Honestly, I didn't know what to expect when I booked a room at this hostel. I only booked at this hostel because it was cheap and near the concert venue I was attending, and I think after my stay here, it was an interesting experience that I wouldn't mind doing it again. I booked a private room with a shared bathroom (as I did not know that there was an option for a private bathroom) and was amazed by how spacious the room was with just a bed, sink, and some basic amenities (like a TV, some basic nightstands, a chair, etc). I would've liked to see a mini fridge and a tissue box, but as I walked in without any sort of expectations, it didn't bother me too much. The bedroom was fairly clean and kept tidy, so I had no complaints and was able to have a good time sleeping the two nights I stayed. I actually appreciate having the private sink in the bedroom, as being able to brush my teeth and wash my face without having to hog up a shared bathroom made things a lot easier for me. The shower/restroom facilities were kept clean most of the time as well, and if it was found to be out of my expectations for any reason, I've noticed that the staff is pretty attentive and it gets cleaned up fairly quickly. Overall, I don't regret my stay here at this hostel, and I had a wonderful time, albeit short. The staff was also super friendly and helpful during my time here. My only regret is not having tried out the cafe that's attached inside the hostel; if I ever find myself staying at this hostel again, I'll be sure to check it out.

First time staying at a hostel. We stayed one night in a girls dorm. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and we were able to adjust the temp in our room to a comfortable setting. The showers were clean. The toilet room was SUPER small, and probably could have been maintained better but honesty not bad at all. There were mostly female guests but everyone was very friendly or kept to themselves. As two female travelers, I never felt unsafe. The kitchen and lounge was upstairs and restricted from general public. We were out until 2am so the lobby was locked, but staff quickly saw us, confirmed we were staying here and let us in. The dorm room door has an alarm that will sound if the door isn’t shut all the way- so I felt safe in that aspect as well. Their rules have safety in mind. The location is perfect, it’s close to multiple bars and places to eat. We reserved parking passes at the Lincoln Art parking garage online and that was easy. The ice cream shop/coffee bar is the best! You get to sample the ice cream flavors with real mini silver spoons (which I found to be just a perfect touch). ❤️ Private room or shared room, I wouldn’t hesitate to book a stay!

I'll start here by saying that I've always enjoyed my stays here. A few of the other reviewers don't seem to understand the concept of a hostel, and what traveling on a budget is. One reviewer ranted that a bunk mate was messy. Rather than report it to staff, he judges the whole place on another guest. Would he rather bedrooms be monitored by 24 hour camera? (Obvious not, but a little communications goes a long way.) One reviewer thought they could ignore the out of town guest only policy. This is a hostel though. (It's in the name.) Similar policies aren't just common in other hostels, they're the norm. Look, I've stayed here in 2010 and 2011 too. Even then, when there were problems that were fixed by the out of town only rule, the 11th Avenue was a budget tourist gold mine. The location is better than any of the fanciest 5 star hotels in Denver. The price, even for the private rooms, are unbeatable for what the hostel is. (It's not a rooming house or an "hourly" motel, it's a nice place.) I see they're closed for renovations now. I worry the prices will raise significantly upon reopening; hopefully it would be out of reach. Either way, this place served me well in my travels over the years. I thank them for that.

My place to go whenever I go visit Denver. I have been a guest of theirs since before the renovations. Even before the renovations I liked my stay there. Quality, affordable, safe, clean budget accommodation, with friendly staff that look out for you during your stay. What more could you want from a hostel? The location is great as well. Special thanks to JP (I hope I got your name right!) He recognized me as a returning guest and treated me like a VIP guest with 5* treatment. Thank you so much. I wish the staff, team and owners all the best with their business and I hope I can come back visit again soon!

Stayed in a private euro room and everything was excellent. The room and bathrooms are very very clean, the kitchen and library areas are really nice, and the price and location are unbeatable. The staff are also very very nice which was a great plus! There is an elevator and a fridge in the kitchen though no freezer. Towels, soap, and shampoo are provided. Easily 5 stars-almost felt better than a hotel!

I really enjoyed this place, I went at it with a new mindset to enjoy my first Hostel experience. I tried to be at utmost respect with understanding they are running a successful business. Be mindful show appreciation that you get to be a part of their journey. (Leave lights off when not in room, don't leave things plugged in if not in use, and if you see something you could help clean like a little bit of trash help pick it up. Awesome people! Be blessed!

Excellent location and great hostel. One of the best ones ever stayed in this far. Staff is great and friendly and the hostel is like legit hotel; with housekeeping etc. Easy access to dinning and fun. If you have no vehicle no worries it’s right on the bus route - O or 10 will get you there on Broadway or Lincoln. If I’m ever back in Denver this would be my choice.

We've stayed at the hostel 3 times on Denver trips since they reopened and are OBSESSED. We won't stay anywhere else. Rooms are super clean and the beds are very comfy (they're definitely a gel memory foam, and firm which we like!). The showers have always been nice and hot, wifi is great, and we love the cafe in the lobby. The coffee is good! For the price, this hostel can't be beat. We've met great people in the library and kitchen when we make breakfast (super easy to whip up some eggs or oatmeal) and we usually spend the evenings exploring or eating out, and you can literally walk or scooter everywhere from the hostel. We are always in town for business, so the price, great staff, and location really make it stand out. 11/10. Can't wait for our next stay!

A tastefully refurbished historic hostel. I booked the private ensuite with bathroom. Everything was spotless. The mattress was comfortable and the room felt overall very welcoming. The hostel is close to everything, directly on Broadway, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, the cultural district, and downtown Denver... My plane landed at dawn and I was not sure my room would be ready. But staff arranged for an early check-in. It was very considerate!

I stayed in this hostel for 10days, and I was super enjoying my time here! Definitely one of the great hostels I've stayed in. I'm so glad that I stayed here after the renovations. It made the hostel so clean and the mattress is so comfortable! Friendly staff; they greeting with you when they see you! Helpful housekeepers, I enjoyed talking to them and they always give me what I need(towels, soaps, or refresh my bedsheet). I like how they provide complimentary earplugs, and it is so thoughtful of them. The kitchen is huge, and they also have a big dining place. Too many good things to mention, but overall I had a wonderful stay there!! Highly recommend this hostel!!

Service was great from check in to check out. I had the private suite and it was clean and spacious. I'm glad there was a chair in the room as I was able to work and sit without having to use the bed. Speaking of bed, it was quite comfy. My only suggestion would be to add blackout curtains because the Colorado sky is bright. The community space was lovely and they had a library! I'd stay here again.

I didn't stay at the Hostel but the ice cream shop in the building on the first floor. Really good ice cream and tea. They had a super friendly staff which was nice to see. They did have a leak in a pipe in the main lobby but they swiftly addressed it. Next time I go to Denver I'll definitely stay there.

I’m honestly really surprised this place has so many great reviews. The staff are really sweet and helpful but that’s probably the only pro. Our room was ok, but there were stains on the carpet and frequent noise from the pipes and AC unit. Our bathroom was not very clean and there were little black hairs scattered on the floor when we arrived (yuck). The location is fine during the day but didn’t appear to be the safest at night. If I were a woman traveling alone I probably would prefer to stay elsewhere. The elevator was also down so we had to lug our bags up multiple floors. Overall it wasn’t a horrendous stay but I don’t think I’ll be back.

I stayed at 11th Avenue Hostel while I visiting Denver and had an amazing stay! I was originally booked for 4 nights but I was so pleased with my stay I decided to add my last night in Denver on and stay at the hostel instead of scrambling around to find a new place for 1 more night. When you first walk in the inside is bright, clean, and accommodating and there’s even a coffee shop on site. I stayed in a private room on the third floor which was clean and comfortable, and all the shared bathrooms were very clean as well. Highly recommend staying here when you are in Denver it’s amazing value for the price!

Super clean, great location, friendly staff. They have a cute little coffee shop in the house and some restaurants around. Plenty of street parking and parking lots around. We got a free upgrade since they were having trouble with the air conditioner. The temperature could not go lower than 74. They also provided us with a fan. Since it was pleasant outside, the air conditioner was not an issue. I would recommend this place for sure.

This place is awesome. Know that this is a hostel and a historic building and you will have a great experience. The staff was phenomenal, the facilities were clean, and the location is great. I stayed for 10 nights in a private room and really enjoyed myself. Even though the place was full it didn’t feel like it. I can not speak to a shared dorm but staying close quarters with strangers can be a mixed bag. Highly recommend as long as you have proper expectations.

Comfortable beds, nice showers, a great communal kitchen and a central location- what could be better? I am so glad I booked at this hostel. It was full of families, and friends traveling. I like that they have a variety of rooms- the private 2 person friends room is awesome! The front desk folks were accommodating and friendly. They held my bag when I got in a little early and when my flight was later in the evening so I could explore the city. Also really good coffee and ice cream in the lobby. The location is wonderful and central (just about a 30 minute walk from Union Station) . It's close to so many great restaurants and attractions. I walked to the botanical gardens, the Molly Brown house, and the Colorado history museum. I will definitely be coming back to this hostel when I visit Denver.

Highly recommend this for traveling on a budget especially solo. I got a bunk in a shared female dorm and felt totally safe and comfortable the entire time. Everything was clean and the building is welcoming and cool inside, the front desk staff was friendly, and the bathrooms and showers were great. They provide towels which was awesome. Convenient location to Uber, doesn’t feel out of the way and seems to be in a good area. The ice cream place in the lobby is also awesome. Only negative was the room was pretty hot but honestly not too bad for it being July. Not sure if they have AC or maybe it was just out but it could’ve been worse. I’d 10000% stay here again.

Cute place! I was a little confused at the public restrooms and the sink in the room, but it was decent for its price; the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was lovely! I enjoyed the kitchen and lounge areas, very cozy vibes. But I was a little confused as to what kind of room I would get before I got there, and thought I'd get one with a bathtub based on the photos online.

Poor management. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. In the past I've had a good experience staying here, however this time was different. The night manager told me not to worry about parking in the back and then had me towed at 4am. If he had communicated clearly that I needed to move my car I would have done so. They also had my phone number at the front desk and the ability to knock on our door or call us before calling a tow truck but chose not to do so. The day manager was rude and unprofessional when questioned about it. I run a business and I understand that rules are rules, but I do not recommend patronizing anywhere that does not look out for the best interests of their customers. edit: I love that the owner went out of his way to repeat the lie his employees told him. I initially told your manager I would move the car in 30 minutes. AND HE SAID NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. Obviously there was a miscommunication about what he meant by 'don't worry about it' and I acknowledge my role in that but failing to acknowledge your mistake and then lying and saying you knocked on our door is bad business. We were awake and if someone had knocked we would have heard it. I reiterate again that you also had our phone number at the front desk and chose to call a tow truck instead of us. If your employees spent as much time trying to contact us as you did responding to a negative review this situation would have been avoided. Not to mention the fact the vehicle was not improperly parked or blocking anything and your business would have suffered no negative consequences from leaving it there for 2 more hours.

We stayed for two nights, one on our first night in CO and again on our last night. We arrived via train at Union Station and walked to the hostel (about 20 mins), but there’s also a free Denver bus that will get you within 5 blocks. Check-in and out was easy. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Room was clean and as described and beds and pillows were very comfortable. I was able to get a hair dryer at the front desk upon request. We had no problems with noise at night despite some nearby construction a block over. Our rooms were #320 (double en suite on top floor, end of the hall) and #255 (two dbls with en suite across from communal kitchen). There was a small cafe connected to the lobby with specialty coffees/baked goods. This was our first time in Denver and we felt safe in the neighborhood. We’d definitely consider staying here again for future visits.

I stayed here last weekend in a private room without a bathroom- our stay was great! The TV and sink in the room were an ideal bonus. The kitchen and shared living areas on the second floor made the experience homey. We loved walking downstairs to enjoy some delicious cold brew from the cafe in the mornings. You won’t find a better deal in Cap Hill and the space has everything you need.

I spent four days in Denver and I enjoyed staying at this hostel. I had a private room on the third floor from which I could see the dome of the Colorado State Capitol. Yes, this hostel is conveniently located near downtown Denver (within walking distance of the art museum and history museum) and it's for a reasonable price. The shared areas (kitchen, day room, individual bathroom/showers, laundry) were clean and in good condition. This hostel has easy access to nearby bus stops. This is one of the finest hostels that I have stayed at. The only minus was the coffee shop/ice cream place. The card machine was broken and they only took cash when I was there. The coffee shop/ice cream place must have also been understaffed because the wait time was rather slow. I opted to go a couple doors down to the convenience story a couple doors down for food or snacks.

Really nice place to stay in the middle of Denver. My partner and I stayed here for several nights in one of their private rooms. It is by far the nicest hostel I have ever seen, recently renovated, and the staff are super nice and helpful. My only minor complaint is that there is no sign, as far as I could tell, to hang on the door to refuse the room cleaning service. But I'm sure the front desk staff would accommodate this if asked. We can definitely recommend this place and would stay again next time.

We recently stayed for almost a week as we celebrated our destination wedding. They were incredible hosts, providing discounted parking in a busy downtown location, advice for food in the area, comfortable rooms to stay in, and a great place to convene with friends and family who traveled in from across the US. They went above and beyond, even taking the photo I'm including of us with my painting we had our family and friends sign (which turned out to be one of the only photos from our rehearsal dinner, so thank you Greg!)! Their event space was beautiful, hosting our rehearsal dinner. The coffee and ice cream shop downstairs was incredible.

We stayed for 1 night as we had a concert in red rocks. What a wonderful hostel with a great vibe. It’s clear they take great care with the place. Room was really spacious, comfy clean bed, toilets were spotless. Great experience

Check the phone records. We explicitly asked for a room with room for three, twice, did not get what we asked for and were denied a solution. A room shared with another person is not what we wanted, what we were promised, and not even for the price that was said over the phone. All that we asked for is that you matched the price that was promised over the phone or at least offered a discount because the affordability of your hostel was the only reason we came. You couldn’t do that. By no fault of the gentleman at the desk, as he was genuinely trying his best to accommodate us. But the fact that our only other option was to either pay 2x the price we were ready to pay for a private room for a shared room or go somewhere else is as I’m sure you understand, not good service. We weren’t demeaning to the person at your desk, just understandably frustrated. Spend more time managing your hostel instead of replying to comments by being passive aggressive and maybe I wouldn’t have left a bad review.

This hostel has a very nice lobby and central areas, including a great shared kitchen. There are a few bathrooms that are nicer than the others. The beds aren't super private, but my roommate was very nice. I didn't love the location as much as the other hostels in Denver.

  • 5/5 Mike K. 9 months ago on Google
Great vibe from the door. Nice staff to receive, register, and orient you in the space. Handy coffee shop with pastries, warm breakfast options, and ice cream for the evening. I took a private room, with bath, and found it just fine for a night between walking all day at the convention center. Really, I just use hotel rooms for sleep. I dig the community sitting area and kitchen, though didn't use them.

I have stayed in almost 70 hostels and this place had pro’s and con’s. Pro’s: price, location close go civic center park and tons of downtown restaurants, private room and bathroom, clean, outlets and usb ports by both sides of the bed, hot water, kitchen with fridges, 24/7 front desk, coffee shop at the lobby, elevator, friendly staff! Con’s: there was a light shining in the bedroom window all night. I attached photos taken at 1am, with the blinds shut it was still completely bright in the room all night both nights. The first night there were people partying below us or next to us all night, it sounded like they were in our room. The second night an alarm went off for two hours straight in another room or outside. The fire alarm was set off by construction on our floor as we were getting ready to leave one morning and was deafening. If it were not for the noise and light I would definitely stay here again but my partner and I both did not sleep well since it felt like daytime. The staff is super friendly though and we did the 10$ a day parking and it was close, seemed safe, and the in and out is great.

A great location and roomy accommodation for the private room. Check in was quick and staff helpful. Despite sharing bathrooms never struggled to use one. Can be loud from the street but overall not an issue to sleep

We got the king private room and it was fantastic. Simple furniture but very clean, nice private bathroom and tons of onsite facilities (laundry, kitchen, coffee shop). Pair this with the great location, a corner store next door, walking distance to downtown, and close proximity to a bus stop gives you one of the best affordable stays in Denver. We did have an Incident where the feet on our claw foot tub collapsed and tipped over while I was showering but they moved us to another room quickly after it happened.

Great hostel! The owners did a great job on the renovations and reopening. Nice atmosphere, clean space, friendly staff, affordable. Can get a little loud at night (close to the bars and food trucks so if that’s your scene, this is the place to stay) but they provide complimentary ear plugs that totally blocked the noise. Really enjoyed hanging out in the lobby after check out while waiting for friends. Would stay again!

The staff was nice - we arrived at 2 AM so appreciated the 24 hour service. The room was $20 more than it said online when we arrived. We booked a private room - but just FYI it ends up being almost the same as a hotel. The room walls are thin making it so hard to sleep. No earplugs are provided. They were doing LOUD construction at 8 am the next morning, literally right outside our room. In my opinion we should have received lower rates for this. Waking up to hammering and drilling after a red eye flight was not pleasing. Our room was clean and the bathroom is nicely decorated. Edit: After reading the response - I do appreciate there being free earplugs available downstairs. I think it would have made the situation better to just getting a heads up about the construction.

Well... I was attempting to book a dorm here however the ever so pleasant "RJ" almost immediately hung up on me as I was asking some rather important questions - terrible/rude customer service, I will not be staying here.

Amazing!! We got to have our own room and bathroom (with a giant clawfoot tub) for under $100 total, in an awesome location. Highly highly recommend

Gpaul is the host with the most! Hospitality, honesty and integrity! Great place to stay and enjoy Denver Colorado. My wife was injured while skiing Winterpark and ended up in Denver Health hospital. I called 11th Avenue hotel/hostel and booked with them for one week. The room was immaculate and the hospitality there was great, always someone at the front desk to help me no matter what time it was. I would recommend this historic hotel to anyone!

This is a very cool hostel. I have stayed in many and this one really does well. The building is secure and the staff is more than helpful. It has a coffee shop that serves great products and is located in the busy downtown area. There is a 420 dispensary 3 blocks away and is surrounded by restaurants and seemingly busy bars for a night cap. If you are a hostel extrodinare such as myself this is one you will revisit. Enjoy.
