An amazing beach with plenty of parking, picnic space with free BBQ's and kids activities. It's an amazing beach for swimming and water activities. Beach is dog friendly and being a long beach there's a plenty of room for everyone to have their quiet private space. People are extremely friendly and nice to each other.

I love this place for walking and picnics. People walk their dogs on the beach, but the park area does not allow dogs Barbecue areas toilets etc buy you have to take your rubbish. Big spaces for kids to play, including a playground and zip line

Quiet and tranquil early in the morning. World class beach walking on our (NZ) back door. So easy to take this beautiful country for granted.

Always lots of space to set up for the day, and lots of parking - though it pays to get there earlier for the closer parking spots. The beach is safe for the youngens but also has some waves and deeper spots for the older ones. Awesome playground + lots of trees to climb. Great place all round!

Nice beach, plenty of space and looks reasonably safe for swimming. Large picnic area with bbq’s and lots of parking. Pleasant walk to Granny’s Bay and walk back via 100 Acre track. The rest of the track was closed due to recent cyclone.

Great place for a short getaway picnic. There are two cafe just before entering the park. One is always too busy and the other is quieter. I’ve been to both - equally nice.

Many years since I was last here but still great. Has camping sites, though all seemed empty. Beautiful place for a swim mid week, highly recommend. Plenty of parking, changing rooms/toilet block on site. Dated but useable and reasonably clean. Does have a lifeguard post, though no one on during this visit.

We went around 4pm on a Sunday and it was absolutely packed, we luckily found a car park. Besides that it's a great beach for a quick visit and swim or spend the whole day with a gazebo on the grass. There are multiple toilet facilities here which is great and showers to rinse off. Life guards are on duty too. There is a lot of grass space so it's a good beach for large groups. There are also council BBQ you can book and use as well.

Lots of dogs, and dog friendly people.. not very well sign-posted though.. and being new to the area, with no real idea of where we may take our pooch (the brochure talks about southern carpark etc., but no actual wayfinding) we turned around and left.

Lovely area. Playground and flying fox for the little ones. Parking fills up early. Toilets and changing room available. Sand and moderate strength waves when we visited. Photo framed area for family pics. Large tree shade and grass area for family picnic setup.

Long Bay Regional Park is the place to go on a very good summer day. It has plenty of covered picnic area but you should come early as it is first come first serve. You can always set up your gazebo in designated places. Plenty of toilet and parking. They also have a playground. Just a reminder to bring a rubbish bag and take your rubbish home. It can get very busy in the summer and can get too crowded. One of the nice beaches for swimming and they have lifeguards. I love having picnic here.

Been coming here for decades. Can be very busy, hard to find a car park, hard to get space under a shelter, but it never disappoints with its beauty.Stayed the night in a Campervan, a great system for those looking to overnight camp in CSC vehicles. Cost me $18 to stay the night.

This is literally my favourite regional park in Auckland. The beach is quite big, so you always have a lot of space even when there is lots of people. Lots of parking, great walks, playground and bbq facilities. The surf is very chill and perfect for stand up paddle boarding.

What a gem! I regularly come to Long Bay regularly to go out for a walk and to spend time with God. It is a perfect place to get in some exercise and to communicate with the maker of Heaven and Earth. Highly recommended...

Taking in the forest air, the blue sky, and the beach is truly serene. A Sunday stroll in the park, basking in the golden sunshine amid lush greenery and blue skies, is a superb experience!

Love walking the dogs here. Make sure they're under you control though as there are several folk (as on many other beaches and reserves) who can't control their dogs!

Always pleasant to go out to Long Bay Regional Park. So nice to use the shade cover when doing picnics and the space allows for so many people to be out and about and never feel crowded. Our kids love the playground and the facilities are usually very well kept. Parking is reasonable and the long stretch of beach is beautiful. Recommended for a day out with the family or even a large group of friends and family.

Fantastic place to take a walk, jog, and run! Obviously, the beach is right there, so a swim too. Loads of parking space. Not pet friendly in some areas. Accessibility- pram, wheelchair, etc. Friendly. Do take into consideration that the nature walk has steps that might affect your outing. Lots of birdlife in the area.

Park is lovely right by the beach. If you are in a camper and certified self contained you can stay for 16 per night. Could do with bigger signage for camp area but once found was all good. There is nothing to say where in the south carpark to stay but ranger indicated anywhere was fine.

Howdy all, Brilliant beach, pristine environment and plenty of open areas for walking the dog or enjoying the ocean! You can go off leash on the beach and I've added plenty of signs about what you can & cannot do here. We had no issues finding free parking and the experience as a whole was a memorable one so make sure you check it out if you are around. Pn. the sound of the ocean was one of the most serene sensory experiences I've had in a while... I'll upload a video for you to enjoy as well.

I love to swim and this is a lovely spot for it. The water is nice and clear the greenery is pleasing to the eye, and depending on where the winds are coming from you might be sheltered from the splashing waves if you are in for a calms swim. One thing I’d love is a shower in the changing facilities. They have that in takapuna beach but no where else in auckland. Don’t know why

I recently visited Long Bay Regional Park and had a great time. The weather was lovely, and there was plenty of space on the beach to enjoy. Unfortunately, the park was quite crowded, making it difficult to find parking. Despite this, I had a lot of fun body boarding in the waves. It was also a great place to have a picnic or read a book. All in all, I would recommend Long Bay Regional Park for a fun day out.

A place you come with family to BBQ in the park behind or just enjoy good moments.

  • 5/5 Petra C. 1 year ago on Google
Very beautiful place where to spend a sunny day with family and enjoy games and food. There are facilities including toilets and running water and BBQ. The beach gives you great view on the city of Auckland in the distance. Saw a little trash on the occasion but I asume it is up to everyone who visits. That didn't take anything of its beauty, besides if endangered birds can nest there happily, sure it is good enough for humans. Well worth visiting.

One of our favorite beach to go! This is about 30min drive from our house, lots of space for kids to play, big playground, good amenities, many trees and quite many parking spaces available on a Saturday morning. Favorite for families for a day camp, picnic and swim.

Nice park, beautiful walkable beach, no bugs, and clean bathrooms. We stayed one night. It was quiet with a great view of Coramandel and Great Barrier Island. Close to places to find a meal if you can't cook. No rubbish bins so use "no trace" practices. Suitable for families with small children but no dogs allowed.

  • 5/5 Adam B. 1 year ago on Google
Slightly biased because we live close to Long Bay but I love this place!! Great beach of course, but awesome walks too and plenty of grass space. So fortunate to have parks like this that are easy to access. Just wish everyone would share with care, and take their rubbish with them.

Long Bay Regional Park has the best beaches in Auckland. The extensive picnic grounds are lush and green all year around and have clean bathrooms and BBQ facilities available to the public, and it always attracts a crowd, no wonder. In addition to the awesome beaches, the regional park has well-maintained walking tracks along the cliff-tops with stunning views to the Hauraki Gulf, including Rangitoto, Tiritiri Matangi, Gulf Harbour, and Coromandel.
