I don't eat ice cream much but I did enjoy the ice cream and outdoor seating is nice. the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The only downside is it's a bit pricey but I will definitely come back when I'm in this area.

I’ve driven past this place for 35 years and have never once stopped in for a tasty frozen treat. That is until my boyfriend mentioned how he had eaten there since he was kid and said how good it was. Checked it out with my daughter and him and let me tell you it was super amazing. Once you walk in the door it’s like you’re inside an old ice cream shop. But the best part is they serve more than just ice cream. Cheeseburgers, fries, mozzarella sticks, nachos you name it. It’s munchies heaven, seriously get one of everything. And while you’re at it give them all of your money. Highly recommend this place if you’re driving through town.

Always seen this small ice cream shop decided to try it out and it did not disappoint. Ordered a funnel cake Sunday and it was good the make the funnel cakes to order so it paired very well with the ice cream. They have a big menu with different choices and they also sell fast food burgers and hot dogs.

Polar bear is only open during the summer but they have everything you want! Green River soda pop, Sundays ice cream cones, frozen chocolate covered bananas homemade chicken sandwiches nachos Chicago hot dogs yum yum yum place has been around since 1948 and a big polar bear sign will greet you picnic tables outside small place with a lot of flavor!

I'm 40! And my family has been coming here since I could walk! Now I get to bring my babies!! We were devastated they had to shut down for a while but when we were driving by one day and seen them cleaning and getting ready to open back up we called EVERYONE!!! We love this place! They're like family you never met who serve you delishis ice cream!!!🍦😋 (And they have good food!!) We won't ever stop supporting this business! ♥️

Great place to bring the family after the zoo. Super close, but the parking lot can be a little tricky. They have all the things I remember from my childhood that my kids hate. The kids liked the ice cream so we survived.

I've been coming here for years. This is a summer go-to spot that I've enjoyed over and over again. Everything that I've tried on the menu is delicious. The service is great and I love the family atmosphere.

Service was kinda bad. They lost our order and others. They told us the grill was closed, but provided no explanation. Fries were delicious, but they didn't offer ketchup. I ordered a hot caramel sundae, but they gave me hot fudge. I didn't really care, but the fudge was almost like Hershey's syrup. The ice cream was good. Would have preferred better nuts than the tiny chopped peanuts. Despite all this, I'll probably be back soon. **Edit** I've been back twice since this review. The service was great. The soft serve is the best around.

Have been going here since a child. I now live in suburbs so when in city I make sure to stop. Was there few weeks ago and taste just as it did in 80’s/90’s now had the pleasure to take my daughter. Can’t go wrong with their twist, ice cream or any of their ice cream huge portions for fair price. Lines are always long yet the kids always move the lines fast. Also see polar bear ice cream mentioned as one of best in IL in many parent and family friend groups near and far and they definitely aren’t lying go try it out. You won’t be disappointed. FYI: says cash only as they prefer, but with the times they will except a credit card with no extra charges just ask.

Polar Bear is the best for an ice cream cone with family. It’s like a Norman Rockwell cover. And if you did not know they have the best fries in Chicago area; don’t forget a hotdog with your cone.
