THE CAKE SHAKE WAS EVERY BIT OF WHAT YOU HEAR ABOUT. Delicious. I had an Italian beef with both peppers and Chicago dogs. I wish we had these in more states. I didn’t get to encounter any employees as my order was for take out and all I had to do was find my order in the online order area. The decor and setup was great for the retro diner look. The place was absolutely hoppin when I arrived.

I bought the famous five number 2. 2 hot dogs, French fries, and coke. My second visit I ate chicken sandwich broil it is really good. Delicious and enough 😋 Always I like to visit that place 2 hours or more. For me, it's passionate to see the workers and balance between their orders. It's an amazing place and particular ambient.

My first visit at a Portillo's, and it was a great one. I had eaten an Italian beef sandwich a few days before at a fancy restaurant and was surprised how much I liked it. So when I heard there was a local chain specializing in it, I had to try it. Recommendations said to get it with extra gravy, and everything looked so good I ended up getting the big sandwich, fries and a strawberry and lemon cake shake. I ate every bite. The food lives up to the reputation, and if you've never been, you owe it to yourself and the fine people of the greater Chicago area to experience it.

A friendly location with patient and friendly staff. Clean dining areas and hot, fresh food coming out quickly! I enjoyed my iconic Chicago fare here and enjoyed every bit of it. I actually decided to get their Plant-based dog and I couldn’t tell that it was an alternative. Super soft, steamed poppy seed bun and tasty relish, tomatoes, pickles, and peppers. Onion rings came out hot and perfectly crispy, and their small shake was twice as big as what I was expecting. The texture is a little icy but the standard vanilla flavor shines though and makes it all very enjoyable. Thanks Portillos!

Ordered delivery from this Portillo’s location from the Portillo’s website for the first time. The cheese cup along with the fries were spilled throughout the bag because the had been packed on top of two sandwiches. EVERYTHING was extremely cold to my surprise being that the location is fairly close. I tried the spicy chicken sandwich that barely had any of the sauce on the sandwich. I gave two stars only because the chocolate cake was good and fresh.

If your looking for food that screams Chicago, look no further! This quick service restaurant had a large list of good tasting Chicago style foods! The hotdog was very good and something I have never tasted before! The interior was very cool with lots to look at! The service although brief could use a little polishing (Order takers).

For anyone who likes a nostalgic American restaurant this is the place for you. Great Americana decor. It's an order & pick up your food restaurant. It wasn't crowded when we arrived so we had a great dining experience. I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. Delicious.

Food was good. I ordered a fast pack for my daughter's birthday with 8 cheeseburgers and it was a good deal. I like how all the toppings were on the side so it wouldn't be soggy. BUT the cake was very very slim on the frosting this time. Which was a bummer because that is our favorite part. I included pics..

A very atmospheric restaurant. several times had experience with problems with orders in the system, and confusion of orders. But client-orientation and prompt resolution of the problem covers all the shortcomings. I put 5/5, for the atmosphere 6/5😉

I eat here fairly often because I work in the area and they consistently forget part of my order or just plainly get it wrong. This is supposed to be TWO chicken breasts. Willing to bet my house it isn’t. $20 for a spaghetti and a chicken breast is ridiculous. Food is good but half of the employees look bothered to be there.

Awesome 50's style restaurant. I knew every song played because I grew up in this era. The timely artifacts brought back so many memories. It was a perfect reminder of the days gone by. The food was so unique. I had my first strawberry Lemon cake SHAKE. Never drank cake through a STRAW. It was AWESOME. If I lived here, I'd be in trouble, because I'd have another. The Italian beef/sausage was OUTSTANDING. It's an experience that has to be realized first-hand. Since I got back home, I tell EVERYONE about PORTILLOS & BARNELLI'S. GREAT JOB!!!

Heard a lot about this place as a "must go to" kind of place with excellent food. Food looked very appetizing but the fries were cold and lifeless. Chili dog was average. My friend really liked the meatball sandwich she had. Her fries were crummy too. The vintage/retro vibe there was awesome - pictures don't do it justice! Staff was uber friendly.

Pretty decent experience for the most part. Sue the older cashier with the glasses wouldn't give me my receipt back. I guess I had too many french fry vouchers for her. Told me to listen for #87 instead of just giving me my receipt 🤷‍♀️ It was the Hispanic woman named Cielo with the black shirt who made this a pleasant visit. I didn't have any special requests from her at all. She simply gave the customers their food orders at the pickup window. It was just the way that she treated me was so professional and I want to say loving. I say THANK YOU and I see why you're already a supervisor!!❤❤ God bless you!

This is an awesome Portillo's! The food and service were great! We loved the '50s diner theme for the decor. I had the Chicago Garden dog and a large fry. I am not vegan or a vegetarian but this Garden dog is a great option to a regular hot dog. It tastes just as good as any regular all beef hot dog I have ever had. So don't knock it till you've tried it!

Who else has chaps just standing around to clean on demand? Great big beef. The best and onl6 good crinkle fries I've ever had. And the chocolate cake is probable one of the best deals in Chicago. Amaxing flavourful & texture for much less than a bakery. Love portillos!

Family friendly self-service with lots of Chicago charm. Themed in the bygone era of diners, chock full of interesting memorabilia, and with hits from the 60s playing in the background the ambiance is not subtle but fun. The food is high quality Chicago style hot dogs, chicken sandwiches and hamburger goodness, with decent pasta, salad and even a veggie dog option. Delicious chocolate cake and the famous cake shake are worth the bounty of calories. Good value and easy in and out or take out.

Nice rainy day in Ky had to retrieve from the freezer my Chicago famous Portilla's Italian beef with all the sides home delivery. It made my homesick feeling go away I miss my many diverse good food selections.

First time trying this i wanna say WOW DELICIOUS OMG!! 😋 I had of course the Famous Chicago Style hot dog and the Beef sub very tasty.. Big menu items too choose from also i tried there new strawberry Lemon milkshakes also delicious. Family friendly place plenty of seats. I came around 7:00pm not a lot of people inside they do have a drive-thru long lines. Great service. Very clean also. I definitely recommend if you want too get great tasty food for the first time in Chicago too try this place hands down.

Typical Portillos. I had never been to the Schaumburg location before. Staff was friendly and you order everything from one register. Decor is more '50's diner than other restaurants, a lot of chrome and a lot of fun.

Portillo’s is basically a Chicago fast food icon. There are many locations around Chicagoland. This one is on Golf Road a couple lights past the Woodfield mall in Schaumburg. We ordered 2 fries, 1 chocolate cake and 2 Italian big beef sandwiches (big beef has extra meat) with giardiniera peppers. After repeating our simple order of 2 of the same exact sandwich, when we got home we found the girl only rang 1 with peppers and 1 plain! The sandwiches are a nice change up from our usual Buona Beef. However paying extra for peppers and only getting about a teaspoons worth on the sandwich was not favorable. Buona Beef charges less for peppers and loads the sandwiches generously! All in all the beef here is good but they need to train order takers at the registers to do a better job. Also don’t skimp on the toppings especially when you’re charging .70 cents per sandwich!

If you like hot dogs and chocolate cake this place is for you! The cake shake is also amazing. First time see eating there and the hype was definitely true about it. Will definitely eat there again on my next trip to the Windy City!

One of my favorite spots to get food when I go back to Chicago. My go to choices are bacon double cheeseburger and Chocolate Cake Shake with cheese fries. Onion rings are a popular menu from them so please try them when you stop by near Portillo's. Also, the interior and decorations are based on a traditional American diner, which is super cool. I didn't order pasta this time, but pasta is also great to check out. Enjoy the beefy time.

I finally got my Chicago Hot Dog thanks to this place. It was my first so I guess it is really hard to compare however, it was so yummy! I also tried the sausage and it was very good as well. If your visiting IL and want to try a Chicago Hot Dog this is a great spot to go. Oh and they also have milkshakes.
