We have been there many times. Unfortunately, the staff treats people pretty poorly. Last time we were there, we were in the back of our group in line. They charged $5 cover. When we got up, it was $20 cover. We said we were with our friends that just paid $5. He said, you’re a “fucking liar”. I said I can have any of them prove it, and he said “fuck you, you’re not getting in”. Extremely aggressive. The guy said his name was “Chris” - I’m sure he’s lying, but it was the bouncer on 9/17/21.

Lost my glasses. Probably hit the worm to hard to boogie wonderland in the basement… I was really on one. When I awoke the next morning to 1,600 texts to my middle school ex-girlfriend I felt there was no way this could get worse. Until I reached to my bedside table and realized my glasses were gone. I returned two weeks later to the promised land carrying no myrrh, but i was greeted with an award greater than the birth of Christ. When I entered, upon a pedestal rested my glasses, in pristine condition Thank you to the Hangee-Uppe, the fun bar. 10/10 would boogie again… with contacts

A bouncer picked up my friend, dragged him up the stairs, and threw him outside completely unprovoked. We had never even seen this guy before he grabbed him. The other bouncers just stood there and stared. Paid $20 for a random guy to have a power trip…spend your money elsewhere

We went to a lot of places when we visited chicago, this one definitely has a dive bar kinda feel - floors are sticky, old beer smell as soon as you walk in... we felt right at home, lol. While a lot of the bars in the area are really expensive and uppity, this one was super low key and not overly packed full of boujee young people.

Great spot, we got there around 12:30 and waited for maybe half an hour to get in. We ended up chatting with the folks around us to pass the time. Once we got in there the bar was packed and hoppin. The two different levels each had their own vibe and music playing. Downstairs was a little tighter and less dancing, up stairs was the dance floor and it was packed. Would for sure go back next time I’m in Chicago and looking to keep the party going.

Doesn't follow covid guidelines. Saw a friend post a video of being there last night and it was jam packed, including the dance floor, not a mask in sight. Everyone on the dance floor was maskless and were clearly screaming into eachothers faces to be heard. Also, I used to live next door to this place and had multiple times when creeps leaving that bar would try to hit on me and then after ignoring them would follow me into my building and I'd have to rush to the elevator so they wouldn't follow me up to my apt.

After being assaulted by other customers, security grabbed my sister and I, preventing us from defending ourselves, and led us out the front door to where our assailants were waiting; keeping in mind there was 8 in their group and just my sister and I. We asked to be led out the back door which they refused. When we finally made our way out the front the group of 8 were waiting for us with batons and bats. This establishment has security that does not know how to assess the situation nor defend the paying customers. No woman should feel safe at this place

Went here for a company after party and it was a fun time. The bartenders were really nice and served free water to whoever needed it. The place is split up into two floors the top being more Latino and Hip-hop music and the bottom being more Rock and Pop music. The atmosphere was fun and energetic. The only thing I did not like were the TV's that displayed the dance floor. I was in my own corner enjoying the music and my drink so I was kinda just awkwardly displayed lol. All in all it was a great place and would be nice to go again with friends. :))

Was there one night. Upon closing, a bouncer was very rude with his shouting, so I said something like yeah yeah we get the point. The bouncer was on a power trip, his behavior being totally unnecessary as people were going slow because the exit door prevented a quick exit. I understand that a bar has to close at a certain time, that patrons can be unruly. But this individual was not the kind who I would have as a bouncer. I think he also worked as a bartender on the first level. John may have been his name. I talked to someone named wade about him, which was quite a while back.

Truthfully I think it is pathetic that this place charges $20 for cover. What do they Think they are Vegas? Honestly there are so many other bars I would recommend over hang up. Do not go here

I enjoyed my time, but the drinks made me feel nauseous most of the night. Would recommend sticking to beer here. But super fun for dancing and what not. Also pretty expensive cover wise

An absolute vibe, evoking the insanity and fun of collegiate nights out. $20-40 cover at the door (depending on the time)—which is insane—that you can pay cash or card

I went by myself to check out the place since I lived right around the corner. Place was packed, so it seemed like fun at first. However, bouncers kicked me out after two drinks and minding my own business. I still have no idea why I was kicked out.

We had a wonderful time here, great music, great dance floors and a wonderful crowd for my buddies bachelor party. $10/bud lights and a door fee seemed a little steep, but par for the course at larger Chicago bars

Tried to take me and my boyfriend’s REAL ID on a THURSDAY NIGHT. Were there the weekend prior for his 21st, not even a single GLANCE at our ID’s. You would think these bouncers work at the DMV because 4 of them had to check if they were real and didnt even scan them or ask us a single question. Didn’t get let in when we gave them second form of identification and they almost kept our ID’s. Another person in like got their actual ID taken and when asked for it back, they said if was “disclosed information”. Extremely rude & entitled employees that have no clue what they’re doing cause a girl who wasn’t even 21 got let in right after we were denied and she showed her REAL ID that was vertical too. Outside of line, talking to our friends about being mistreated by the bouncers - the short scrawny guy spoke up and tried to fight my boyfriend for “talking shit”, three of his colleagues by the door tried to all gang up on us and tell us to leave when we weren’t even in line. Terrible experience this thursday night, even worse cause last Saturday I had an amazing time.

Not only does this bar have bangerz only, it also has the best employees with the best service in Chicago! Lost an Apple Watch? Don’t worry, Bassam has your back! Thanks for an incredible night and for the terrific service

*********[!!! WARNING !!!! DO **NOT** GO HERE!!!!]*********** not only are the other negative reviews correct, it’s worse than what you think. I was literally minding my own business and out of the blue a security guard grabs me aggressively yelling at me that I have to leave immediately. My friends and I were so confused and they wouldn’t even explain why or let me get my things. When I said my jacket, keys, and my phone are not on me they barely let me get my jacket and wouldn’t let me get my phone. I’m currently in the process of filing a complaint with the better business bureau. Slightly better than average music that’s just top 40 with a slight twist is not worth the aggressive security, the garish yellow lighting, or the over priced drinks. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!

They gave my credit card to someone else, who then proceeded to charge it fraudulently at multiple other places. Just unbelievable. Do not start a tab here

Music was decent but bartender was not friendly, borderline rude. Understandable about it being a busy night but no need to act unkind towards customers.

I've been going to the Hangge Uppe for almost a decade. This is the best late night bar in all of Chicago. Great vibe, friendly staff, great environment!

very typical bar and would totally come back if it weren’t for the overly aggressive bouncers. He grabbed my friend and physically threw him out of the bar, asked why and gave no explanation.

Here's the thing: they have great service and I had a lot of fun, but within 10 minutes of being there a bouncer shoved some drunk guy and beer splashed all over me. That was my very first experience there.

$20 cover just to get in… I don’t know if that was true or they were just being rude. I haven’t even paid a cover that high for a nicer club. I’ve been there before with no cover.
