We are from out of town and we were very happy to find this place on a whim. Potato pancakes are light but delicious. I feel like the apple sauce was homemade. If it was it was really good. My husband had the special tonight (Friday) and it was the Sauerbraten, Excellent Choice! I ordered the Schnitzel which was excellent and highly recommend the Schnitzel gravy. Mmmm so good! LeAnn and Kenny have an excellent restaurant. We look forward to stopping in the next time we are in town. Keep up the excellent service and outstanding food!

I am of German heritage, but I have never dined at an authentic German restaurant. To be honest, the only German food I like is bratwurst. I absolutely loathe sauerkraut. Yuk! lol I’ve known about this restaurant for a few years, but never dined there. My family and I wanted to have brunch at a new restaurant this morning. I remembered this place and suggested we try it. I was hoping they would be serving lunch at 11 AM (the time we arrived) because I wanted to try schnitzel. But, they were still only serving breakfast. Regardless, the food was quite delicious! Our server was friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. I had the Bauernfrüstük. It was heaven on a platter! I definitely recommend!

An authentic taste of Germany tucked away in Roseland. Don’t let the unassuming building dissuade you, inside is a beautifully remodeled German restaurant. Several German beers are on tap available in .50 or full litres. The entries our all authentic from a second generation German chef. I’d recommend the weinersnitchel. There’s also Sunday brunch and a bakery with delicious deserts and baked goods.

So good! One of the best restaurants in the Bend. Beer, food and dessert were delicious. They have their own pastry chef. Place is small, parking in the back.

Authentically delicious! We happened upon this place on our way home from a trade show and are happy we stopped! On Fridays, they have free pretzels from 11-2. They were great! The homemade mustard is superb. I had the traditional schnitzel with German potatoes. Amazing! The man had the veal schnitzel sandwich that is delicious. If you are debating on stopping somewhere to eat during a road trip, it is worth the stop. The owner is delightful and the staff is friendly and accommodating.

Great restaurant run by a husband and wife. The staff was very attentive and recommended dish after dish to me. The best meal i had in a while. The honey cake was to die for. The Schweinshaxe was so tender, flavourful with crispy skin and the gravy was out of this world. When you are in south bend stop in . You wont be disappointed.

Whether you come for Sunday brunch or come for dinner over the weekend, you won't be disappointed. In house pastry chef hand makes all desserts and all ingredients are sourced locally!

Tucked away in Roseland, this place is an absolute hidden gem! It’s not in your usual downtown spots, but so worth the detour. The vibe here is super relaxing yet elegant - a perfect escape from the usual city buzz. It’s always spotlessly clean too, which I totally appreciate. If you're after a chill spot with great German eats, you've got to check this out!

With its unassuming frontage, you could easily walk past this place. However, step inside and be amazed. The food is superb, the service excellent and the ambience just right. It is the only place outside of Switzerland that I have ever tasted Spätzle. If you have never tried them, this place does them really well. The red cabbage and Sauerkraut are excellent as was the Rouladen. For dessert, we had the best Schwarzwaldertort that I have possibly ever tasted.

Excellent German Food with an amazing staff. Courteous waitress! The Stroganoph wasn't the best I ever had.. but it was close! Everything else was absolutely superb as well. If you are looking for German Cuisine in this area, Look no further. This place is quite hard to find though.

I chose this restaurant because of the menu I read online. We were planning a day trip to Michigan, so the fact this restaurant is 2.5 hours from home wasn't that big of a deal. I wanted to specifically have rouladen to honor the memory of my father in law and good friend who recently passed from cancer. They were the only two who had the patience to make enough rouladen to share with me. The online menu I was informed is incorrect, and rouladen is only served on Thursdays. Prior to coming to the restaurant, I did try calling a few times for reservations. However, I only received a voicemail. This is the reason for a 4 star review on service. The food is AMAZING! The employees hustled, and I hope the gentleman providing delightful live entertainment didn't get in hot water with his wife for staying a little later on a very busy Saturday night. Keep in mind there is nowhere to sit for 30-40 minutes while waiting on a table, and it is highly unlikely the hostess will have time to grab you a glass of wine or beer while you're waiting.

This place is a must try in my opinion if you are in the South Bend area. They just don’t make them like this anymore! Food was on point as we sampled a little bit of everything. My wife said it was the best Ruben she ever had, and my sampler plate was amazing as well as our pretzel charcuterie board. GREAT PLACE all around and the service was friendly and inviting. Will go again 100% sure of it next time in South Bend.

Best Brunch I've had in years. You must try the biscuits and German sausage gravy. You will want to go back for the best food on a Sunday morning, and you might as well come for dinner. They have specials on certain days during the week. Follow on Facebook and check out the menu. You won't be disappointed.

The updated interior still does not remind us of eating Germany but even with this the food is fantastic. We brought our German friends and they rated it 8 out of 10.

A total gem of a place! German cuisine and beers on draft. Must order the mimosa flight and ham shank! Utterly delish! The service was outstanding and having been a first timer they explained everything on the menu and were genuinely fantastic. Now let's talk dessert. The campfire cake was out if this world! Soft, melt in your mouth and go back for more. Will absolutely be going again. A total must!!

it's been a year since my last visit and the food has only improved (it was perfect last time!) The wait staff was prompt and extremely courteous (Thanks again Heather!) But what makes the place even more special was the small groups in the dining area who didn't know each other. Tell each other how good the food was! So run! do not walk to this place if you are in the South Bend area

The husband and I decided to go for my birthday and when we walked in, they were surprisingly busy! We got seated fairly quickly, told the specials, and eventually shown the drinks menu. After we ordered we were served our salads very quickly. 😀 Entrees took longer to arrive but still in a decent amount of time. The Service was VERY helpful, VERY friendly, and generally happy/smiling. Then we were asked about desserts and when my husband mentioned my birthday, they gave us a comped slice of whatever dessert I wanted! 🎂 It was quite enjoyable and I was wished "happy birthday" many times. Great staff, great atmosphere, only partial complaint is I didn't care for what I ordered as it was very rich and I'm not used to such flavors. Not their fault or problem. But I did enjoy the cake very much!! And I recommend this place to anyone willing to experience a taste of Germany itself. 🇩🇪

Got there at 6:30, orders taken about 35 minutes later and food came out around 8pm. Soup very good, cordonbleu was tasty, other people said their meals were ok. Do to business several main dishes were not available.

Absolutely fantastic!! I've visited Weiss' Gasthaus on several occasions now and every time the food, drinks, and service has been a 10 out of 10. Weiss' Gasthaus is hands down one of the best restaurants in South Bend. I have and will continue to recommend this restaurant to all of my family and friends looking for amazing food and drinks.

Absolutely amazing! This food could cure cancer! Sunday brunch is what I normally do after heavy night of drinking. I get the breakfast schnitzel with some biscuits and gravy. Woo boy, do yourself a favor and try it out! Best kept secret in south bend, period!

Very good German food and fast, friendly service. A good value and FAR superior to the better-known but over-hyped and over-priced Mader's in Milwaukee where we also ate recently. Recommended.

The food is fantastic and authentic. The atmosphere is authentic. Fantastic service. You won't get quality like this anywhere else unless you go to Germany. The price is reasonable especially if you bought it and did it yourself. Everything is fantastic no disappointments.

My favorite place to eat. Always great and friendly service and they handle busy days quickly and efficiently. Never had a bad experience here and my family's been going for years. The Belly and Brussels is my favorite, its one of the only foods I actively think about during the week. The atmosphere is very relaxed and rustic. They have lots of cool decorations to look at. Also the black forest cake is to die for. Overall amazing, it does get busy fast but I've never had to wait for a table. Highly recommend if you're on the fence about it.

We've been to Weiss' twice in the last several weeks. Service in this family-owned and operated restaurant has been exceptional as has the food. On a recent Saturday, we enjoyed prime rib dinners while listening to live music. Some of our favorites, besides the prime rib, have included mushroom soup, sauerkraut, red cabbage, potato salad, rolls, and the entrees. Highly recommend!

This place is amazing! I sat in the bar. Wonderful, quaint atmosphere. Very relaxing and friendly. I enjoyed the Reuben sandwich. Oh my goodness! So fresh and the corned beef was amazingly tender. I followed it up with a Blueberry Streusal. I know this is such a cliche, but it was to die for! Chef Kenny Weiss you rock!!!!!!

Great food and excellent service. Save room for their desserts. First visit but there will be more. 😋 Second visit was family (12 of us) celebration of Dad's 80th birthday and Mom for mother's day. Jojo knocked himself out for us and the chef's wife came out to check on us a couple times as well. Food was great, service outstanding, and memories were made. Thank you to the Weis Gasthaus team!!!

Was little skeptical about coming here as we are from out of town, but this was a fantastic experience! Service was great and they made excellent recommendations. Food was amazing and homemade, and the prices are fair for the quality of food. The dishes we chose would have been twice as much in our home city. 5/5 will definitely be coming back next time we're in town.

Wonderful staff. Fantastic food. Prices were good. Definitely going back and recommend for others. My husband and daughter went to Europe recently and they said the food tasted almost exactly like it did in Germany.
