with a hint of spice and perfect blue cheese ranch sauce on the side. For our mains we shared the garlic prawn & chorizo pizza and the typhoon shelter crab spaghettini. The pizza was delicious with a light crispy base that packed a real flavour punch, the prawn & chorizo were plentiful. The winner on the night was the crab spaghettini which was loaded with crab meat, perfectly seasoned with prawn oil, chilli & a yummy crispy garlic crumb. It was a perfect combination & was simply delicious. A few of our friends tried the steak and chicken burger which were apparently excellent too. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and the fast efficient service despite being a busy Friday night & can't wait to go back.

Had our work christmas party at the pub ,the staff was so rude and arrogant , they were not welcoming at all .The guy at the front bar was the most rudest and gave us the disgust and anger look. The place looked nice but please work on your staff's attitude .

Had a pleasant lunch at the Balmain hotel last weekend. The food was tasty and staff friendly. I was very happy that they allowed our dog to sit inside as the weather was not the best ☺️ The only small issue was that dogs are only allowed in the back pub area and not the main restaurant, which is fine, except the tables in the pub part are not very comfortable. If there were some normal tables and chairs instead of just high tops and bar stools I probably would have stayed there all afternoon!

Such a lovely local pub! We like the staff and vibe there - feel like it’s a friendly and accommodating place. My only suggestion is that whilst COVID is ongoing, please make sure you regularly wipe down the baby change table as that was quiet dirty a few times. Other than that keep up the awesome vibe

Nice pub, doggy friendly. Gets very busy and bar is small but not too long to get a drink. Food is great. Fantastic outdoor area, especially in summer. Good space for functions or parties.

Standard suburb pub. Rustic outdoor seating. Plenty of different areas and rooms for seating, pool table live music. Steak and burgers were fair, tap selection was standard

Poor service, kitchen order denied at 9:01, then order from uber eats denied at 9:14, felt like I was being rude to the staff. Terrible experience.

Support your local business they said.. trying to order food at 9pm when kitchen closes at 9pm. Also been denied to get food delivered. Poor customer service in these hard times. It's sad

Great old pub in Balmain. If possible go enjoy the great Jazz on Sunday's, it's free. The food is also very acceptable.

Chock a bloc full of Balmainites . The bar food is not too bad . Well worth a visit.
