I loved this park for my puppy, until he fell into the canal next to the park! Not a safe spot for my dog and extremely disappointed to see the other side of the canal has fencing but not on the dog side part. Doesn’t every dog park have fencing around the whole area??? Baffles me to think there is none considering the sewage directly next to the park. Not very pleasant or safe jumping into that to save your dog. I will be back here when a fence goes up! Absolutely ridiculous

Can’t afford a dog so I came here to pet someone else’s dog. Nice place and friendly dogs.

Hawthorne is a lovely dog park, mostly responsible owners and well adjusted dogs, Cafe Bones is a welcome addition, but for the dogs alone it's fenced in, plenty of running space, toilets plenty of bins and a tram station just out the front

Nice park, LOADS of dogs on the weekends with the normal crowd and then several dog training classes on top. If you are looking for a quiet park to train or play with a new dog. Weekends are not the right time. It's sensory overload. Weekdays are good though. Its got a nice but simple cafe that is a perk if you need a pick me up.

Park is great for dog leashed or unleashed. There is a very friendly atmosphere among dog owners. Instructors are good caring people also. And you can get a coffee.

Nice park for dogs to play and 'bark' but some of the locals are aweful and have a go at you if your dogs bark or chases their dog. Very political park

Fenced, lots of room to run, scenic, cafe, puppacinos... what more does a doggy need?

Great dog park, very pretty on a sunny day. Lots of space and a cafe with a surprisingly half decent range (usually cafes in locations like this don't try very hard because they have the monopoly but this one has dog cupcakes!) Good mix of dogs too.

Good place to bring your floofs but the grass could be more well maintained πŸ˜…

Lovely local dog park with a bay adjacent. Go for a cycle, walk, run or sit! Plenty of pups and doggo's as well as a cafe and places to have a picnic! Also great sunrise and sunset location!

Have only recently discovered this park and it is fantastic! Having the canal as a barrier makes it feel so much more open and all the other owners/dogs were very friendly. The cafe does a good coffee and cookie and also has treats for the dogs as well! Will be coming back here again soon

Elongated park with a man-made water canal cutting through it with a bridge connecting both sides... on one side there's a play area and a basketball court; the other side is a massive dog park with a pet-friendly cafe at the other end... positives: lots of space, adjacent to the metro station (Hawthorne), seats, shade, food & toilets available. negatives: no fence on the canal side so if your dog decides to go for a swim the current could sweep him away... after rain there are puddles so prepare for muddy dog syndrome; the cafe end is not fenced and the area is big so keep your dog in sight.
