Wonderful lab for excursions in jazz melodies or contrapuntal works. Nice selection of wines and a few beers. Mark wayland on a large grand piano was outrageously good and accompanied by an energetic bass and roiling drummer. T'is worth the tram trip to Brunswick.

Luke Howard on the piano... mesmerising and enchanting. Cabaret style informality with a great bar and nibbles. Really worthwhile venue.

This was amazing. House band plus walk up musicians on the night we went (Tuesday). Love the concept of helping young musicians. They have a bar but not dinner, so eat before hand. Give it a try!

A nice venue with great acoustics and facilities in an accessible part of town, but the downsides are their poor uncomfortable chairs considering this is mainly a seated venue, also for those who don't smoke " it was very annoying to smell the smoke fumes drifting into the venue area from their court yard or door way" so this requires attention with better clean ventilation or vigilance.

Love this place. Small, intimate, great acoustics... This, and the amazing artists that grace it, is what makes Melbourne great. Even better if you live in Brunswick.

Cool and chilled Jazz venue. Perfect atmosphere to kick back and enjoy the act. Much less commercial than some others in the CBD. Bar was well stocked but eat before you go. The act we saw was exceptional but I think that was luck more than judgement.

The acoustics are great. The setting is intimate. If the reception were as warm as the feeling you'll get from some of the music you experience here, it would be God tier.

The Jazzlab is the club that replaced Bennett's Lane after developers demolished the building. It has the same owner and the same vibe and tradition of daily performances. The two gigs I've attended were outstanding, the ambience is fabulous, location is super easy for train and car parking, drinks are reasonable, toilets clean, manager and bar staff warm and helpful. What more could you ask for?

Great music, but you must appreciate Jazz improvisation. A greater variety of snacks would be better. It is hard to get around the venue when there are a lot of people.

Incredible gigs, varied and just brilliant. Beautiful music. The vibe was amazing. Was a bit chilly in the venue and would recommend eating beforehand or after.

The jazzlab located in a street off the busy Sydney Road is a very comfortable, cosy and dimly lit venue with great sound with a decent range of drinks on offer. If you are a aficionado of jazz music or just want to check out the music genre this is a very good place to start. Highly recommend

The venue is so aesthetically pleasing and true to what I'd always pictured a jazz club to be like, after reading so many descriptions of them over the years. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the night I went the patreons were were relaxed, but respectful of the artists on stage and of the vibe of the venue in general. I'm looking forward to spending many more nights there.

What a gem 💎 Ramona Jeremy and Michael run this incredible venue featuring local greats as well as renowned internationals. The old Bennett’s lane reborn in Brunswick. The vodka marshmallow in-house brew is a must.

Great music, great staff, great drinks. Such a fun place to hang out! Went to check it out on a Tuesday and saw Sean Wayland perform. Great show! The bar is cozy and suave, very fun atmosphere. If you come late, you can catch the last half of the show for half price.

Crazy awesome venue for live jazz. Very comfortable and accommodating place to catch a good band and enjoy a cold craft beverage. Be sure to look out for venue favourites and extremely talented ATM15 who play modern progressive jazz fusion that will sure to leave you in awe.

Moody venue with lots of decor throughout the entrance. The acoustics of the venue were great and the talent for the evening was impressive. A trio that had a mix of solo and group play, who were all very warm and inviting to the audience. Where the Jazzlab faults is their food & drinks menu. Drinks were a little overpriced and the food was ridiculously overpriced for what it was. Took a look at the menu online beforehand, and they advertised a “‘World’s Best’ Three Cheese Toastie with a big crunchy pickle” for $13. I was expecting a lot with that self-proclaimed title… don’t be fooled. It was basic sliced bread that you’d get from Coles/Woolies, the cheese was good but very disappointing in that price for something I literally could have made myself at home. Also, the “big pickle” was small. I saw “Chocolate” on the menu for $3 and assumed it would be Toblerone, as they had a lot of Toblerone advertising around the bar area). I asked the bartender for the $3 chocolate from the menu and she asked what kind, I said whatever the $3 menu one is. She came back with a single Baci chocolate for $3?!? I couldn’t believe it, I thought for sure there had been a mistake. What a ripoff! Now, I know you don’t normally come to a Jazz club for the food, but they really need to rethink their menu wording/naming and prices. If I ever go back. I will make sure I’m well-fed prior to entering.

Iconic and built for Jazz. Bar and plenty of floor and bar seating. And stunning acts in the spirit of Bennett's Lane. Just a superb venue that not even a pandemic could kill.

I came there for my partners music show, the Jazzlab was quite easy to find. The layout of the bar, seating and stage is so convenient to move around without disturbing anyone during a live session. Friendly staff. I enjoyed it! Was a relaxing experience! Cheers

Great little venue. Enjoyed a good night out there with the Mrs. Staff were pleasant. Sound was good. Drinks were good. The cheese platter was pretty good but very small for the price. I would definitely go back.
