Like really? They have no manners at all definitely not returning the bathroom smelled so bad its not good thank god my salad was good as for connor we tipped you even though you didn’t deserve it no smile or welcome feeling and as a customer that hurts when you rolled your eyes at us very unprofessional

3 stars: Inconsistent in all respects, but still the brunch spot that my parents frequent. The $20 grand breakfast is our go-to brunch dish, which is usually great, but sometimes only good. Our favourite waitress left, so the service is sometimes extremely slow, and the servers aren't as pleasant or attentive. Last time, there was also an odd smell and sticky floors

Shared the fish and chip and chicken permesan. Can't go wrong with either dishes. Service was quite fast and our server was amazing giving cookies to my nephews.

Had a very tasty corned beef on rye. The kids menu has lots of options, but to be honest their favourite part was the root beer floats. What stood out the most, however, was the attentive and friendly service. Junabe was very welcoming, and went above the call of duty when she found my daughter’s missing mittens after we had left the restaurant. Not 5 stars, but 6… we will definitely be back!

Got some deli salads and the containers were missing a lot to be full. That's probably a trick to keep the price down. Also the owner answers good reviews only

Had corned beef on rye, portion was good size. However, meat was cold, bread not buttered and bread was dried out. Fried were good but warm. Cole slaw was excellent. Staff was friendly. Hamburger looked outstanding and homemade fresh, 2 patties. I will go back and try again.

Very disappointing. I wasn't in the mood for their breakfast so I ordered a burger. Look at the photo to see how small this is. This is what I get for $20? One of our friends ordered French onion soup. It was barely warm. Calamari came and we don't think it was quite cooked properly. Two of us have upset stomachs so who knows I might be updating this review about half an hour. I won't attach photos though. Rest of the food was okay, but expensive for what it is. I realized costs of gone up but this seemed excessive. I'm assuming this place is surviving purely on its reputation because there are definitely better options

The food and service was really good. The ambience and their architecture is really something lol 😂 It's not regular at all. I enjoyed ALL the meals I ordered. Their cocktails are the truth and the redwine was good. The waitress was really polite and helpful. MEALS came in good time too. My friend and I I had pasta with chicken, ceasar salad, buffalo chicken wings and fries, red wine and a cocktail. All the meals were good and it was quiet enough to have a conversation and seem private without being too expensive. I RECOMMEND.

Was out for a friend's birthday. Food was mostly fine, though the fries were cold. The waitress took drink orders at the beginning and never once checked in to see if we wanted refills, water, or an additional drink. We ordered (were a group of 8, with a reservation), and 10 minutes later, she came back to tell us two of our orders were unavailable. Okay, fine. She brings back the menus, then leaves again instead of waiting to take the replacement orders. So further delay till the last two orders go in. Then the food arrives for everyone but the two who had to re-order. We were going to wait until their meals came, but after 5 minutes, it was obvious they weren't coming any time soon. I'd eaten a few fries when they first arrived, and they were barely warm. The rest of the meal was an appropriate temperature, so no complaints there. The last two meals arrived just as the rest of us were finishing our dinners. Personally, had I been the waitress, I would have asked the cook to hold the other orders until the re-orders came in so we could have dined together. Or at least told us the other meals were going to be late. It was pretty awkward that the birthday girl had to watch her guests eat while she was waiting for her meal through no fault of her own.

Arrived 4:30 on sat, not busy, ordered a meatloaf to share with my 92 yr old mother to which waitress said we could as portion size would have been too much for her favorite meal. received 1 plate and 1 napkin, kitchen server came back with another big plate only. You would think this would have been split in the kitchen since I only had a fork & knife, that's why we came to a restaurant... but that wasn't the biggy. I always have water and napkins on hand which I needed in this case because there were no refills on water, I left 3 my napkins on the table for my quick reach, waitress dropped off 3 more on table after we were 1/2 way through I told her to take them back as in too late I'm using my own and don't want them wasted. Earlier I'd asked waitress for a pinot red whatever it's called on the menu ... she came back later saying its white grigio ... I said no whatever the red is and she didn't understand so I just said forget it never mind ... annoyed at this point. So mom wants the icecream Sunday with caramel and all she got was 2 scoops of vanilla with caramel drizzle ... really the menu said it was a sundae with whipped cream & cherry ... that's not what she got. 2 scoops of ice cream for 9.99 what a bargain... can guarantee we won't be back.

The staff were very nice and helpful. The food tasted good but it wasn't fresh. As for the drinks, not the best honestly. Good spot for families or couples. Overall 3.5 stars not 4.

Good classic family restaurant. Awesome deli sandwiches. Well, most of the time. On Family Day we came to the restaurant, which has been a frequent occurrence. But on this occasion not only did we have to wait for over an hour after getting our table for someone to take our drink orders let alone our food. It got worse from there. All three of our orders were wrong on arrival, plus the service was slow. But we’re not prone to complain in general. And we could have let all that slide. But then our take out order was completely wrong, which we didn’t realize until we got home. How do you mistake fish and chips for corned beef and a loaf of rye? We contacted the restaurant. Had to come back the next day at our own expense, time, and gas. The acting manager at the time said he’d give us 20% off our next meal, in writing. Not at generous as they might have been but it was something. Fast forward to today. Not only is said acting manager no longer there, but the current manager didn’t honour what their employee had promised. I’ve worked in customer service for almost 40 years and I’ve rarely seen someone take less ownership. She claimed they don’t give more than 15%, which we did ultimately get, but that wasn’t our fault and frankly, not our problem. This experience has made it very unlikely that we would choose to return. In fact, I’d actively steer people away at this point. Bad service can happen from time to time, but if you’re a manager you take responsibility and make it right. Not try and duck the issue. Was 5/5 now 2/5.

All the staff were super kind and friendly, I'd be broke from tipping if they worked at every restaurant LOL 😆 If it weren't for them, this place would be a 3🌟 Unfortunately the food was pretty mid. I started my order with soup of the day which was the cabbage soup 🍲, that was actually very delicious! We ordered the Classic Burger 🍔 and The Great Reuben 🥪 for our mains. I was a bit letdown by the burger. It's very bland and tasteless. There was no seasoning and barely any sauce. The great reuben sandwich also came with a bit too much grease on the plate.

Less busy than other Pickle Barrel locations so you don't need to wait. I went in November and the restaurant was chilly. Environment was more quiet than other Pickle Barrels if you like that. CAA members get 10% off.

Absolutely terrible experience here. Got seated only to wait 25 minutes until we had to get up walk around and find someone in the restaurant to wait on us. The person I found was clearly stressed to begin with and didn’t even ask how we were doing. We then got our drinks and one of them (that wasn’t in a can) was completely flat. We got our food finally and one of the orders had about at most 10 fries alongside the burger. We then ate and had no one show up once during our whole meal. We then AGAIN had to get up again to find someone who could process the payment. We mentioned some of our concerns only to say that’s just how our drinks and food are. What was supposed to be a nice dinner to celebrate a birthday after a fun day downtown watching the Jays game turned into a terrible experience. Manager took down our phone number and email to see what he could do for us so now we will wait but not hopeful with the outcome. Leaving this comment for management/manager to make a serious change on how their staff and employees 1) treat people 2) Address concerns and 3)basic customer service etiquette. Thank you.

Nice location! Lovely staff and very tasty food. I enjoyed their fish and chips and my dinner date enjoyed a wonderful burger. They were very nice about replacing fries with a salad. Asked if they can accommodate if we had someone with a peanut allergy and they said they could no problem!

Food was okay, server was pleasant although not the most efficient. The table we were sat at hadn't been wiped properly, and the floor/carpet all around had lots of spilled food and debris. It's a long walk down stairs to the washroom, and when I got there, there was sewage smell. The washroom was clean at first glance, but there was black gunk all under the rim of the toilet (visible from the stall door entrance), so obviously the washroom just gets a quick once-over and not a proper cleaning. The toilet paper is super thin.

I’ve been to Pickel Barrel countless amount of times and came to this specific location twice. I have never had a bad experience until today. My parents decided to take me out to lunch as they wanted to do it as their treat. When it came time to pay, my parents do not know very well of the tipping system because they are immigrants and hardly go out to eat. However, they enjoyed the food and they wanted to tip the waitress. Mind you they are not aware of the average tipping percentage. After the payment went through, the waitress was not impressed with the the amount they gave and decided to loudly and rudely state the “correct amount” they should’ve gave. My parents were shocked and looked hurt but apologized because they didn’t know that they should’ve given a certain amount. In addition to this, when choosing what to eat, my mom didn’t realize the item she chose for my father was off the kids menu, so when the waitress came she then told us we can choose a similar item off the normal menu. The item she chose for us did have almonds in it (which my father is allergic too) but said she can not include it in the meal. However, my mom wanted more time to look for a better option but the waitress kept loudly repeating that she can still get it without almonds. It felt like we were getting rushed even though we wanted a few more minutes to look at the menu. I did end up speaking to the manager in charge that day about this incident and they kindly understood and said that they will definitely speak to the waitress. The waitress saw me talking to the manager and I apologized and tried to explain but she continued to say “it’s fine, it’s fine”. Although it was handled, I will definitely not be visiting again.

I'm rating according to what The Pickle Barrel was last I was there. That's over 20 years ago. It looks like it's changed A LOT. It was so amazing and had the greatest deli sandwiches anywhere!! The menu was always big but it seems it's strayed from what it used to be. I started going there when I was a child, just under 50 years ago. I lived on and grew up on Leslie St. from the age of 5. I've lived on Vancouver Island for 20 yrs but Pickle Barrel would definitely be a spot I'd want to go to if I were to visit.

Wonderful customer care. I had ordered three boxes of party sandwiches on Tuesday for a Thursday morning pick-up. This was for an outside after funeral service. On Wednesday it was brought to my attention that the food should be boxed and individually presented. I was going to put the food out on trays with other trays as well as the sandwiches but quickly changed my mind. I called Pickle Barrel at approximately 6:00 pm the night before I was to pick up my sandwiches and asked if it would be possible to double my order. The very pleasant lady who answered the phone went to the kitchen to inquire if it was possible. They said they could do it, but probably not for the time I requested the pickup. I explained that we had a 2-1/2 hour drive to the cemetery and I really needed to pick them up by 11:00 a.m. Once again the lady who answered the phone went back to the kitchen and reported back that they would do their very best. The next day we picked up all six boxes of sandwiches - on time! Thank You for your willingness to go the extra mile to help your customers. Well done!!

I ordered a corn beef sandwich with fries today. The wait wasn't too long but I had to go back and ask for napkins. After I left i realized they didn't give me a fork for the coleslaw either. These aren't a huge deal but just annoying things that indicate a lack of attention to detail.

Met with several friends I haven't seen in quite a while for lunch. The food was great, though as with everything, the price has gone up a bit. It was fun, and delicious!

The food at this restaurant is quite spectacular, especially for the price. They have not raised their prices yet which is clearly bringing them quite a bit of business. The service for mother's day was amazing. Our server was very attentive even when the kids had some issues with their food. The place does need a face lift. The carpets are extremely old and dirty, but I mean they keep their prices low for a reason. Overall 4/5 experience.

We came here on a Saturday afternoon (1:30) for brunch/lunch. Three adults and one child. It wasn't busy at all, was pretty quiet. We sat on the patio, was a nice day for it. Service was good, food was very good. I ordered the grand breakfast, a lot of food so it's good if you're really hungry or you can share. Other dishes we ordered were corned beef sandwich and the Kung Pao bowl, both were delicious. The kids meal was a good value (my nephew chose the fish and chips) with a choice of drink and a dessert. I personally didn't mind that it wasn't busy but I know some people who like to dine at a more lively restaurant. Overall a positive experience. Been here in the past but not in a long while. Would definitely return.

I had the early bird breakfast with my sister on September 4 2022. There were not too many people yet in the restaurant, however I wanted to say that our service was outstanding. The waiter Ganesh, kept refilling our coffee and constantly checked on us to inquire if we needed anything else. He was polite and pleasant. It helped make our visit to Pickle Barrel enjoyable. The breakfast was good too.

I was so HAPPY when the music was turned off. We were struggling to hear. There isn't any reason to play music at this particular establishment as the clientelle is mostly seniors. Thank you to the manager for hearing us customers and turning it off. My whole mood changed immediately and I ended up having a WONDERFUL time, enjoyed the huge breakfast plate (so good!) and conversation. I eat here all the time with my elderly parents. It's a perfect place for us - when the music is turned off. Enjoy!

Our waitress was lovely, so so sweet! My sisters and I received our food quickly, and it was delicious! I ordered Cali Chicken grilled cheese and it was so good! I also bought a lemonade and my sisters bought virgin pina coladas and they were so tasty. Definitely would go back. 10/10 :)

The worst experience ever. Our waitress still don't know her name as she never told us took about 10 mins to take our drink order and another 15 mins to bring it. Terrible service. The food was just bland and just plain gross. Save your money or try another location.

I was just at the Pick Barrel located at Leslie and just found out that the server that myself and all my friends that normally serves us does not work their anymore Our server "Katie" was the best. We did not have to ask her to refill our drinks, as she always made sure our glasses were full. She would put up with the way we ordered. We never ordered any item as described in the menu. We always had to customize it and she always was able to satisfy our requests.

I have been ordering the party sandwich box for many years and found the quality to be consistently good. However, I recently ordered a box for pick up…..received a phone call advising that the agreed upon pick up time would be delayed and after arriving at their revised pick up time still had to wait an additional half hour. Also, the box contained several sandwiches that would be considered “seconds” ie. pieces of bread missing and irregular shapes. Definitely unacceptable customer service on many levels and most frustrating!

Have been going there for over 30 years but the food tonight was not very good. My ribs were very dry and it was like eating Leatherwood not enjoy them at all. The mash potatoes container had like 4 bites and that was it. Some of my order was missing and they did not make my burger with all of the toppings that I paid for. I gave them 5 stars because the food there is amazing just not tonight.

The food was good. The waitress kind and efficient. We did dine in and take out. The waitress allowed us to pay for take out at the table to save us some time. As I left the restaurant I was accosted by an employee who accused me of leaving without paying . She said people steal. I took out the receipts. Lucky I kept them. Then she left. No apologies. My suggestion- find another restaurant when they treat you respectfully.
