Very pleasantly surprised for Newcastle. Having lived abroad for over 10 years, I’m little out of touch with the dining scene in Newcastle and don’t have high expectations of restaurants here. However, I have to say that this and it’s sister restaurants are good and worthy of visits. Food is good (many of the meats are halal for those interested), attentive service and value for money. Well done and I will be back.

Nicely laid out dining area, with frequent delivery of meats, complimentary fries were a good twist. Only improvement I would suggest is the buffet/salad bar can be a bit cramped if more than 5 ppl are grazing also could have done with a couple more staple foods on the buffet bar. (This accounts for 4 star on atmosphere because I could not take away from the food) That being said, the meats are cooked amazingly and you will definitely get to eat your fill.

Great experience! The food is incredible, such a wide selection of meats and the salad bar is extensive. The desserts are really delicious too. The staff are really friendly and attentive. Bring your appetite!

People were pleasant, servers were slap dash, rushed and inconsiderate to people's needs. As if they wanted to fill us up as quickly as possible to get us put as quickly as possible. 5 servers of meat within 5 minutes is ridiculous. My wife who has had 70 percent of stomach romoved was physically sick. The idea of a very expensive meal out with people we care about is to have a nice relaxing chat while eating. Table seating was horrendous with 7 people squeezed onto a table that was suitable for 4 or 5, so we had people struggling to sit and enjoy the meal. The quality of food was awesome and the restaurant itself I found very nicely decorated. I turned my card red to stop the servers but they just kept on a coming 🤣.they also put a 32 quid tip on the bill before we even received the bill which we felt obligated to pay. Overall my personal experience was damaged by bad customer service.

I've been in Rio steakhouse twice now, and have referred a couple of other friends. It's an experience I'll want to have over and over again. Their salad is the best. Service is top quality. They serve you different kinds of steak till you say no. Then the staff keep coming around to know if you need anything and if you are enjoying yourself. At the end, the bill is very adequate compared to this experience you get there. I don't think any other steakhouse can beat their services. Highly recommended

The food and staff were amazing. We had been told beforehand not to over eat. Well, we came out absolutely stuffed. It was lovely . Salad bar to die for, meats were succulent and delicious 😋 . The pictures don't do it justice. I had loaded the creamy mushrooms on. They were fabulous 👌

We went for a friend's birthday last night and we all really enjoyed our night. Upon being greeted by a friendly lady at the door we were taken to our table, where to concept was explained to us. It was a great atmosphere, with couples and groups of young people in, and the food was outstanding. The salad bar was varied and fresh and regularly topped up and the meats were gorgeous, cooked medium rare. Service was very regular with little breaks in-between and we weren't hurried off our table either. The waiters were all excellent. An excellent experience and we will be back to eat another half a cow!

Went for a birthday dinner. Superb folk that provide excellent service and friendly too.. 5 star staff

A great experience only slightly let down by missing out on the sausage twice due to the size of our party. Salad was phenomenal, the various meats all tender and cooked to perfection. The sausage, when I finally got it, was worth the wait.

Great experience. Clean and stylish atmosfere. Very friendly staff. Food was amazing. Some people may say it is expensive but is worth every penny.

Absolutely fantastic! Meat is brought around constantly and you just flip the little card around when you've had enough. One of the waitresses stayed specifically near our table so we always had someone to ask for drinks etc... I'm vegetarian and the salad bar was incredible! Rice, potatoes, all kinds of salad, sushi, you name it! Really recommend for everyone!

Fantastic food staff Grace excellent, passadors (servers) very good. Great decor and very welcoming, look out for the new restaurants opening I Durham and Sunderland soon, if you like steak this'll quickly become a favourite

Great experience the other day at Rio in Jesmond. The meats were always coming, and the salad bar was delicious. Some stuff didn’t taste so fresh but I didn’t mind as I was focused on the meats! My favorites were the gammon and pineapple, beef skirt and lamb!! I’ve never been so full in my life so make sure to be hungry. Only critique was that some meat was either very rare or completely well done. The staff do ask before hand how you like it cooked. I prefer medium rare so some was slightly overdone for my liking.

This has to be one of if not the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. Food is fantastic and the selection of meats are constant. The service is fantastic as is the deco really nice experience from start to finish

Busy Monday afternoon for restaurant week, but Trish made sure we were all attended to, got to try everything in then menu and also made sure o got a special birthday dessert 💕 thank you for a great visit

Just back from an amazing meal tonight. The food was superb. Loved the Brazilian steaks, the spicy sausages.... The fillet steak! Even the bread rolls were delicious! Also loved the service! The staff are so friendly and kind. Love this place!

I visited Rios yesterday, taking advantage of their restaurant week promotion, and was wonderfully surprised by the whole evening :) We were served by Max and Jen, and I want to specifically mention how AMAZING they both were! Regularly checking up on us despite how busy the restaurant was, having a lovely joke on and remaining respectful. They went absolutely above and beyond for us, and I cannot thank them more. I would have to recommend this to absolutely anybody, the meats were so tender, juicy, and flavourful. The pork belly was my absolute favourite, and the IMMENSE salad bar! I expected the mock tails to be small (as they would be in most places) but they were a very good size and the ‘talking about bruno’ was delightful. If you’re second guessing a visit here - don’t. It’s worth every penny and more.

Prices have sky rocketed. Now I'd say it is over priced however when it was £16/£21 lunch then evening that was well worth it. This place has an amazing salad bar which is suitable for veggies. Vegetarians have a discounted price also as they aren't having the meat selections. The meats are cooked to your liking and you can really tell the difference between different cuts of meat, (flavours , textures) service is great in the jesmond branch. I have also been to the Newcastle branch aswell. Best salad going. Cocktails are amazing very nicely done. Recommend the rio special

It was a good dining experience. The staff were very welcoming. There was a Salad Bar, the mushroom sauce was very good and goes well with the different meat. The place was very presentable and classy. It was worth it.
