We did “The Lost Tomb” escape room with a group of 6. The puzzles and interactions with the room were great and pretty creative, but a bit too straight forward. The room had no red herrings and felt a bit simple. The staff who introduced us to the room also didn’t seem too enthusiastic. They also didn’t want to explain the last bonus game at the end due to “running out of time”. This was after starting us late because the previous group “ran over”.

We did the School of Magic and felt the entire experience fell flat. There was zero immersion and the storyline didn’t at all translate to our puzzles or made sense. Staff were not properly trained or simply didn’t care about how to create the atmosphere needed for an escape room. In fact, we were told that our door was open and that we could leave at anytime! Escape, who? Built in a warehouse with just essentially subdividers between each room, you could hear the patrons/workers outside chatting and walking around. A great way to take you out of the experience. Puzzles deviated from conventional escape room rules, where normally once solved there was no return to that subsequent area, disrupting the flow. Clues were handed to us like candy through a walkie-talkie (nice modern touch there), most of the time unprompted. Again, atypical, considering clues in normal escape rooms are limited, adding to the excitement. Oh, and no clock. A pretty fundamental element considering you are trying to break free from a place under a time limit. But, hey, our door was never locked to begin with. Lack of story telling, immersion, and strange puzzles — not an escape room by any stretch of the imagination. But being The Mystery Rooms after all, maybe the jokes on me.

I've been to this escape room twice. First time did The Lost Tomb which was fantastic and super fun! Love that the room was filled with sand to go along with the theme. Host at the the was super friendly and really organised. Second time last Sat 19/3, did The Last Stand. The room itself has trickier puzzles which was great. But the host, I felt, was quite .... intrusive. He kept popping in whenever and even at times when we didn't ask for him. He did mention to us that they were running a bit behind. So that made us feel like he was rushing us to get out of this room. One of the players even had to stop him from giving us a clue as she was just about to solve it. That was disappointing on our end as we had really good time last time. Overall, love the puzzles!

We've done over 10 escape rooms and this was excellent! The quality of the puzzles was very high and the staff were great! The entire floor was covered in sand which was so unlike anything we'd done before! The toilets were also really cool (shaped like phone boxes). A lot of attention has been paid to every element of the experience - I would love to come back and try some more rooms.

Really awesome experience! The staff were really into it and gave us a great atmosphere. Prices decrease by about $2/pp, the more members you have in your party. Eg, if you have 4 people it’s $48 pp, we had 5 so it was $46pp. Bookings essential - we wouldn’t have got in if we didn’t book in advance.

Had an awesome time - such fun and interesting puzzles and themes kept us guessing the whole way through. Sapphira was an awesome host, the witch character made the whole experience next level. Thanks for having us!

One of the best escape rooms in Melbourne. I have been to many escape rooms throughout Melbourne, and I must say very few places put as much attention to detail. Mystery Rooms Melbourne has three rooms (with the fourth room coming in the near future) all of which will make you feel as if you have travelled back in time in order to find a mysterious item and escape the room. I should state that these rooms are quite challenging as there is a lot to do for the given duration. Making it all the more satisfying when you get out on time. Would highly recommend!

My family and I recently went and experienced the HP themed room for my daughters 9th birthday and we had such a blast. They were super lovely here and very accommodating for families with young children. My 3 YO was able to just come along, even though he couldn't work out riddles he could still participated and enjoy the experience with us which was amazing. Definitely will be coming back to try out other rooms. Thank you for an amazing time.

Did a medieval themed one with group of 8. This is probably the 4th escape room I’ve done and is definitely the best so far. High production value, great value for money. I originally booked for 10 and after 2 people couldn’t come they refunded those 2 spots the same day. Fantastic staff. Great time. Would recommend 4-8 people for this room as there is a lot involved and we got out with little time to spare requiring 3 clues along the way.

This escape room was the most enjoyable experience. The staff that hosted us, Sapphira, was awesome, super friendly and really enhanced the experience. I loved the whole atmosphere of the place, very well thought out. The puzzles were unique and creative.

I walked in off the street with a friend at 3:50pm and was advised there was a 4pm slot available. However there was a "4 person minimum", not because the room needed 4 people but they wanted you to pay for 4. Obviously the room wasnt booked and wasnt going to be booked but we had to pay $200 instead of $100. The room was pretty good, sadly some of the puzzles weren't working and we managed to get out 2 minutes short of the all time record with only 2 people. Really think you should review your 4 person minimum.

My friends and I were visiting from Canberra and thought the Lost Tomb sounded fun! We had such an amazing time that we ended up staying another hour to play the Medieval room, too! Awesome rooms & fantastic customer service! Jess was an awesome GM! :) Can't wait to come and do the last two rooms!!

Absolutely awesome escape room (we did the Medieval room) with amazingly immersive settings, creative and fun puzzles, and wonderfully friendly staff. We went as a group of 4 and had a great time - there was something for everyone and although we were 6 mins overtime, the staff let us finish as they didn't want to interrupt the fun we were having (we were the last group of the night and they very kindly stayed back to let us finish). Thankyou for a great experience - we will definitely be back to do the others!

Had such a fun afternoon here on Saturday! One of the best escape rooms I've been to in Melbourne. The staff were super friendly and helpful, which made the experience extra enjoyable. We loved the Lost Tomb room! :)

After a very disappointing experience at Mystery Rooms Rooftop Train, the owner listened to our concerns and we were invited back to play at the Fitzroy venue. We played The Last Stand and definitely had a much better experience and I would recommend this room to others. The game masters were attentive, and provided hints without being too overbearing. There was a unique element to this game which I don't want to explain but it was definitely a welcome twist. One thing did unfortunately go wrong and 2 of the locks were mixed up. It didn't significantly affect our game and the staff pointed us in the right direction to correct the error and allowed extra time. We generally found the puzzles the right amount of challenging and logical, however some of the puzzles were guessable, and we didn't even figure out one of the puzzles, and managed to complete the task with skipping past the puzzle. I will definitely consider returning to the Fitzroy venue to do the other rooms.

SO MUCH FUN! Did all three in one day but I think it made the experience even better! Definitely loved each room but have to say The Lost Tomb was my favourite. Why?... sand! Lol. Definitely added to the atmosphere.

Excellent staff and very well designed puzzles and rooms - however - the rooms are now old and worn out. Some items no longer work, are dirty, crumpled or broken. This detracts from the experience and leaves you second guessing if the puzzle is solved/wrong/broken.

Tried all the rooms and found them all doable. Some puzzles were pretty confusing but overall it was a great time.

A fun experience for all. Went with both my parents and hubby. We drove all the way from Warburton and was caught in a bad traffic. Staff were very accommodating and gave us a speed briefing. Puzzles and games are challenging yet well thought of. They gave free drink at the bar at the end of the game. Good refreshment. Will definitely come back to complete all the other rooms. And am looking forward to the Narnia themed room.

We had a “team day” with colleagues at The Mystery Rooms and everyone absolutely loved it. The rooms were awesome and the staff were lovely.

Challenging (in a good way) and detailed rooms. Last week, our group of friends completed the 'Medieval Quest' and just managed to escape in time. The puzzles were engaging and very challenging. The rooms and decorations were set up as though you were in another world and this made the experience much more special!

The staff were absolutely amazing, super accommodating and friendly. We had planned for a special event and the staff were more then happy to cooperate. We had done the Magic Themed room, the puzzles were fun and the atmosphere was magical. Will definetly be coming back!

The best escape room i have been to in my life hands down. We did the haunted house theme and the jump scares had us absolutely soiling ourselves and added the best element to our experience. If i wasn't from Sydney, I would do every single room here straight up. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and this is the level that a horror escape room should be at. Will be back again 11/10

Did the haunted house room on the 15th of June. Took my 8 year old daughter to her first room and she was a tad overwhelmed by some of the sounds (she's ASD). The venue has a quiet space and the person (sorry didn't catch the name) managing our group was great especially explaining how the room worked to my daughter which made a big difference. Really enjoyed the room too, it had everything you need to make it a fun and challenging experience, will be back to do the other rooms.

We did the Lost Tomb room and were excited to try it out given the amount of positive reviews. Unfortunately the experience was not what we had expected. To begin, the staff explaining were less than enthusiastic and didn't put much effort into explaining the room. We weren't given any warning about the sand in the room which might sound like an authentic addition to the set but it ended up going everywhere when we were required to crawl through it and something that could be an issue with people with mobility issues due to uneven surfaces. The puzzles themselves weren't very intuitive and quite a few of them were quite repetitive. Figure out this clue, unlock this lock. Repeat. Repeat. Nothing that made us excited to try the next puzzle. There was lots of individual puzzles that didn't link and some which required quite large logic leaps to even know that the clues were for the right puzzles. We've done a lot of escape rooms and all these puzzles felt half-hearted. The staff hadn't reset the room properly so when we asked for a hint it turned out something wasn't in the right spot. Additionally for one of the puzzles we were certain we had solved it and and running around trying to see if we missed anything. After struggling for a while we asked for a hint and it turned out the technology of the puzzle had failed and we realised we could've escaped earlier meaning they didn't monitor the room to see if things were going wrong. I feel like the staff training could be better and the progression of the puzzles needs to be more thought out to be a more logical narrative for the users.
