The school is 98% semi westernized (<5yrs in Canada) Asian youngsters. I say youngsters because there's no way to tell their age...you'll be hard-pressed to distinguish between a 23yr old recent immigrant plucked and placed into grade 11 and another grade 11 student that has been fed to A.Y by a local junior high. These youngsters are the ones taking up parking space with each of them having a car or their own because they convinced their upper middle class father back home that one cannot get ahead (forget surviving) without one I know they say multiculturalism is a ‘Feature’, but I’d argue that one dominant language and culture mixed with a small numbers of others, does NOT a multicultural school make. Just because that dominant race/culture happens to not be white doesn’t make it anymore friendlier or welcoming than had it been an all white school (which I’m sure it was 18yrs+ ago)

It was a very good school, I had to go virtually in my grade 9 class and everything went fairly smoothly. Though when I went into grade 10 everything went downhill. As a virtual student I do not feel included at all. The teachers always keep on ignoring the virtual class in favor of only assisting the in person kids. There were a couple of instances were teachers wouldn't even try to connect with the virtual class! They would not provide any meeting links or assign any work. The guidance counselors also completely ignore the students, nobody really cares for you unless either your guardian calls in or you go in-person. I really hope that the school makes adjustments for the virtual learners because it's just absurd at this point. - Student at AY Jackson Secondary School

Although I have never been at this school, I still think it is a great school (grade 9-12) as I visited it many times. The teachers all seem nice and helpful and most of the students are good. A Y Jackson SS has a wonderful music program with limitless possibilities. It also has a big double gym, a huge cafeteria/stage and a 25m swimming pool. It also have a soccer field with tracks around it. I also like the spiral staircase close to the entrance.

There are some teachers who are really good, but there are also others who are terrible. I encountered in particular a math teacher who just give you your work and make you do it without any lessons. This was grade 10 math. It is because I've encounter good teachers prior to that bad teacher that I've not giving this place a one star review.

I was a student here for grade 10 and 11 and all I can say is that is the best school I have ever been in my life! Everything is usually clean, the teachers are great, the students respect each other, etc. Everyone in this school is helpful and always welcome you regardless of your background.

I didnt attend this school but I had nassir nasrin during the 2020-21 school year when the quadmester system was set in place. He was teaching functions. He was extremely rude to students, lost peoples tests, skipped several units, added stuff on tests that he never discussed in lectures. He always tried to claim he had no idea how to use a computer and students tried helping him several times during class, never checked the chat or even consider the fact students mics did not work, barely communicates with students or even provided homework or even consider checking and marking homework. overall the worst teacher i had ever had during the quadmester system. he would also leave 20 minutes during class and never come back.i have no idea why he hasnt even consider retiring yet. everyone has complained and struggled so badly in this course. during that time the tdsb just hired anyone without considering giving paid leave or even consider the future of students. honestly his whole class was a mess.

🫤 Would be a 5 but my french teacher was Madame Gauvin. I wrote this back in grade 9 when I was naive and foolish. I have since then had the pleasure of having Ms. Zheng as my Comp Sci teacher and my review is therefore going down.
