There wasn't much going on . However the civic building is now being sold of as apartments and its looking the best it's ever . Just wondering why we didn't get to choose what happened to our building. I thought tax payers owned it and now it's being sold of provetky. It also stated that there was no problem with overseas investors owning a apartment. That there was no need to have nz citizenship to aquire one . So therye up for grabs to anyone from any country .

It's a busy place next to the main road in the city ( Queen street). The square is right on the subway station, the bus stop beside. There are many convenience stores, food and drink shops nearby. This place have activities in the winter. In all seasons the pigeons and seagulls are always here. They are not dangerous but be careful when you have food in hand.

A public place being well used. The skateboarders were having fun, as they do, and the benches on the grassed areas were lovely shaded areas to take in the area.

Aotea Square in Auckland is a vibrant and dynamic public space that captures the essence of the city. With its central location, it serves as a hub for cultural events, live performances, and community gatherings. The well-maintained square offers a delightful atmosphere and is a must-visit destination in Auckland.

Outdoor skating rink, Matariki Festival singers and dancers, and a Matariki market in the Town Hall. Plus food trucks. Great place to be today!

Beautiful large clean venue. Had no trouble getting in with my bag and was not searched which makes a nice change. Friendly staff. The only thing was some of the fancy taps in the ladies bathroom weren't working.

I always love Aotea Square - there is always something going on, and the space is clean and inviting. In saying that, there was an art installation the last time I was there. A giant tv screen showing long clips of people interacting with VR or dancing to music in their head phones - only you can't see/hear what they can, so you can only see their movement, hear their movement/reaction/effort. I happened to be there during a 20min clip of a dancer doing a routine - unfortunately all you could hear was grunting/heavy breathing which gave plenty of people pause, and made it a little awkward to be there.

It’s a nice place. Visited the place during the BNZ Diwali Fest. The place was nicely done, organised. Dance performances, instruments playing, there are food stalls. Definitely recommended.

Great place to go and sit and have lunch. It's also worth checking out if there is some event happening as there often is. Usually they have a winter wonderland with, great for adults and children. There's cafes and restaurants a around and each access to Queen street and public transport.

Family outing to Aotea Square in their winter Ice skating rink. Kids and adults alike thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They need more frames for the beginners and probably more staff in the busy season as they looked like headless chooks, but did very well to keep their calm and continue serving customers as they walked in. Highly recommend for children and adults.

Great spot. Love the art installations. The creek bed poem and the rainbow maker were great. Empty on a rainy Sunday afternoon but worth the visit!

A central place for cultural shows, indoor and outdoor. Famous for many events, like the annual Diwali Festival.

I'm still trying to figure out how to actually say it. Either way, I like it a lot. A very clean area, with a contemporary aesthetic. Lots of things to do, there's usually something happening in the center. All sorts of great coffee nearby! I wish there were a place like this in my city. Just be mindful at night, sometimes there are crazy homeless people wandering about. They're entertaining but only a bit.

A mid-city open space and theatres, lots of different free and paid performances, incl. a group of Koreans protesting their own government. The whole place is clean and well organized.

Went to Town Hall to listen to NZSO- which was excellent. But getting out of carpark underneath Aotea Square was a nightmare. Took about 45 minutes to navigate to exit gates. Best advised to go and have a drink after a show rather than fighting traffic.
