    I have been a member since winter 2018. I have used their service and have been a loyal member. Recently, I purchased a laptop and I was supposed to receive 130$ cash back from them. And guess what? They closed my account and accused me of "creating multiple accounts, violating their terms, and receiving bonuses or payments from each account as this is considered abuse of our program." I am shocked by such an insulting accusation. I had NEVER had multiple accounts. This service is a scam, and I try my best to inform my friends and community of their insulting, thievish business model. Shame on you!

    Account was closed without a notice. Password reset did not work. Contact them, they said due to abuse of policies, your account was terminated and best if you find another cash back site!!! I did not "abuse" as they say plus still have balance unpaid. Personally, I think you better off finding another website for cash back before you sign up with them and get kicked out.

    Rakuten has been terrible lately. Feels like a scam now. They take the commission and you get nothing. I placed orders on 10% and 12% cashback days. I got the correct cashback, but as it got near my payout date, they just reduced the cashback to 1% and took the money back. I sent an email and it's been 10 days with no reply. I have been using this site from when it was known as Ebates, since 2014, but I won't be using it anymore, once I receive my latest payout.

    When the site was known as ebates, the selection of retailers available for Canadian consumers was pretty good. Over time, many of these retailers were no longer available. Although 'Rakuten' was always stamped on the ebates site, and the transition to rakuten.ca was seamless and unproblematic, the support for the site is not the same. On 2 separate occasions, I did not receive my rebate cheque when I was supposed to, and had to file a claim for a replacement. The strange thing is, that I received the cheques that came after the missing one, and my address did not change, and this keeps happening. Support has not been able to tell me why this happens, or if it will continue to happen. I have lost trust in the site because I don't see much point in shopping through it when my rebate never arrives, and I cannot predict when it will. I am still waiting for a replacement cheque for yet another instance where I did not receive it, no follow up from support and some of the biggest Canadian retailers no longer are eligible for cash back. I have stepped back from using Rakuten and I'm disappointed because it really did make a difference for me when choosing to shop online vs. in store.

    It’s been nearly 30 days since I made a purchase through dell and used this service. The cash back was 14% that day and I was supposed to get over $200. Originally it said I would get the cash back but 2 weeks later it disappeared. I’ve been in touch with both dell and Rakuten. Dell says to contact rakuten and rakuten says they have reached out to dell. Even though I can provide my invoice and there is a tracker number for my purchases, rakuten doesn’t seem to care. I will be using Great Canadian Rebates and recommending to everyone I know to do the same. Very disappointed with how rakuten is handling this even when I can show proof of purchase. Seems to me like rakuten just doesn’t want to make a large payout.

    I've been using Ebates for a few years now. Just recently, they terminated my account with over a hundred dollars just a few weeks before the payment because apparently, they found that I, allegedly, had multiple accounts when they were all referrals from my family and friends. The rep that I dealt with trying to recover my account was clearly a joke. Ebates clearly does not care about their customers since we're helping them make money and they can deactivate our account whenever they please just to not give us the payout that we deserve. I definitely will not recommend Ebates to any of my friends anymore.

    Absolute, worst customer service ever. I made a purchase November 27th and have been getting the run around from Rakuten regarding my cash back. No one has bothered to do anything to address my issue. It is now mid-January and the response I'm getting is that they need to wait 45 DAYS to hear back from the vendor. In an era with information at your finger tips, these business practices are archaic.

    The process should be simple but quite often there are glitches! Sounds like a great program but often causes more issues than the few dollars in points are worth. The customer service has slowly gotten worse over time. Normally, the process is log into Rakuten and link to a partner site and then make your purchase... seems simple enough. However, often the link is broken and the sale isn't "tracked" so your points won't show up. In the past I haven't had issues since you could "submit a claim for missing cash back" that would resolve the issue. My recent experience is that Rakuten will no longer reimburse this cash back when the tracking link is broken which appears to be an issue with their website. My recommendation is save yourself a few hairs that you don't have to pull out and forego the few dollars in cash back. They aren't worth it! Very poor customer service, very disappointed.

    Referred my dad which has the same name but different middle names and they refused to give me the referral money. Further more proceeded to deactivate mine, my wives, my dad’s and sisters accounts. Total scam would stay clear from this site.

    Worth it! You will get money back for buying things you would be buying anyway. It feels too good to be true but it is real. Lots of stores are on here too you will be surprised.

    Wow, all I can say is don't waste your time. In good faith you make substantial purchases through their website they get paid their commissions and you get nothing. Then when you try and find out why you didn't get any cash back they make you jump through hoops and maybe you get something. This is totally unacceptable and they should be investigated for fraud. As this claim for information was made at least 45 days later this greatly exceeds your statement of 7 days requirement. So I stand by my claim that service is at best disingenuous and at worse a scam if I have to jump through hoops to get the promised funds on every transaction.

    Really just a scam to harvest data and personal info. They are only giving rebates part of the time...When you're entitled to cash back you don't get it and if you complain didn't get the refund you are entitled to they argue with you for weeks until you eventually give up. Really just a scam

    Of course five stars, it's free money! I used to receive the "big fat cheque" but now I receive credits for amazon and I use it to buy myself fun things. My total so far is over $540 for just buying things I would buy anyway :-)

    The service was not good at all. It was very well managed by "EBATES", the issue come after Rakuten acquired the business now I have to follow up with each purchase. I think it is not worth using this website anymore.

    A great company I love rakuten but having the worst customer support team ever in Canada especially (Pa L. Member Services Account Specialist) they will just waste your time knowing that i registered as Member and made purchases with proofs of purchases ! But they told me at the and i'm not Γ©ligible for cashback and my account was deactivated without notice and i never receive any money from rakuten !!! don't trust them they will use the traffic of the website to got money from the merchant and won't send your cashback. I filed complain to consumer rights and letter to rakuten Japan to report this situation.

    Tried calling customer support and it is on a loop to press one for English. I am missing cash back, they told me I did not access the site, which I did. Edited: from 1 to 2 stars, it took a while for them to fix the issue. I would give it a 2.5 if I could, because still having a phone line not working is odd.

    Rakuten is a scam. They have the worst customer service ever. I made a purchase on December 3rd and have been getting the run around from Rakuten regarding my cash back. They refuse to do anything to address my issue. It has now been over 30 days waiting and the response I'm getting is that they need to wait another 45 days to hear back from the vendor. So they expect you to wait atleast 75 days, and I'm sure by then they'll have another reason to make you wait longer. I have no faith I will receive my cash back. Avoid Rakuten.

    I have been using this app for a few years, got cashback in time with most of stores as promised, aside from when I shop Expedia. In November and December of 2022, I shopped for 6 hotels from Expedia and completed all of the 6 stays over 40 days ago ( one is over 70 days) and got zero dollars cashback so far. Each time after I sent the help Email to their member service, they sent me the same responses from different service staff telling me there's nothing they can do except wait. The service was not as good as managed by "EBATES". I think Rakuten should move Expedia from their cashback list and don't fool their customers.

    My experience was pretty good honestly, it's free money, I get cheques every 3 months from $ 10 to $ 200, depends on my spending habits and travel. I don't' really follow up on cashback ,so I don't know how accurate it is and maybe I didn't get cashback on some purchases but I don't really' care, as it is a free bonus for me anyways on my existing purchases. All my family members are happy too with Rakuten.

    I have used rakuten a lot, using the exact same laptop, payment methods and browser. However, my recent purchase that was supposed to be 12% cash back from dyson was not processed by Rakuten and the scammers at Rakuten are saying I was not using Rakuten - when the Rakuten toggle was showing on my purchase. This only appears to happen with higher cash back purchases. The only reason i even used online dyson site was for the rakuten credit towards my dyson purchase (rather than in store as it takes 10 days to ship). Rakuten also randomly seems to have created a new account and I have zero idea where my old account went nor can I access it - no one i have asked to help me can merge the accounts. Very upsetting. I will likely not go out of my way to further use Rakuten.

    I have been a member is March 2015 and I have never had any issues getting cash backs, they deposit it in my paypal on time. Customer Service is very good resolving issue. I have referred friends and family and all have good thing to say. I will continue to shop through Ebates

    Just got some gift cards from Rakuten gift card shop and one card (Freshco) was to be 3% cash back but only got 1% back called, email and they came back to me and apologized for the error but said yes it did say you would get 3% back but is was wrong took down the 3% AD and said sorry but you only get 1% , so they cannot be trusted!! Rakuten Canada what a FAIL!!

    I am very disappointed with this service. I have been using only one account and saving the cash back, then one day they disable my account without any notice and when I contact customer service, they do not give me any proof that I violated the terms and conditions. This is not acceptable for a service like this.

    Rakuten is great. All that I do is to visit the website before my purchase and I get some cash back. Cumulatively, I got closely $300 over a few years :). Like anything else (credit card points, cash back, etc.), it just cumulates. It works for me, as I don't really "wait" anxiously for a few backs here and there. Big thumbs up!

    i referred my friend to Rakuten, i should be getting $30 referral fee and my friend too, they never credit me for the referral fee, my friend already fulfilled her requirements for me to receive the credit. i really feel like this is a scam. Agent had talked to me a few times via e mail and questioned my purchase to Lowe's back in July, what was that has anything to do with me referral??? I asked them many times what has it anything to do with my referral to my friend in Sept.???? never reply me directly to my question??? Dont use them, it is a scam. Save yourself the grieves, its not worth it, NOT WORTH IT. I would give ZERO ZERO ZERO star. One star is too many. Like a lot of the reviews said here, they freeze my account and password for no reason. stay away from them.

    I bought plane tickets on Expedia.ca through Rakuten last summer, and was supposed to receive 10% cash back on my purchase of $2032.02. Instead, I received $2.50, and that was after sending numerous emails to the company's customer service department. This is not the first time that this has happened, but it will be the last; I'm done with Rakuten.
