So, we thought, "Hey, kids got their COVID and flu shots, why not celebrate with some Japanese BBQ?" Off we went to Gyu-Kaku for our their first dive into BBQ heaven, and let me tell ya, it was a blast! First things first, shoutout to the squad serving us – they were on it! Super attentive and made sure our BBQ game was strong from start to finish. Now, onto the juicy stuff – the meat! Oh boy, it was lip-smacking good! Grilling those cuts right at our table was like having our own mini BBQ party. Flavors were poppin', and everyone was on board for round after round. Now, the kids' meals were decent, but here's the scoop: the corn was a bit chilly. No biggie, though! Next round, we're ditching the regular kids' meals and just loading 'em up with some BBQ goodness too. But here's the kicker, the pièce de résistance for the little ones – the s'mores! Man, they were hyped to cook those bad boys right there at the table. It was the perfect ending to our awesome meal, with the kids all smiles and giggles. To wrap it up, Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ nailed it. Killer service, mouthwatering meat, and a hoot of a time for the fam. Next go-around, we're diving headfirst into more meaty goodness and absolutely indulging in those s'mores again.

We went to Gyukaku on the weekend, so there is no all-you-can-eat option. However, this is even better for people really want to enjoy the food at grilling style. You don’t have to eat too much, and you don’t have to worry about do I eat enough to cover how much I pay. Just relax and enjoy the food. It’s good, and we really like it

They have a lot of variety to choose from for their AYCE. The premium one is good enough for us, we haven’t even tried all the meats. But the taste doesn’t really stand out compare to other AYCE. Service is such a disappointment. I had a pop and need to be refilled, I put my pop where the server would see it is empty, there are few server who would pass by and not even other to ask if I need a refill and I saw one server who happen to serve some food on the table next to us and I saw her just looking at my glass and move away. Bad service experience for me as first timer in this restaurant.

We came here to celebrate a family member’s birthday. First time at this location and there’s a noticeable difference in service compared to our usual location in Mississauga. Food was fine but service was slow and our server didn’t know how to apply a promo offer I received via email (10% off), the man went to “check” with his manager and returned to say they don’t accept it. Our final bill was more than $230… frustrating and annoying to say the least. Floor was sticky and decor outdated… never returning to this location again.

Made a late reservation for a group of 5 on Thanksgiving Day, and each got the $52 premium all you can eat. The food was delicious and the service was good. One friend thought that the grill wasn't as hot as other places, so the food was cooked slower, and another friend wasn't full after the two hour time limit, so one grill might not be able to cook enough for larger groups.

As good as the other players in the j grill marketplace! And they now also have an ayce menu too! The cuts of beef used were phenomenal! Nice amount of fat and the beef was just so juicy! Also loved the fact that with every plate of beef put down, they mention how long to cook it on each side. Service was bang on! Super helpful, always attentive and came by to change the grill a few times. Everything was definitely worth the money! Great job overall! Great service, fantastic dining experience, delicious food! Could use some dusting. We were hungry and wanted to try something new on a rainy Saturday afternoon. After some online research to see what's out there near us that we haven't yet tried, we came across Gyu-Kaku only a 5 min drive away. We made a reservation online, and off we went. At this location, if you prefer to park your car in the on-site indoor parking lot, make sure you ask your wait staff for a parking voucher before you leave. They are very attractive though, and will likely ask you themselves as you settle your bill. First impressions as we walked in, was that it's on the dirty side. From afar you will notice dust all over higher surfaces, benches, and ledges. The floors, around the baseboards are caked with grime throughout. The clear acrylic dividers between booths are full of stains and fingerprints, and the decorative light fixtures above the grill tables are caked with dust. Some closer attention to the cleaning practices would go a long way toward a 5-star review. All this being said, the service, from every single staff member, was OUTSTANDING. They are extremely attentive and polite. I would go as far as saying that it's up there with the best service we've received in a long time in Toronto. The happy-hour deals a re fantastic, and the meats are all fresh and absolutely delicious. We ordered the Gyu-Happy hour special for $75, which included some starters, three cuts of beef, an order of pork and one of chicken. Everything was outstandingly delicious. We left more than satisfied, and with full bellies that needed to be walked off. We will definitely return and bring our friends and family along. However we do wish some more effort is made in order to keep the place looking clean so that they may receive 5-star reviews in the future since they are very deserving.

I ate dinner here with my wife and kids. We ordered a bit of everything - cold appetizers, bbq meats and a dessert. It was very tasty and well portioned. Service was a bit slow but it was still very good service. The restaurant was big, spacious and clean, and came with underground free parking with the purchase of a meal. I highly recommend!

First time trying out Gyu-Kaku and the experience was great. We went there for lunch and certain menu items have happy hour pricing (their happy hours from 11:30 to 5:30) The restaurant is clean and roomy and has clear plastic shield installed to separate the tables. The waitress who served us is very polite, she patiently walked us thru the menu and kept checking with us thru out the course. I gave a thumbs up to their menu choices, from appetizers to the different meat choices, lots of variety to choose from and the quality is good. U can find parking in the parking building located on Shinleaf Terrace. The restaurant will provide a slip so u don’t need to pay for parking.

Excellent service! The waiters were so attentive and patient with us and offered to change our grill frequently. We rly enjoyed the AYCE Premium menu ($52 pp) as it had a good variety of sides and meats. Their cheese corn and addicting cucumbers were SO GOOD and their beef cuts were also good quality and delicious. We had a great experience and can’t wait to be back! Love this place for Japanese bbq. They offer a variety of meats and you can choose the marinades. The place is well ventilated. One thing is that their prices are a bit in the higher side but you can always come here during their happy hours. They also have a mobile app where you can collect points.

We initially came to Gyukaku at this location because of their happy hour promotion, which is advertised as until 6 pm but the staff refused to honor it as it is really 5 pm... What's worse is they they are well aware of this typo and they continue to swindle guests... So if you enjoy shady business practices and being ripped off then you know, then this might be your jam. But hey, it's pandemic times - scamming a few bucks from your customers might be how some desperate businesses get by🤷‍♂️. #GetDepressed #NotHappy #GoingInSaltyà Putting shady business tactics aside, I will say the waitress serving us did a great job going through the menu with us, making sure our tea is filled regularly and changing our grill once in a while. Overall, gold star on that front! We found the meats to be quite solid when it comes to quality and flavour. The highlight for us was the kalbi miso premium cut. Portions are not large and quite pricey for the provided volumes. With that said, you're not coming to Gyukaku if you're looking for a cheap bite or budget cuts. When compared to other Japanese grillhouses, you're going to get more value for your buck (not to mention more transparency when it comes to running a business) at the same price point but keeping in mind you probably won't equal quality cuts.

We really enjoyed our meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We order the “Meat Lover’s” set for 2. It is for 90$ and it was the perfect choice for us. Every dish was delicious and the meat was very good quality. We ordered the Tayaki with vanilla ice cream as an extra dessert and it was amazing. I highly recommend trying this place. On top of that, it has an authentic Japanese vibe to it.

Enjoyed the "Premium Meat Lover's" set for 2. The quality of the meats exceeded our expectations, and the grilling experience was interactive and delightful. Highly recommend for BBQ lovers. Tips: 1. Following the suggested cooking times by staff enhanced the dining experience. 2. You can ask the staff to change the grill pan if it becomes burnt during your meal.

We came here for AYCE and it was very good! The veggies, tofu, cow tongue are a good way to start before digging into the heavier meat plates. We like the non-marinated meats more as the marinated ones are a little too sweet for us. Shrimps are also very fresh. The dessert icecream and mango/strawberry mochi are also good, and smores too.

I recently visited this restaurant and tried their Gyu-Kaku Salad, Sweet Potato Fries and Fried Cheese Wontons, All the dishes were pretty good and reasonably priced as well and I being vegetarian I have to say that they do have some good options and I will definitely be going there again. Talking about the restaurant they do have good ambiance and staff is also very quick and polite, Also they have validated parking.

It was my first time visiting this restaurant. Overall the experience was very good. Only issue was , since the restaurant closes at 9, the staff was busy with closing and forgot to bring our dessert. Other than that, it was very good. The portions were sufficient and since we BBQ 'd the meat to our liking it was pretty interactive and the time spent felt great. The music level was moderate so it was easy to talk to eachother without being loud. We opted for the set menu and it was a lot of food. And price wiae i felt it was totally worth it. Definitely recommend.

Excellent food and meat selection. You can choose from a set course or order a la carte. There is no all you can eat option, but I didn't find that an issue with the set course options. This is great because you normally stuff yourself with only meat, but they provide salads and vegetable options to balance the meal. They are only open for lunch on the weekends. Still a bit pricey, but I found it worth it.

What a fun experience! This was our first visit to Gyu-Kaku and our server walked us through the menu and our various options and explained to us how to work the grill and how long each item should be cooked. We opted for the premium meat lovers option and it was so good! Lots of various cuts of beef, a great chicken karage app and rice was flavourful too. The salad as well as mushrooms and broccoli were nice to bring some veggies into the meal. Everything was flavourful and we had a lot left over. We will be going back again for sure. It was nice to see that they clean the grills thoroughly between seatings and also validate your parking if you park in the paid lot :)

Excellent Service and delicious quality food. Came here for Father’s Day and got the preset menu. Was our first time trying Japanese BBQ, and it was so good. The set menu was more food then we could finish and was so flavourful. We appreciated that they didn’t bring everything all at once and walked us through the recommended cooking time and also the paring sauce with it. It felt like a tasting menu. The price for the set menu we thought was worth the quality your paying for, don’t forget to tip your server .. they really are hands on and know what they’re doing. Also, they changed the grill for us to make sure you had the best cooking experience without us having to ask.

Great spot to spend time with friends or family. Big tables, so you can definitely order all you can eat. The food came quickly and was quite delicious, even if we had to cook ourselves. Definitely recommend getting premium package. Try everything they have to offer!

A really well-run establishment with attentive service, great variety and flavor of Japanese BBQ with sauces to match! Throughout our meal, servers check-in on how we are doing regularly and managers came over few times as well. Meat quality is superb. Highly recommended

Great service and nice environment. They accomodate small and big parties. We tried the Japanese fried chicken, yuzu avocado salad, mushrooms, chicken, brown rice, kalbi and many more. Food was delicious. Parking is available.

I was here with my boyfriend right when it opened. We made reservations but there were a lot of empty tables even though it was around lunch time. The food was just excellent and our servers were awesome. They explained what each order was and how long to cook each meat. There wasn't any All You Can Eat available so it did come to about $170ish for the both of us, which is kinda pricey but totally worth it in my opinion. Will definitely come back!

Our first time visiting restaurant. The staff were wonderful and provided great instructions about the meal choices. We ordered the meat lovers combo for three, the Asahi pitcher, which was the drink special for Sunday and the spicy bimbap. Loved the variety of meats offered, but the rice got a bit cold quickly. The restaurant offered 4 hours of free parking, and there's a parking lot at the side of the restaurant down the street beside Porsche dealership. Happy hour is every day 10-6pn, which is a good option, and the AYCE was Monday to Thursday. There's so many items and offering that you have to come back. They also have a membership that offers extra savings.

I would probably give this a 4.5-star rating if I had a choice, but leaning closer to 5. The food quality was good, with decent variety. The service was also on point, with various servers (including our main server) checking in on us regularly. They were also very on top of everything we needed and all the items in our meal, which was awesome. It's not all-you-can-eat on Fridays and weekends (unlike equivalent counterparts like Shinta or Gyubee), but the restaurant does have pretty decent set meals for various group sizes, and there was plenty of food for our party of 10. They also have a reasonably priced kids' menu, with fairly sizable portions. The space itself is spacious, clean, and comfortable, and we didn't feel overly cramped, even with a bigger group. Our group size did result in an automatic gratuity of 18%, but that isn't out of the norm and typical of most restaurants. Paid street parking (free after 6pm) is more convenient but limited. Parking in the attached structure has more spots and is also paid, but can be validated at the restaurant (i.e., free for patrons of the restaurant); just ask the server for a ticket to put into the machine.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. Everything food and service wise was great! We chose the $120 option for 3 people under the Larger groups section! - was a great choice, very filling & ordered a Spicy Beef bibimbap on the side (def preferred this over the plain rice provided with the meal) The only vegetables that were provided were garlic mushrooms - I would of liked a bit variety vege wise. My favourite part of the meal was the: Harami skirt steak and the prime rib! Both reallly good! Amazing quality meat! Also enjoyed an Asahi pitcher of beer which was the Sunday drink special! Wanted the s’mores for dessert but no chocolate. Its happy hour until 6pm so you can enjoy slightly cheaper menu prices! You get a 4hour parking voucher after your meal, they also state there is a 90 min seating limit but I’m not sure how strict they are with that! Maybe comes into okay on busier nights. Would definitely come back. Have some great lunch specials and other things in the menu I’d like to try! Thank you for a great experience. Note: I would rather Japanese bbq over Korean bbq - hands down!

We had a wonderful experience here on Saturday night. The waitress was very attentive and very helpful. She made suggestions for us, told us how big the portions are, what it is every time she brought meat to the table and advised us on how long to cook. The delivery to the table was very well paced. We don’t feel rushed and the table was never too crowded or empty. She changed fresh grill before we realized it was time to do so. We never had to wave at her - she checked on us every once in a while. Actually we sat in the most far corner of the restaurant but we were never neglected. We asked for her name because she is so good. Her name is Uyen. If you are lucky to be at her table, you will know what I mean. Did I mention the food was great? By the way the calamari was better than any I’ve had. Salad was crisp and fresh. The waiter asked us if we wanted to take picture before he helped us mix. Overall we are very satisfied. Much better than other Japanese BBQ place we’ve been to before.

Excellent service and delicious food! When the meat is served, they tell you how long to cook each side for, but who really remembers that. The only suggestion I would provide to the restaurant is to have a cook time cheat sheet on each table, that would be super helpful.

Reservation only - a very smart and safe move at this specific time. The place is very clean and there are glass dividers between tables. They have plenty of servers and each server only handle their own tables which is really good. Our server was very friendly. We got some meat combo for 2 person (can’t remember the name). The bibimbap was sooo delicious omg 🤤 the steak are really good too. It seems a little bit pricy and the quantity of the meat looks small, but when we finished we realized it is pretty enough for 2 person.

Friend and I ordered the Sake sampler and Premium Meat Set that comes in different types and grade of beef from Japan. The Harami skirt meat was phenomenal. The same taste I had when I was in Shibuya in Japan. It melted in my mouth like butter. Extremely juicy and buttery grade of beef. After the sake sampler we ordered a full bottle and the experience was immersive. Our server was attentive and knows what he is doing! Awesome place 10/10. WORTH YOUR BUCKS!

Awesome location. Manager Jason was very hospitable and professional, our waitress Helen was amazing and patient too. We had the ceiling dripping drops down to our table, but the staff reacted fast and moved us to another table quickly. Food is amazing, I was afraid that it might be different from before Covid, but I am glad they still taste great. Will definitely drive up from Downtown again!

The atmosphere is really welcoming and pretty. The seats were comfortable and I got a pretty good view of the kitchen. Food came out pretty fast and the servers and service was overall really nice and fast. Will be fun coming to other locations eating with friends :)
