Han and Tomoko are amazing hairdressers and I have been going to them for the past 3 years. This awesome couple never disappoints and consistently delivers at a high standard. Their new location is super handy and the environment is modern and pleasant. With my recommendations many of my friends and family are also their clients.

I just came for a second time, as my first experience was good. Han is lovely, but has been late both times. This wasn’t an issue for me, as I had free time, but it made the rest of the haircut feel rushed, especially when a second customer walked in. There was also no hair wash or styling, even though I booked this and asked in advance. Be aware of this, as this happened at my last experience too. Maybe the website needs to be updated… Unfortunately, I asked for face framing and got left with incredibly lopsided, short curtain bangs (!!!), which I had to go elsewhere to get fixed/blended in to my hair. There was no cross checking length or anything, and they are at least an inch different in length. Very upset, as I asked for no shorter than my jaw, and they’re up to my cheekbones… I have curly hair too, which makes them appear even shorter. The salon might be good if you have coarse hair or if you’re after chemical treatment, but for fine, curly, European hair, I’d go elsewhere. Very disappointing. Update: the salon did offer to fix my hair, which was appreciated (thank you). Unfortunately, I have lost some trust in the salon, and there is not much you can do for hair that has been cut too short other than let it grow!

The owner/ stylist is really cool and helpful with consultations, and also very open minded so you can really get creative if you like. It is the most reasonably priced salon I found after days of research around Auckland CBD. The service is optimum and conversations engaging, so you're sure to have a great experience. It is a quaint little salon built with all heart and that reflects when you visit the place. I got hair color and hair cut and it all turned out really well. I had booked an appointment which ensured my time was kept in mind and that really enhanced my experience here, so I suggest you book your slot in advance through their website.

Really great place! Easy to book online. Showed them a picture and got exactly what I wanted and he even styled my hair really well. I love my new haircut!

My son's first time visiting a salon. He's always had his hair cut at the barbershop. Since his hair was longer than usual after lockdown he wanted to try out a salon. Han was awesome. Cut his hair exactly as he asked. My son was so impressed (even if he didn't show it ha). Thanks so much and he says he'll be back for sure.

After driving past Gaya numerous times, today I decided to try them out. Pleased to say I left very satisfied. They delivered the haircut I wanted after showing them a photo. Han is very skilled with the scissors and took his time to ensure the haircut was to my liking. It is reasonably priced and includes a hair wash. I will return here for my next haircut. Thank you. I knew Han almost two years, he is the only hair stylist I ever used since he has done my first hair cut. He designs your hair style and gives you suggestions, as well as respects your own opinion in order to make a perfect result. Great experience, especially in the new hair studio, he even designed and DIY most of the furniture and features for the studio, so you can see he is a real designer!
