Unfortunately not returning again. Great hotel, beautiful interior however over the last few months there’s been a noticeable decline. My last 2 visits the food has taken over an hour to arrive (Cesar salad) , it’s been prepared with tasteless ingredients (not to the same standard as 2022) and the server was completely absent in the process. Another couple next to us waited over 1.5hrs on their food in which the process was not managed well enough given their experience. Do better. Huge potential to be the amazing hotel it once was.

Really nice looking pub, great location, and good service but... unfortunately the food was absolutely horrible! Ordered the $30 Angus burger with skin on fries, the photos on the app look great but unfortunately that was not what was served. Burger was all low quality ingredients (apart from the bun) and the paddy was extremely dry.. the chips were also not as advertised and were really poor quality! If you're looking for a pub for a beer this place would be nice but definitely wouldn't recommend for food

Renovated rooms are great but a little small. Well appointed and a bonus having the pub downstairs. Good meals, great drinks at reasonable prices. A number of secluded places to sit for a quiet conversation. This was our third time here and it doesn't disappoint.

Had a midweek dinner here and oh my, what a meal. The food is full of flavour, well presented, excellent serving sizes and value for money. One of the best hotel meals going around. Highly recommend!

We went for a meal after the grand prix thinking it would be full of fans and great food, it was more loud and sketchy then the experience we expected. The wagu burger was great and chips were amazing but the two fish dishes we received were both raw and had uncooked vegetables

Our room was small, but comfortable and had everything we needed. Nice new bathroom, very comfortable bed with lots of pillows, a coffee machine and Tea Drop teas provided. Street parking was no trouble and the hotel is right across the road from the train station! Check-in, check-out process very streamlined and no fuss. A great base for a couple of nights in wintry Melbourne.

Great team. Amazingly friendly staff. I state din one of the rooms upstairs, which was super clean. The bar was well managed, and a great place for an afternoon beer. Look forward to being back here next year!

Did you say Plant Base BEST Burger ever? Here it is!! Last night I went with my partner (who is vegetarian for more than 10 years) We ordered the Plant Base Burger and after the first bite my partner though the Chef gave us a meat burger. That is how good this burger it is! Apart from this, the staff were lovely! Anthia (not sure if the name is correct) went to the Kitchen to ask the Chef for the brand under our request. If you like cheese, the Burrata…. Yummy! It is in the specials and I hope they decide to add it in the Menu because it is a total winner. Thanks so much for the amazing treatment, the smiles and the courtesy. We will be back every single time we want a Burger!

The kitchen was struggling today. We waited almost 2 hours for our food. Seeing almost every other table in the dining area also waiting was a grim sight. The wait staff was great, they did their best to save the situation.

Was much better than before they extended their restaurant into where the public bar was. Will be interesting hour packed out will be for when the footy is on, with half the place empty

Called in for a beer on a hot day and watch NFL. The staff, overall vibe and background music was so good I stayed for lunch. Beer choices (and wines etc) were varied and the food options…. Steaks and vegetarian options abound but I went with crumbed schnitzel with a twist. Caper butter and parmesan (of course I added a side of peppercorn gravy)… On the 96 tram from Melbourne CBD…. Can’t go wrong!!!

Very good food and service although the prices have been raised considerably over the past few years. Unfortunately this means it's no longer a regular spot.

Had a beautiful birthday dinner here for me and my partner! Marcus helped serve us and gave us a beautiful birthday card and voucher for our birthday! Crème brûlée was amazing!!! Perfect night! Will definitely be back! Thanks again Marcus and everyone else who served us!

I recently booked a section of the bar area for my 40th and loved it! Super relaxed, could hold 40+ of my friends comfortably. Great atmosphere and food. The staff were super helpful when I wanted to booked the venue, and so fun on the night! I live local to MP Hotel - I’d highly recommend to anyone considering holding a celebration! Especially if like me you’re looking for something relaxed. I found when I was contacting venues a lot of them want you to throw heaps of $$ down, which is a bit overwhelming - but these guys were so helpful and there was no pressure at all.

I am a local and really try to support this pub however the manager makes that a little hard. I don’t leave bad reviews if it’s a result of one poor experience as I don’t think that’s fair. I have been to the MPH so many times. The young staff members are just lovely however I feel the manager is quite an unhelpful person especially for the hospitality industry. Reason for my 1 star rating is result of a couple of instances. One being the time my husband and I ordered the lunch special and the manager couldn’t put it through as it was finished. Apparently it finished at 2pm and no joke I asked the time and it was 2.01pm. I should mention we were standing at the bar waiting at the time for the manager to finish her lunch. Then today I sat in one of the tables in the restaurant (which was completely empty) to make a work call in quiet as the front bar was so busy with Super Bowl and the way I was talked to by the manager was really not nice. As I said I want to come to this venue but it’s hard when the manager isn’t exactly hospitable.

The tall guy Harry gave us FANTASTIC service. Our group couldn’t have been happier to be taken care of by Haz and his team. We’ll be back next week 💪🏻

Needed somewhere for an overnight stay as we had a wedding to attend nearby. For what we needed, it was perfect. Good place to get ready, then come back to have a good night's sleep. We were at the back, so there was no view, but it was super quiet. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and we both slept like we were at home. Bathroom was well appointed, shower was hot, plenty of mirrors. The whole room was lovely and clean, heaps of power points - there was a pod coffee machine but no coffee or other items like sugar etc. Great having the bar downstairs for a few drinks prior to heading out.

Was there for the Grand Prix on Sunday, the hotel did a great job in setting up the external marquee and plenty of areas to watch the race inside. Great day and great venue👍🍹

Had a rough day today, the Parma was ace. Quick and pleasant service at the bar. Loved the lighting. Made for a lovely evening for me and the family.

The place is good as usual! But …I’ve been here before and the food was much better and the service was very slow and it wasn’t even full … which is more disappointed. Plus one the beef burger was completely burned… Sadly because used to be a good place.

Got served by a lovely man named Darren the other day. He recommended some great food (the chicken parma was delicious, as was the apple crumble). I will definitely be back again.

Travelled from Geelong for a family Mothers Day Lunch - well worth the trip! Large menu with something to suit all tastes. The food was delicious and meals a generous sized serving. Although the pub was very busy, staff were friendly, attentive, but not intrusive. We were greeted by a staff member as we entered to pub, and the atmosphere was great. This hotel is in a great location with parking around the vicinity . Good choice!

We were looking for a place to catch up midweek and grab a steak. we went in without a reservation and was seated in the dining room which has great ambiance for such a big place. I’d imagine it gets very busy on weekends it was busy but quiet so perfect to catch up and converse comfortably. We ended up getting the Waygu beef pie, peas and a Margarita. We sat afterwards in the front bar they have tellys to watch the sports. Plenty of Indoor and outdoor seating options, wide range menu catering for all budgets. 10/10 I would eat here again.

Always love visiting here in winter. It has a great interior and really snug and warm. The food is always good. Really enjoyed my steak tartare and beetroot salad. The bone marrow is one of my go to sides. The burger and salmon was good. Steaks are excellent. The sides are all good. We highly recommend and always return.

We visited a couple of months ago and enjoyed Sunday lunch but today was a different story. There was no longer a choice of meats. The pork was fine, the crackling was tasty (but cold) . The ‘crispy roast potatoes’ were boiled potatoes which had been sitting in oil (not roasted at all) and the Yorkshire pudding was very oily. There was some gravy. Service was fine in parts but inattentive for large parts. I did give my feedback but I don’t really think anyone cared. Overall the experience was disappointing.

On our way to a party in St Kilda, looking for somewhere to eat, saw The Middle Park had parking so dropped in. Made to feel welcome, Good selection of food. Roast Root Vegetable salad was full of flavour. Service was good.

Client services aren't their top priority. I stood for 2 minutes while the bartender looked at me without asking or communicating. This makes you wonder about how they perceive their clients—like they're insignificant or perhaps fools. I won't recommend eating or even having a beer there since the service is subpar. End up across the road and having fun, me and the family!

Man, I just paid $67 for a Scotch Filled that looked, tasted and had the texture of a rump steak. I asked for medium rare and, I have been ordering Scotch fillets at pubs for over 40 years, it was dry and tough. If I had ordered a rump steak I would have given these guys a 5 star rating. For this meal, I only give them one. Why? (because I can’t go lower) and because when I was asked what I had been served I was told it was a Scotch fillet!! Making it the worst piece of meat that I have ever had! Lazy, pretentious and a complete RIP OFF! F this place!!

Had lunch at the hotel today and it was sensational. Lovely menu, nice beers and friendly and attentive staff. And all at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

We have enjoyed dining here several times, the floor staff are delightful, the food is delicious & generous, the only hiccup is we have experienced is the plating up, twice the Steak has arrived only just warm or a Sauce is missing. We are locals & will continue to dine out supporting our Hotel. Ciao Bron & Michael

Let's be real, only got good things to say. The dining room was so comfortable and welcoming. Staff were fantastic and the food was absolutely unreal not to mention beer selection was on point. Definitely recommend getting down there, even if it's just for a few drinks in the beer garden or bar. I'll for sure be coming back.

Steaks were great however we were disappointed that each time we ordered something we were told it was sold out. Oysters, beef pie, scotch fillet. Couldn’t even get a coffee as they were out of milk.

Caught up with a friend for lunch at this hotel as we love the area! Was rapt with our choice as the food was amazing and the service was brilliant. Meals are a perfect size so you can share plates, then you get to try more of the yummy menu. Would definetly recommend to others, I know I will be going back!!

Booked Xmas lunch with the family without expecting too much given the price per head was very reasonable compared to other venues. Staff were super attentive and from the time we arrived it showed that there is great management and staff training. Excellent day, great vibe in the room, food abundant to the point of excess but overall one of the best experiences eating out. Thank you.

Had a business lunch here. Steaks were the flavor. They were 5/5 no question, but like all good things you pay for it. If you're happy to pay north of $50 for a steak plus sides, go for it. Its certainly top price for a pub meal

  • 3/5 Thomas M. 2 years ago on Google
Good atmosphere. Friendly staff with very good service. Beer was cold. Food was overpriced and overall bang average. Would come here for a catch up and then head somewhere else for a decent feed.

Had a special boys’ lunch there recently. Service was friendly and attentive. The steaks were very good. The bar area gradually filled with people wandering in from the park etc. Great friendly atmosphere. I felt proud taking an interstate guest there.

Great pub meal and outside seating in the ‘car pars’ was supported with heaters dotted sensibly around. Staff knowledgeable and friendly. The food was amazing .. huge parma and delicious chips. The pea risotto was so delicious. Our first meal out - it was delicious. Looks gorgeous inside. We’ll be back. :)

A classic Victorian era hotel that provides a broad selection of food , wine and beers and an extensive menu . The northern outdoor area is brilliant and well attended. Providing a number of different areas that caters for every occasion .

Never had a wagyu pie, it was awesome. Great selection of beers. Apparently there could be a better selection of low alcohol tap beer but otherwise great.

The review is only focused on the restaurant. Great spot to grab a beer after an outdoor/indoor exertion or a relaxing walk at Albert park, which is what we did. In a warm highlighted by the decor, cheerful staff and the frequent jolly families and middle-aged crowd, we enjoyed our conversation (not at all muddled by loud music) with frequently stolen glances at the Footy match on the television. There's ample space to move about and another dining section apart from the bar. The food was delicious, especially chicken parmigiana (cheese-loaded) and cocktails. Dropped a star which I felt necessary for the just-above-average priced beer and food.

Came to celebrate my Mum's Birthday and had a really lovely lunch. Really enjoyed the Tomahawk. Margarita and Aperol were really good too. Whilst not on the cheap side for a pub meal, we did order the most expensive steak on the menu and the portion size was plenty without sides, starters or deserts. Staff were super friendly and Sophie, our waitress, was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.

The room itself was alright. The location is good as it's directly across a tram station, in between downtown and St. Kilda and the Middle Park Beach or Albert Park. But... Other than promised in the description, there is no parking at the hotel itself. You have to walk two blocks and park at the street parking (or risk a ticket directly in front of the hotel). Additionally the service regarding both, hotel and restaurant was quite poor: at checkout I haven't been asked whether everything was alright or not. Pretty much the same when I had dinner at the hotels restaurant one evening. I wasn't even handed cutlery, napkin and water (I had a burger but still).

I recently booked a number of rooms at the Middle Park Hotel for some family and friends to stay in while visiting for our wedding. The rooms, location and bar / restaurant were absolutely perfect. All of the guests really enjoyed their stay. The accommodation manager Lian was incredibly helpful and friendly to deal with throughout the booking process despite my endless questions / changing plans! Would highly recommend a stay at the Middle Park Hotel.

Dropped in for a beer with a mate. The place looks amazing. Shame I don’t live on that side of town and didn’t get to try the restaurant. Also has the hotel rooms up stairs. Good to see some heritage preserved in Melb!

Tried some ( extremely small ) oysters that arrived on a smattering of rock salt and no ice, I tried one which obviously wasn’t chilled and sent them back. They were replaced with an identical looking serve and again sent them back as they weren’t cold! We also had some crumbed calamari which was actually good. We had some beef sliders which tasted ok but were tepid. Next came the Caesar salad complete with limp lettuce, bland dressing, processed chicken cut into slices and bizarrely whole rashes of bacon. The beer was good. Never again.

We had a lovely time at the Middle Park Hotel which was our second stay. Courtney at the reception was so lovely and helpful. We had the King suite this time which was huge with an amazing bathroom. We will be back a third time for sure.

Middle Park hotel has gone throught its up and down over the last few years, but just dropping in tonight we had an excellent experience. The food was great and the service was fantastic. A stand out was Chali/Charley behind the bar. She was lovely with great attention to detail and excellent customer service. Thanks for a great night MPH.

We stayed in the double room and it was extremely small - two people can’t stand without getting into each other’s way. Reception was unattended and did not answer the phone each of the three times we reached out including for checking out. Our room had not been cleaned properly - there was a beer can under the bed. No lift so we had to carry our luggage up and down two flights of stairs. Edgy and modern finishes but wouldn’t come back.

Great neighbourhood vibe on a Friday night. Cold beers and hot fries. Helpful recommendations from the friendly bar staff which made our drink and food selection easy throughout the night. Thanks James & co for a relaxed and happy evening. 👍 👍

Stayed 2 nights with 2 friends, fantastic location, rooms were very clean & comfortable. Can hear some noise at night while the bar is open but not bad & is turned off at suitable time. Staff were brilliant & highly recommended for a few days away. Please note the staircase up to the room is quiet steep, that being said we managed to get our bikes up & down OK.

We had the most lovely overnight stay, the manager Courtney was amazingly helpful and generous, and the King's room was excellent. This place is an absolute gem, hidden away in a great location, a short walk down to Beaconsfield parade and the beach, and right across from a great cafe too, the perfect respite overall! (and I don't usually write reviews but the place and people were so good i feel compelled to!)

Had a great stay at Middle Park Hotel the staff were so welcoming and made our stay enjoyable. The room was great, we stayed on the 2nd floor so it was a quiet room, no lifts which wasn’t a problem to us just agave the legs a work out. The food at the hotel was outstanding and service was fine for us no delays even though one evening it was busy but the staff worked so hard. The location is great a quick tram ride into the city or to St Kilda and the tram stop is opposite the hotel. It was nice to have a couple of cafes opposite to have breakfast in the morning. I would definitely come back to this hotel and recommend to others… thank you Middle Park staff for everything.
