First time visited Mr. Fish North York on last Monday afternoon. Cozy and clean store. Excellent customer service. The server Coco was very attentive and courteous. She checked on our table few times during our meals to make sure everything was good. Great quality with large portions. We ordered the Sauerkraut Fish And Angus Beef slices combo and the Tomato Soup base fish stew. Each dish was carefully prepared. They tasted delicious and authentic. The price point was relatively low compared to other stores selling the sauerkraut fish. Very cute take out package, I can’t help to ask for a take out bag to go. Will definitely recommend friends and family. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance during my lunch break on a Monday, and I glad I did! Despite being crowded, I was fortunate enough to find two available tables. The bustling atmosphere revealed just how popular this place is, with orders flying in and food being delivered left and right. However, what truly impressed me was the speed and efficiency of the staff, as I spent less than 30 minutes in the restaurant while enjoying a delightful meal. Speaking of the meal, it was simply outstanding. I opted for the three-course lunch special, which came with a drink, and I can confidently say that it was worth every penny of the $15 price tag. The portion sizes were incredibly generous, so much so that I had enough leftovers to take home with me. The rice was cooked to perfection, fluffy and flavorful. The salad was fresh and a tangy dressing that complemented the meal wonderfully. However, the star of the show was undoubtedly the huge bowl of fish soup. Piping hot and brimming with fresh ingredients, it was a taste sensation. The broth was rich and savory, and the fish was tender and succulent. Each spoonful was a delight to savor. Not only was the food exceptional, but the service was also top-notch. Despite the busyness, the staff remained attentive and friendly, ensuring that every customer was well taken care of. They went above and beyond to accommodate the crowd, delivering orders promptly and maintaining a pleasant atmosphere throughout. When it comes to value for money, this place truly shines. For just $15, I received a satisfying three-course lunch with a drink. Considering the quality and quantity of the food, it's a steal 😀I left the restaurant feeling fully satisfied, both in terms of my appetite and my wallet. In conclusion, this restaurant is a hidden gem for lunch. The combination of delicious, fresh food, excellent service, and affordable prices make it a standout choice. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, I highly recommend giving this place a try. I certainly won't hesitate to return for another enjoyable dining experience. Note: Please be aware that my review is based on my personal experience, and the availability of tables and the level of busyness may vary.

Very delicious. The fish is fresh and tasty. They give me this for free to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival. Love it.

My favourite place. I usually choose Live Tilapia for the fish soup. It’s so fresh and good price! Pumpkin cake is my favourite too

Stopped by for a quick dinner and got: - Szechuan Peppercorn BBQ Basa Fish: Amazing value, with its huge portion size at a reasonable price. Fish was also cooked well - tender and flaky. The main issue was they put so much szechuan peppercorn it overpowered the whole dish. Added luncheon meat and black fungi, which were nice contrasts. - Braised Quail Eggs: Good value since there was a lot of eggs. Nice flavour as it wasn't overly salty. Place is small but laid out well. Service is quick and friendly. Also has a broad menu beyond what it's name suggests. Mr Fish is a good stop for a hearty meal.

We ordered three different soup base flavours: pumpkin, tomato and original mild spicy; they were all great. We all added basa fish. It was a good combination. The white rice is really well cooked. Service a little bit slow but great 👍🏻

A nice new concept of fish stew rice dishes. Love how much was actually in the stew from fish to add ins! not a big fan of tomato soups or stews but still had great flavour amd didn’t overpower any of the other flavours! Wish they could have some substitute for rice with noodle and that would totally elevate the experience more! The packaging is insanely amazing to look at and well thought out! Totally sealed when it comes to you and need to snap off the seal to open up the container! Amazing idea! Wish there was a few more base options without the tomato base or sauerkraut. Added an extra star because I loved the service and that totally made my experience here that much better! The attendant took the time to explain as well as she could and helped out with any questions I had! Great job overall! Follow me on IG @thirst_and_taste for better pics and more amazing content!

Amazing packing! I ordered a takeout and received a very nice sturdy bag. It was so heavy that I was doubtful if it was mine. But it was! The portions were huge! I had sauerkraut fish stew and it was delicious! Beware though, it’s rather hot and spicy. I definitely will return but will go for a non-spicy variant.

Ordered the fresh fish, super huge portion. Super fresh and yummy! Packaged super well for delivery, I'm very impressed, steaming hot still when arrived. Definitely will order again, or will try them in the restaurant directly.

A really nice and warm meal on a cold day! The House Special was flavourful with a good amount of fish. It had a little spice that added to the taste.

Surprising to be served a fried chicken carcass. But it was great! What a surprise. The rest of the food was also delicious but some was too spicy for me. I look forward to going back and trying some other dishes.

I ordered delivery and the delivery driver was late. That being said, my food was still hot and it was tasty! The food is yum, the portion sizes are large. I ate half and i am stuffed! The packaging looks great too! I wish it was spicier though. Well i know for next time! The fish soup i ordered was their signature dish.

Deducted one star for the rice. It was not refresh at all. It tasted like leftover for THREE nights. But the fired rice was fine. The fish was tender, we love that! The portion was more than enough. We were really full afterwards.

Perfect for winter. The sauerkraut brings a little sour flavour along with the peppercorn spice to the broth. I added quail eggs and vermicelli to mine because I prefer vermicelli over rice. Good portion and the fish is boneless.

Tried this place based on a friend's recommendation and it DID NOT disappoint. It's very very spicy but very much enjoyable. If you don't like spicy, my friend vouches for the non spicy option. The portions are very generous. I have since got back 3 times.

I really enjoyed my tomato fish stew, it was so flavourful and was absolutely loaded with toppings, but I really disliked the Szechuan peppercorn stew. I’m a spice lover, but I didn’t enjoy the flavour of this as it was just too peppery - but this could just be personal preference. The food comes quick in a reusable bag, and the portions were huge!

A unique flavour experience with hearty slices of fish in a sour broth. At first I was thinking why the need for rice and now I get why, the soup is oily and with the vast amount of cabbage and fish in the broth, you need the rice to balance the flavors. Get the house special if you like spice and peppercorns otherwise go for the signature for a more subdued taste. I found the peppercorns were a bit too much on the house one but then again this is authentic Sichuan. The popcorn chicken and rice cakes were also decent. Good value for money. Packaging is top notched, the takeout containers are specially designed for keeping soup hot. Online ordering is also convenient.

So, I've got to tell you about Mr. Fish – it's become my favourite spot for fish soup. They're open for both lunch and dinner, which is super convenient. The menu? It's got some real gems. The lunch special is an absolute steal at around $15, for a soup + rice + appetizer + drink. I got this delightful Golden Pumpkin Soup (swapped in tilapia for basa for lunch). It's packed with these funky pickled veggies, making the soup hearty but not spicy, perfectly seasoned. My friend had the Spicy BBQ Basa Fish - good kick, served with unexpected extras like bean sprouts and spam, and the basa is fried to perfection. The texture play here is brilliant. There was waaay too much food, so we got most of the soup as leftovers to go. Don't miss out on the Cucumber Salad – it's got this great crunch, sprinkled with peanuts, and it's not overly garlicky. Price-wise, you're looking at around $20 per person after everything for huge portions, which is pretty reasonable. I actually think for small~medium portioned people, you could even share 1 main and get 2 rice bowls, and that would be enough food. The service is laid-back – sometimes you've got to make an effort to catch the server's attention. But once you do, they're spot on: prompt and efficient. I'm a repeat customer for a reason. And their takeout/Uber packaging? Top-notch – no spills ever. They're also great at accommodating requests. Big thanks for always honouring my 'no cilantro' preference! In short, Mr. Fish is this wonderful little place where you get to satisfy your hearty soup cravings in a relaxed setting. Every visit is YUM, and I just keep finding myself drawn back. It's definitely a favourite of mine.

Fish is very soft, portions are well sized. If u get the signature and house special, it is also spicy. Very good for a cold night out, especially if you want some soup to warm soul.

Highly recommend the House Fish Stew (spicy) and Tomato (non spicy) Fish Stew. Each serving is just right, add crispy pork and braised pork bone and that would feed 3 easily. Good value, will visit again!

I’ve been here once, and I tried their monthly special, Tom Yam Fish Stew. First few sip was good but it’s getting salty after finishing half of the bowl. Other appetizers were good but the Squid-ball was a bit overpriced. Since I don’t come to this area often so I still didn’t get the chance to give a second try. I want to see if their Signature Sauerkraut Fish Stew is same salty as the Tom Yum. Or maybe that’s their homestyle flavour and I just need to ask to have low salt on my soup. Service was average. BUT I like their Plum Juice, it’s very tasty, very flavorful 😋

I ordered Schezuan style soup instead of spicy ones. I barely can eat it because it was too spicy for me even though I'm a big fan of spicy food. But still, the broth and fish were very yummy. Packaging was very nice and recyclable. I will definitely order from this place again.

I would generally give this place a lower rating but the people who work there are nice. The food it’s an acquired taste, lots of whole herbs in it etc. I didn’t like it as much but perhaps someone else would.

I have walked passed Mr. Fish many times and never gave it a second thought but decided to give it a try today. As the name suggests, Mr. Fish specializes in basa fish fillets (whole fish option available) in a variety of soup bases. We tried their House Sauerkraut stew and their Tomato stew. Both came with a bowl of white rice, were flavourful, and filled with other ingredients such as grass noodles, green onions, bean sprouts, etc. I think Mr. Fish offers delicious, warm Chinese style comfort food at a great price and would recommend them for those who are looking for a hearty/healthy(ish) meal.

As we love Hotopia, Mr. Fish is a great alternative to them especially their yummy basa fish. We had their house Sauerkraut base, with basa, and added enoki mushrooms, bok choy and fried rice with scrambled eggs and chopped chives. Let’s say we were super happy! Service was okay as it was super busy and there was only one person handling the entire front of the restaurant. Street parking available and would definitely come again!

This place is wonderfulll. I’m always a huge fan of pickled cabbage fish stew and this restaurant’s version of it is amazing. We ordered the Signature Fish and the Peppercorn beef and both were very good. We also asked for less spicy and less numbing and they accommodated our preferences, and wrote it on the package. The staff must be friendly to write enjoy on it! 😀 We ordered the upgraded rice with eggs and scallion and were pleasantly surprised but how yummy it was. We also tried the popcorn chicken and it was very flavourful and not salty! Sustainable packaging with reusable containers and bag. Servings were big that we carried it over to the next day...! Will definitely be back!

This place always seems busy, so I got takeout. Must say their takeout packing is on point! Looks great and so functional. I had their new Kimchi series and it’s so good! Soup base was flavourful and not too salty! Which I appreciate very much. I loved the angus beef rolls with tofu, a bowl full of delicious protein that pairs perfectly with white rice 😍 kimchi Fish and tofu was really yummy too, so tender with lots of items in the soup including: fish slices, medium firm tofu, kimchi ofc, bean sprouts, glass noodles, and radish. Worth the price for fresh and high quality ingredients. Will be coming back to try other dishes.
