I have been coming to Memories of Japan for almost two decades. The cooking table has always been a great, joyous and fun experience for the kids who never get tired of it and we enjoy it as well. The food is cooked in front of you and it's always tasty and great! The price is half of what you'd pay in downtown area and my family enjoys coming back to this place and we enjoy it. The waiters are friendly and accommodating. We will be coming to Memories of Japan for years and years!

The sushi and sashimi are always good. It’s worth to have the buffet. The service is not that great. Food comes very slow. Order your most favourite plates first as they might come after 45 minutes. I don’t really have anything negative to say about the food as food is good. 2 things to note: if you buy the groupons check to see if you can use it first as it doesn’t apply to everything. Gratuity is always included in the bill so don’t tip them twice.

Eighties decor and music. Food is edible but either too bland or salty. Tempura is mostly batter and mushy. The tepanyaki quality seems to be better than the dining area. Little flies swarm around the tables so cleaniness is an issue. There isn't much customer traffic so freshness is questionable. The staff are all Chinese and will speak in Mandarin or Cantonese to each other. Would not choose to come here. There are many better options for Japanese food in the city.

The food is really good and they put on a nice Tapanyaki show. The servers didn't really play much of an active role though. We kept having to ask for things to get done.

Teppanyaki Ume is a very good full lunch which includes soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, rice, veggies, chicken and steak. A bit of fun entertainment along the way, too! For takeout, I used to like the Katsura Bento (chicken teriyaki). It’s a full meal, with iceberg salad, tuna and cucumber sushi rolls (3 each), chicken, rice, tofu and green tea ice cream. It’s recently become more skimpy, with more rice, and the chicken can be crunchy from being fried. My bigger issue is that if you want the promised tuna rolls (as per menu) instead of salmon you have to remind them when ordering. Really tough to get parking some days, but others you’ll find one right in front!

We came for the teppanyaki and did not leave disappointed. The chef we had put effort in trying to engage the customers and put on some flare in the teppanyaki presentation. The portion size is good and 2 person can share a teppanyaki combo and add a sushi combo and still would be more than enough food. It came out at about $80 including tip and taxes.

Overall food quality and selection is okay. Calamari was lightly battered but a bit greasy. Chicken wings were crispy and tasty. Ramen and udon were mediocre and portions were small. Tartar beef was quite good. The miso soup was very bland as if diluted. The dessert selection was limited and the cups didn’t look very clean. Orders are quite fast and service okay. Would go back using the Groupon coupon.

Pretty good food, nice restaurant. I had a Groupon and visited during lunch time but had to pay for the dinner ayce price in order to use it. Also, the waitress said that 2 drinks are usually included with the Groupon which I thought meant it was free but it was charged on the bill along with a service charge. Good thing I checked otherwise I would've tipped twice.

The restaurant is nicely decorated and very Asian, but the food is average. Servers are professional. Service was slow and confusing as there were three different servers that served us. Dishes could use some more cleaning, it looks and feels grimy. They offer many of the basic AYCE sushi items and nothing out of the ordinary or special. I do like that they have squid/cuttlefish/ika sushi, which only few sushi places offer. There seems to be a lot of short cuts in making their dishes, making the quality of food on the low end.

Quite nice AYCE place. Friendly service. Nice sushi. Could use bigger menu. Food takes longer than normal, I find to arrive, but not unreasonably so. You order with pen and paper still.

Generally liked it. Food was tasty and service is good. It was a bit annoying that not all items in the AYCE menu were on the order sheet. Order sheets are separated into 4 pieces which I also found not very comfortable. At least for me. And they don't have sashimi in Lunch AYCE menu which I never experienced in any other place.
