I had a fantastic dining experience at Michi Sushi in North York! On a bustling Saturday evening around 6 PM, the patio was half full with plenty of reservations. I ordered chirashi and a Bento box platter, and both dishes were delightful—the fish was incredibly fresh and delicious. Additionally, I must mention that the presentation of the food was exceptional. Each dish was beautifully arranged and garnished, adding an extra touch of elegance to the dining experience. It not only tasted delightful but looked like a work of art on the plate. The attention to detail in their food presentation truly elevated the overall dining experience, making it even more memorable. The service was outstanding; our waitress regularly checked in on us, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Despite the only drawback of the parking situation—we had to park on the street a few steps away since they don't have their own parking—the overall experience was exceptional. With such delicious food, attentive service, and impressive food presentation, we'll definitely be returning to this restaurant again!

I was in the neighborhood and found out about this place through Google reviews, so first of all thanks to the other reviewers! I was in for a very pleasant surprise: staff were incredibly friendly (10/10), customer service was excellent despite a bit of wait (10/10), and the food was incredibly delicious! Special shout out to the salmon sushi. The restaurant was great and gave us some appetizers on the house such as the edamame and the octopus! For the main course, I had the "Orange-ville" signature roll and the Yaki udon. The roll was one of the best I've ever had!! Every ingredient could be tasted and it was fresh and delicious. I hope the pictures give you a size of the roll, it is large and is definitely filling. Udon (seafood) tasted classic. I look forward to coming back again to try the other rolls! As a Google Level 8 reviewer, I regularly enjoyed writing reviews. If you want me to write more reviews about other menu items it would be a delight. IG: @sojourningmd

Fish was fresh, spicy salmon rolls were good and the takoyaki was bomb! Service was good, we waited quite long for our food but they kept giving us free stuff on the house (edamame, sushi rolls, takoyaki) so we were kept satisfied throughout the whole waiting process. We didn’t mind waiting as we understood the large volume of takeout orders on the weekend and they explained to us that they were trying their best. They were so nice to us! We felt taken care of! :) Overall, I can see why this place has a 4.7 rating. Definitely would recommend! Would come back for the tempura!

Not sure why this place is rated so high. The sushi is pretty rough. Uni was ordered, but was more off than usual. Rice was extremely poorly seasoned, to the point of being sweet. Made it really sickly to eat. In some of the spicy Maki rolls, I found a scale. That was really not good at all. Finally, there was a tuna piece I had which was basically two thin slices overlapped on each other For the price and such, you would expect better quality, but this is really below average for Toronto.

One of the most delicious sushi I ever had!!! Very fresh, beautifully made, not greasy and not too much rice in rolls. We tried Kalbi, red dragon and beef tataki. It is a small but very nice restaurant and has become my go to sushi place for sure!!!

Some of the best sushi I have ever had. The beef sashimi was so yummy. I would definitely come here again. The staff was amazing....even got some free extras as we our order was taking a bit long because of how busy the place was.

Cute little sushi shop located in North York - parking is very limited. Came across this place on Instagram and went to check it out with friends because we love sushi. Tried the “call 911” sushi dish which was pretty cool. Service was great and staffs were really sweet. They don’t have AYCE, so I would recommend ordering bunch of different sushi rolls and share. Wish they had more dessert options. Overall, their sushi was great!

Michi Sushi is one of my favourite go-tos for my sushi cravings in North York neighborhood. It is tucked away on Willowdale Avenue (beside Paisano). Very causal, rustic atmosphere, and the staff and chef are friendly. Their fishes and seafood are always fresh; we enjoy ordering the sashimi omakase, aka chef's choice, and they serve uni! I used to always order this flaming sushi roll where they lit the roll literally in flames in front of you (didn't see it on the menu this time). The cold soba was also delicious; I love my soba with lots of wasabi ^^ It was very thoughtful of the staff to give the two of us one bowl each of broth with ice cubes for dipping the soba :) Overall, we always enjoy our time at Michi Sushi. We will definitely visit again soon :)

came with a group of 5 while they were short staffed so we had a lot ordered. though it didn't feel like a long time, the chefs and staff were kind enough to apologize for the wait and give us a plate of takoyaki and a large salmon roll on the house. not only was the service lovely, the sushi was incredibly fresh and the rolls were massive. every roll we ordered was delicious and you can tell they use high quality fish. after splitting the bill, each person paid a little over $30 after tax and tip for a wonderful meal. definitely recommend and will come back here again! shoutout to the chefs/waiter & waitress that helped our table yesterday! :)

High quality sushi and simple service for an omakase style sashimi platter. Price was high for this item and it was not delivered as an incremental experience, and so the experience was considerably lessened but the fish was very fresh. High quality ingredients and a cheerful Japanese-style atmosphere make for a worthy visit.

I came here on a Friday night as a group of 7. The place was very busy - basically full when we first entered, and so busy throughout that they had to decline a group/told them there would be quite the wait considering no one was about to leave and a couple reservations were set for later in the night. The place itself didn't look that big at a glance, and in terms of cleanliness, the seating areas and tables were clean but you could note the dust/small spider webs near the vents. Overall, this is a pricier sushi spot but I definitely appreciated the quality of the food. I ordered the SUSHI DINNER DELUXE which included 12 pcs of sushi plus either 6 tempura rolls or 6 spicy salmon rolls, and I chose the spicy salmon rolls as they're my favorite! They were so good, really spicy, which I love. The assortment of sushi was quite nice including salmon, tuna, shrimp, BBQ eel, calamari, and truthfully, some others that I can't distinguish just by look/taste if you don't tell me what they are. However, despite not usually being adventurous with all types of raw seafood, I must say everything was very fresh and nothing had a "fishy" odor to it! I should also mention that my meal came with a miso soup and salad, which everyone got as well, minus the one person at our table who ordered a specialist roll for their dish. Service was fair but I didn't feel it was the most friendly. Sometimes I felt like our server was a little impatient with us/looked like she didn't want to be there. Fun fact: 10% discount when you pay with cash! Candies included upon payment (never had that kind before but they were really good fruity taffy type candies).

I’ve ordered Sashimi dinner deluxe and Spicy assorted roll last night. It was a bit expensive, but if I compare to the other places, I can say the freshness and quality of the sashimi was great :-)

Pricing is a bit on the higher end for casual sushi, however everything was fresh and tasted great. The Orangeville roll (not pictured) was better than expected and would recommend as a must try. The staff were super friendly and service was excellent.

Super friendly staffs. Portion is very generous. Fish is fresh and the price is not cheap compare to what you are getting. Presentation of each dish is wonderful and I will visit this place again if I am in the area.

This restaurant is very nice and cozy, people are quite friendly. And it feels like a Izakaya, but it’s a Sushi house. it’s quite comfortable. Oh, we ordered the Omakase, the beef sashimi, and also one dancing eel roll. The presentation of all the food looks very pretty but the food (fish) doesn’t taste as good as it looks unfortunately. And also the wasabi used is not the same quality that I liked from places like Zen or Cho San Sushi. This place is not super expensive but it’s not cheap either. I mean it’s not a bad place, but has nothing good enough that will stick in my mind though, at least from the dishes we tried today. I wouldn’t purposely make the trip to visit this place but if I am in the area already , I probably may visit again

Went to Michi Sushi for dinner on a Saturday. We ordered the Orangeville roll, Crazy Boy roll, and Salmon Avocado roll. The prices were slightly above average but it was justified as they put a lot of effort into presentation and use the freshest ingredients. The waiters were also very friendly and checked on us often. The space is small so I would recommend making a reservation for larger groups.

It has good atmosphere and decent service. But the rice was way too sweet I couldn't even savor the fish also the rice was not soft. It wasn't undercooked but still felt a bit hard. And it would be good to simply inform what kind of fish you just served when you give customers their plate. I might be a little dramatic on this places' review as they have omakase on their menu and had my expectations high. I really liked that they had roe on the roll.

Came here for dinner by my partner's recommendation. Ordered my Kaisendon and it was so good. A lot of variations of the sashimi on top of the rice. All fresh. A portion of Kaisendon is actually enough to fill your stomach. The gyoza was okay. I was still hungry so i ordered Salmon Lover roll. I thought it was in small pieces but it turned out... big. Overall, good food, good experience, friendly staffs. Love it!

I had been here 2 weeks before with my friends for the first time. We all felt that this was one of the best sushi places we've ever been to. The portion size was huge and it was so delicious. Everything tasted super fresh and there was a great vibe to dine in there.

Tried this restaurant for dinner as I was in this area for an appointment based on all the raving reviews on Google. The restaurant is quite nice and clean. There was only one wait staff but it was not busy on a Monday evening so there was not a lot of waiting. Ordered the tempura "Bento" (didn't come in a Bento box just separate dish/bowl as pictured) and the "Deluxe sashimi" based on the wait staff recommendation ("you get much better fish compared to the regular"). Well, the tempura was okay. So was the sashimi - nothing special or much better pieces. Pretty standard stuff and I would say bit pricey for what you get.

Cute little place. The rolls are a nice variety. The have large size ones and small regular ones. In the winter it’s a bit cold of a space.

We went there around 1:30pm on Sunday. Not packed, didn’t have to wait. We ordered tempura, which was very good, crispy and the size of the vege were huge! My friend had Unadon (grilled eel) and I had sushi regular combo. The sushi were great, seafood was fresh and nicely cut. I would say it was one of the restaurants serving food close to authentic Japanese sushi. The decorations of the restaurant were nice, but not very spacious.

Whilst looking for some sushi, i decided to venture out of the classic yonge street and found this jem on willowdale. The fish was very fresh and had lots of varieties of fish compared to other sushi restaurants. I was superised as a chef that the chefs were able to maintain the level of freshness and having a variety of fish. While maintaining the traditions of japanese cusine, the signature rolls was a nicely welcome for the western taste of sushi. I highly enjoyed the spicy michi udon, which at start had the taste of jjamppong and ended with the classic udon taste. I highly recommend venturing out of yonge street to try out this spot.

Truly a hidden gem. Unassuming because of its tucked away location, this sushi spot was a fantastic experience all around. The staff was extremely friendly and service was quick. The food was truly delicious and the presentation was spot on as well. Limited spots here but because of it, it gives it a very cozy vibe with "soul" which can be hard to come by nowadays. Would highly recommend to anyone that is in the area. I look forward to going back again.

My rating is 4.5 stars rounded up. The food here is fantastic. Each plate is presented well, with detailed ornaments and arrangements. My favourite order was the Gold 888 roll. I generally don't like to order rolls when getting sushi, however, based on photos I could tell they roll their rice thin. Because that, you can actually taste the fillings and the roll itself was flavourful. Overall everything we ordered tasted great. The reason why this is 4.5 is due to smaller portions for the price you pay (which probably pays for the presentation). We also found the sodium level for most dishes to be on the lower side - especially for things you shouldn't dip in soy sauce such as the tempura sauce or karaage. The service was very quick and attentive. It was easy to flag someone down and they always responded positively and would check in just in case they missed something.

What a wonderful gem this place is - we came here as a larger group and they were very accommodating. Every single thing we ordered was fresh, delicious and you could just tell it was made with great quality ingredients. The tempura was light and crisp, the fish was fresh, and the rolls were delicious, among many other things we ordered. The staff were really friendly and provided great service - we'll definitely be returning here.

Amazing place, staff and food! My girl friend and I had ordered a lot of food knowing it will be a lot for two tiny girls. We managed very well and the friendly staff even gave us extra pieces on the Omakase sashimi as well as a beef tataki on the house at around 9:40pm and the restaurant closes at 9:30pm. Obviously they didn't rush us at all and let us enjoy our stay until 10:30pm. It certainly won't be our last time.

Sushi with excellent fish to rice ratios. Solid soup and salad to go with your combo meal, and topped up with some nice tea. They added sesame in their tuna roll, which to be honest, I’d prefer to taste the tuna as the sesame is quite overpowering. But everything else was delicious. The Orangeville sushi (essentially a jacked up spicy salmon roll) was a surprise hit. Hard to reach but don’t miss this spot!

I started visiting this place since it was called another name. Regardless of the name/ownership change, the food quality here has been great. The lunch I had here this weekend was actually the first patio meal we've had this year. The two rolls we ordered - Dancing Eel and Crazy Girl - were yum. I personally prefer the Crazy Girl as it has a richer flavour and of course, lobster in it. The Chiken Karaage and Gyoza were amazing too. Chicken wasn't greasy. Their signature rolls are actually pretty big. So if it's two of you planning to get sushi and snacks, one roll should be big enough :) Definitely recommend.

An absolute gem on a quiet side street. Wonderful service, beautifully presented dishes that are super fresh and flavorful. It is a great place for an enjoyable meal. Love it!

  • 5/5 Romie 2 years ago on Google
Very nice, cozy interior and food was great. Wasn’t so hungry so we only ordered two signature rolls and miso soup, and we were full. 911 roll was a good show, but if you don’t like the hot banana pepper (there is a slight sourness) I do not recommend it. Overall seems like their roll doesn’t use too much sauce and I know they are confident in freshness of food when there’s less sauce. Would recommend and would come back.

One of the best sushi restaurants I've been to in Toronto. We dined at the patio on Sunday and it wasn't too crowded. We saw a lot of people order takeout and pickup. Michi sushi has a lot of premium fish that is hard to find at other sushi places in the city. They ingredients were fresh and the food was delicious. Highly recommended.

Best dining experience I’ve ever had. I probably won’t go anywhere else for sushi from now on. The food was delicious, the ingredients were fresh, every dish was presented so beautifully and the service was wonderful.
